Who can not relate to celebrating early. Then you are back to the beginning and maybe a little wiser?
I remember cutting glass 💎when taking stain glass 🪟classes I still have my glass tools 🧰
I like your attitude and you definitely have the skills to get the job done even if the wind was working against you that day. I learned from your video so thank you!
Finally, something I know something about! 😂 I cut stained glass for frames, mosaics, and kilned ornaments. I have a couple of cutters like the one you used, and a few pistol grips- which I prefer because they are easier for me to use. (Don't forget to oil the wheel because they tend to rust) You did a very good job explaining the cutting/ scoring process so a first timer should be able to cut glass like a pro. I work mostly with 12x12 glass so I make the breaks with my hands unless it's too close to the edge, then I'll use running pliers. I've never cut a large piece like yours, but the process is the same. Sorry about the crack, it happens to all of us. For me, there is something satisfying in hearing the zipping sound of scoring glass. Many Blessings!!
I enjoyed that sound when I was editing the video, very cool!
@@RainCountryHomestead It's almost as satisfying as hearing canning jars ping! 😂
It is good to hear from someone who is experienced. Got to looking around the shop and I have three cutters. about a month ago I oiled the cutters. They don't work so well when they are froze up. Thanks for the input!
@@RainCountryHomestead sounded like nails on a chalkboard to me.
I haven't cut glass in decades. Good skills to know.
It's been a while for me as well. Got to looking around the shop and discovered I had three cutters.
@@MrRain-hk4zi would u mind doing a workshop tour to show ur organization, work areas, and how u make ur space so productive? Thank u so much for ur tutorials. 🕊
@@americaneden3090 My shop is a hoarders train wreck of tools, projects and supplies 😅
I needed to cut a window sized glass, and I came across numerous videos for A4 size cuts ,but I persevered and I came across you Sir,who took on what others avoided.
Great method especially the edge of table tip ! may God bless you and your family.
Thank you Pat (and Heidi). Sometimes projects are 2 steps forward 1 step back. It keeps a person humble.☺ Still a good job done.👍
Blessings! 💜
Yeah, we are two steps back and then some with time lost, glass wasted and starting from square one 😉🤣 (a glass half empty) ha ha!
This is such valuable info. Thank u so much for taking the time to teach & edit these videos. 💚🌱
Thanks Andria!
That was a great demonstration of how to cut a large piece of glass, thankyou, very helpful.
Great video Patrick. Hubs does this but its good to watch in the event he may not be around and I need to cut some glass. When my first husband passed, I didn't know how to do some of the things he did so I have been learning more so I can be self-sufficient. You never know when you may be alone. Blessings all! 🥰
We are constantly working on developing new and honing skillsets. You are right, you never know when you may need them.
Bless your heart. Sometimes it takes two to do some projects.
@@denisepope8599 Yeah, I'm pretty stubborn that way...and sometimes it costs. 😖
Thanks for the demo Patrick! I thought it was a great primer for somebody who wanted to know how to replace a pane of glass. Don't be offended but you would be an excellent instructor for so many things. Not everybody that has a skill can teach somebody else to perform that skill. You are very good at explaining things in terms most people can understand. Enjoyed the video. Phil
Appreciate the feedback Phil. I'm just a simple guy explaining things...simply. It takes a fair amount of thought to explain things and be thorough. I try to explain things in a manner that allows me to think "out loud" and answer any questions that I might have myself if I was just learning. No, not offended at all. 👍
🌞Good morning mr rain thanks for the demonstration on glass cutting very interesting I have not seen any glass cutting in a while thanks again for sharing this with us 🪄✨✨👌🏾
Thank you Lynette!
I like the video. I was sad for yah when that glass fell. I get mad and very aggravated when things like that happen to me. And yes they happen to us all. God bless.😯
Yeah, life happens. The cutting went smooth so I kind of set myself up for failure 😅
Oopsie. At least you still had that big bit of Glass left over.
