THIS IS HUGE!!! Adding Sport Plus and Launch Control to my Porsche Macan for less than $200

  • I spec'd my 2015 Porsche Macan S with no Sport Chrono, hence, I didn't have Sport Plus installed. But, it seems Sport Plus and Launch Control are currently an active function in 2015 Porsche Macan (possibly other year models as well), but with no way to switch it on.
    In this video, I describe my experience adding the Sport Plus switch to my Porsche Macan center console to make it possible to switch sport plus on. I also show how to activate the switch using Launch X431 and Otofix/Autel coding capabilities. In addition, if you don't want to add the button in the center console, I show you how to quickly add Sport Plus/Launch Control to the steering wheel joker button.

    I would like to suggest to remove the dust boot, clips into place, then removing the chrome trim completely. Then you need to remove the center stack completely by pulling up the bottom and pulling the unit out from the front. Disconnect the wires and flip over to remove the 4 screws.

    I called the dealer and asked them if they could order me the button module for my 2019 Porsche Macan S and then program the sport plus button to work like you showed. The dealer called me back after a few hours and told me that they could NOT program this afterwards as it is a factory only option and must be ordered from the factory with the sport plus package to work. They mentioned that it is not possible on the models 2019 and newer. Therefore, I went and purchased a OBD2 programmer and spent about 2 hours playing around with it. Needless to say that after watching your video and playing around with the programmer I was able to get it to work. Now I have normal mode, sport mode (button) and sport plus + (programmed to the diamond key on the steering wheel) and it works perfectly! Kudos to you for showing us how. Anyone who says it does NOT work is not knowledgable and doesn't have the determination to figure things out like you did! Thanks so much!

      @@terjewadahl9173 Yes. The start/stop function is also in the AC module. You can code it to be completely off all the time. To start in off when you turn car on. To start in ON when you turn the car on. And to remember last state. In the 2015 Macan, the coding from factory is to remember last state, hence I haven’t changed it since I never turn it on. In my 718 however, it was code to ON every time I turn my car on, and it was driving me crazy. I changed coding so that it always turn itself off when I turn car off. I never turn it on, so, now there is no issues with my 718 either.

    Great video - thanks for all your help in the macan community, we're all very lucky you share your knowledge with us! One question I had was the 95B-907-041-AD-DML part number shows 'no sport exhaust' even though the PSE button is always on the right. Having a macan turbo WITH PSE but the same left side buttons as you, would this module work for me? I also have the rare-er option of the composs instead of the sport chrono clock - think that's an issue? (PS : Mars and Teddis say hello! )

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  Před 3 měsíci +1

      In our model year, the PSE button is on the right and is coded on the right. So, in my opinion it will work. When you go and code it, and select LEFT (or Links), there are only the alternatives related to the Left switch for our model year. PSE will be available in the RIGHT, and you won’t lose that.
      I don’t believe that the clock would have anything to do with this. As a matter of fact, I have the normal clock, not the sport chrono or compass clock. It still worked in mine as you could see.

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  Před 29 dny +1

      Hi. Thanks for your question. Technically, it doesn’t matter. If you only have Sport and Sport+ (and BTW, I think PSM is standard, so you would have that as well). What would happen is that the 3 first buttons of your keypad will work, with the last two doing nothing. The signal is sent by the order in the keypad, no matter what it says in the label. So I can technically use my new keypad with the 5 buttons, and assign only 4 functions. If that is the case, I would lose sport+ which is the second button, and that button would now be chassis, etc… with the last button on the keypad being nonfunctional. So, the buttons in the keypad are just buttons. The functionality of these buttons is stored in the module.

The hack is just a way to activate Sport Plus (the real sport plus, not some fake sport plus… this can be confirmed by the ability of the Macan to activate launch control, which is a feature only present with sport chrono/sport plus). Sport Plus does change the throttle dynamics and ECU mapping in the Macan to accomplish the more aggressive response you describe.
      The only thing that is not activated with this hack is the PCM/MFD sport chrono functions. The rest of the sport chrono functions, and what I would say is the most important which is the activation of sport plus and launch control, is activated with this hack.

      I didn’t upgrade my headlights from PDLS to PDLS+. I had PDLS BiXenon headlights and I upgraded them to LED PDLS. With some aspects of PDLS+ that I was able to code.
      In order to upgrade your current headlights from PDLS to PDLS+, you need two things… (1) intersection light; (2) automatic high beam assist.
      If you have PCM3.1 and I guess 4.0, you can code intersection light using X431, PIWIS or Autel.
      For high beam assist, in addition to coding, you need the front camera that sits behind the top center part of the windshield. That camera usually comes with 2 features, lane departure option or PDLS+. If you have lane departure, you can code high beam assist.
      The process is explained in a Macan Forum thread. Go into Macan Forum and search for PDLS+.
      If you are only interested in LED headlight upgrade, let me know and I can direct you to the right information.
      Just to clarify, one thing doesn’t have to do with the other. You can have PDLS or PDLS+ with both BiXenon or LED headlights. Hope this helps…

      @@zzzly4038 You can’t go wrong with X431 or Otofix. I, however, find X431 easier to use. Although Otofix (Autel) is faster. I’d go with X431.

      @@porscheDIY Thanks for your videos. Just when I think I was done with tweaks... Which variant of X431 would you recommend? There seems to be many!

    Do you have by any chance an instruction for the PIWIS of how to activate S+ with the joker button?

      You have to set the mode to Engineering. Select Instrument Cluster Module (Kombiinstrument [0x005]). Press F12. Select “Coding/Programming” tab. Select “Manual coding without coding rules (development)” from the menu. Press F12. Select “All” from menu. Press F12. Find and select “Bordcomputer Menukonfiguration 2: Bordcomputer Menuekonfiguration 2 Byte 2 Joker Sport Plus” (you’ll have to scroll down a bit to find it. Press F12. In Value, it will show as “nicht aktiv”. Select that field, and select “aktiv” from the drop down menu. Once selected, Press F8.
      This should successfully write the code, and now you should have it available in the MFD under joker button vehicle functions.
      Hope this helps.

      @@porscheDIY also would be super helpful to have an instruction for the PIWIS how to assign S+ to the new buttons module. I’ve just ordered one. Thanks ahead! You rock! :)