Hubby won't ever let me cut glass, or drill a tile. Lol. He has a Diamond glass cutter tool, looks very similar.👍
Football playing Chickens. Oh my. ⚽️🐔
TFS RC, & take care too everyone. ❤🙂🐶
Yeah, that is the only thing that makes sense. I've seen those hens kick rocks before and they are pros!
Oh my! I for sure though the “oopsie” would occur during the splitting of the cuts. Bummer it broke at the end. Thanks for showing the process!
The good thing is it is doing what it needs to do as is until he can cut another piece.
The beginning went WAY too smoothly Ha ha!
I had always wondered what the notches in the tool were for. Also never realized the purpose of the ball on the opposite end.. A good education good education!
Thank you Glenda!
Looks great Patrick! Very good explanation on how you did it. I don't cut glass, but my Mr. does all the time. I'll have to ask if he does it differently. Hopefully, you'll share the installation video.😊
Thanks!!
Mr. Rain I'm so thankful you left all of the installation in the final video intact, even though the result was less than ideal. I have never cut glass. Your tutorial will certainly come in handy if needed. Take care.
Stuff happens! I was rushing a bit trying to get that glass in. I should have taken a little more precaution before installing. I had the glass propped up there but a little breeze came up and over powered substandard stick I used to prop up the glass panel. We left that in the video do demonstrate what NOT to do on an install haha!
This is not a safety video😂😂😂😂 this is real life. Good to know stuff, I may need this, unlike the big machine repairs😁 nice job!
Ha ha, don't try this at home.
@@MrRain-hk4zi it happens!
Good job
Thanks!
I use to do stain glass back in the day, and so many times I made a cut and it didn't break the way I ment for it to break, and I have also dropped finish peaces, and had to start again.
I knew the cutting went too smooth...then the install 😬🙄😭
@@MrRain-hk4zi it happens Mr Rain.

No Pat, that wasn't a chuckle... that was a serious cringe... happened to me too. A buddy of mine back in high school and college used to make Tiffany Lamps and Stained Glass Windows He told me to always dip the cutter in light machine oil before starting a cut. Either clear packing tape on both sides of the break, or Crazy Glue in it... will still give you years of service...
About a month ago I looked around my shop and found three cutters. I oiled and exercised the wheels just in case I needed them. When it dries out around here I plan on revisiting the glass. I had thought about Crazy Glue but that is as far as I got...was just a thought. Thanks Tim!
We have a broken window in our house and I'm thinking maybe we could try to replace our glass using this technique. Currently there's duct tape holding the broken shards and closing up the hole
Tape is a great temporary solution.
I'm learning! would thatt technic work for ceramic tile?
Good question, it would. A tile saw would work better if you had access to one. The break is generally rougher but you can use a concrete block and "sand" down the edges.
Hey what’s up I was watching one of the videos colloidal copper and I recently broke my finger and it was cut open so I’ve been trying to find different things to sanitize and I found out copper 99.9% of viruses almost instantly so I was wondering colloidal copper would have the same properties of a metallic copper has killing viruses
Yes, I make both colloidal copper and silver and use them both
@@RainCountryHomestead Yeah that’s crazy right I never knew that you would think it would be Everywhere and all our hospitals I can’t believe nobody put it in a bottle and started selling it for cleaning and sanitizing Thank you I liked your video I’m make some now and see if it does better then bleach I found this article I don’t add link cus of scammer
Copper has unique antimicrobial properties and is proven to continuously kill bacteria that cause infection, is safe for people and the environment, and is the only solid metal touch surface registered as a public health product by Health Canada and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. When installed on high touch surfaces, copper will eliminate up to 99.9% of harmful bacteria within two hours.
What’s going on…advised bought a box of diced dry fruit. It is kind of soft like raisins. What is the best way to break it down to store
Vacuum seal in smaller glass canning jars is what we do.
@@MrRain-hk4zi thank you that’s what I was leaning towards
Yeah, I was gonna ask how many takes it took. Now my favorite steps is, go to the local glass shop. Just kidding. Kinda. Peace
The beginning of the project was WAY too smooth.
