"Babe wake up, SunlightBlade just posted a new video"
Yes, queen. *drained face*
Ahh so there is a few of us who aren’t maidenless
👀
I'm up, I'm up! Time to watch!
Thanks babe!
My 4 yr old daughter saw the walking mausoleum and without missing a beat “yeah, we KNOW that one” complete with eye roll.
Hahaha ok this got me 😆
how cute! as a 4 year old i would have LOVED to do that one for my dad :D hope she has lots of fun with the game!
Oh fu,ck off Rebecca, she did not say that
@@aJazzyFeel you're very Grammatical for a 4 year old.
@@xLionsxxSmithyx hahahaha 🤣 i wouldn't doubt there are some 4 year olds on this site, in this age of technology. luckily I'm 34, but still! playing games with my daddy was so much fun back when i was a toddler. i couldn't even hold a snes controller with my tiny hands!
I agree that it would be nice to have more options for altering armor.
The only explanation I have is they didn't finish the player interface before the game was launched. Because the background tech is there and it's really weird they'd introduce a whole new feature to just add/remove a cape for some armours.
really wanna remove the hair off of melania's helm
@@raccdaddyy368 Seconded.
i was so disappointed to finally beat mal and then be stuck with her wig just like hoarahs crown 😭
Removing the horn from the drake knight helm would be pretty cool
The Warriors of the Jar and Fia's Companions have to be one of my favourite features. I just summoned the 3rd Warrior, on my PS5 playthrough and it ended up being MY character, from my PS4 playthrough. I was soundly defeated, in shock and I have never been more proud or accepting of a death in a game, like this.
"Brave Tarnished, thy strength benefits a crown!" - tarnished_pointing_at_tarnished.jpeg
Here’s a neat little fact about fia’s champions
They’re all player made builds
When fia gives you a hug, your build is uploaded to a pool of champions she summons for that challenge
The masoleums are asleep a certain time of the night (right before sunrise), and during this window the curse marks can be hit and broken without waking them
I did not know this. Does this affect that one mausoleum that is constantly bombarding its surroundings?
@@jacobfreeman5444 not sure, heard of this fact via another video and they only showed the ones in Liurnia, but I would assume that even the bombarding one would sleep
@@jacobfreeman5444 didn't seem to work for me.
I noticed this while waiting to be summoned for co-op in the weeping peninsula. I liked standing at the sight of grace near the bottom of the southern cliff that overlooks the area the mausoleum walks around. I came back from helping someone with a boss and there it was, sleeping away!
Oh, so that's what that was. I thought it was a bug and the masoleum's animations didn't work, so it was effectively "t-posing".
Small note, I think great jar warriors with no weapon might be more common than you think. A long well known method of besting this challenge is to start the fight, and bait the npcs off the cliff while standing on the nearby branch, and therefore has no reason to actually have a weapon equipped, and is better off minmaxing on the equippable shield at the time!
The branch method is significantly riskier than the cliff on the other side of the arena. That one lets the NPCs just run right over your head 99% of the time.
@@amberhernandez I agree but the branch method has been widely known since patch 1.0 and that method is much newer, it's likely more of the player base still uses the branch
How did I not know about this cheese? Screenshotting this for later.
Or you can just beat them using your skills like a man.
This is legit the first time I've seen a "10 things you didn't know about a FromSoft game" video and it was actually 10 things I really didn't know.
Well done bro. Subscribed.
10:30 - Maybe the nobles are putting some stuffing in their loincloths to appear more well endowed. You can never know with these weird aristocrats ;)
To quote Ivan Boesky:
“A man who routinely confused talent for ambition.”
While most applicable to modern politicians and grifters like Trump, it is a fine descriptor to apply to the aristocracy since time immemorial.
Especially when you read about their overreaction to things like the Jacquerie…
love the dead angling highlight bit. you can use the omnidirectional unlocked swing to track by locking on toward the end of the charge animation. so if you strong hit away from someone but lock on right before it swings, you'll turn to hit
This catches a lot of people off guard in PvP scenarios, specially with weapons that have a poke as Heavy, like the Claymore.
I hope in the future From patches in more functionality to the sentry torch. Being able to use it to reveal hidden walls, players, and invisible weapons would be really cool, if admittedly very situational.
hidden enemies, scarabs and walls is just fine. other players and invisible weapons use resources for that effect, you shouldnt be able to nullify it for free.
@@MrGhostTheBigRoast Maybe a unique ash of war on the torch to revel player in a pvp scenario?
@@MrGhostTheBigRoast On the flip side, the weight and weapon slot used to carry what is really a useless weapon (the Sentry torch) is also consuming resources, just in a different way.
@@asheblackflight1720 Not really. You can just only equip it in dungeons or take it off if it worked in PvP. People switch weapons all the time, which is slower than simply unequipping a weapon. The scenarios are not equivalent.
What I’d like to see is a set of recipes that require one of the special torches and a lantern to allow the lantern to functionally copy the special effect, but only the one effect, you’d need a different lamp and torch each time
That set looks fantastic with the royal purple cape it's a shame that it was patched
I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the manual attack aiming issue.
I'm fairly sure it used to work, I haven't played in months, but when the game came out, I used to use that to manually target my big weapon attacks (Prelate's Inferno Crozier in my case).
it's a setting you have to enable or disable in game options. EDIT nvm I see he ment for Ashes of War not Heavy Attacks :D
Can we upvote this please lol
They are Crayfish. I grew up around the little guys catching them. I've been to Red Lobster so I can confirm a miriad of differences/distinctions.
Edit: Also Crayfish are creek, swamp etc creatures and lobsters are ocean creatures.
I thought the same thing. Crayfish are found in freshwater and lobsters aren't. Considering where they are in the map they can't be lobsters.
@@Rat_the_Renegade Where I’m from people call them “Crawdads” for some reason lol.
Also, it shows a lot of attention to detail having their weakspot on their belly since that's where people generally stab them before preparing it as food, since it's their softest and also gives them a clean and fast death, which, by consequence, makes them taste "better". Trust me, I'm a coastal latin american inhabitant
@@zanemob1429 I've heard crayfish, crawfish, and crawdads where I live.
I generally say crawfish myself.
Louisiana, where I’m from and reside and for the most part the whole south calls them… CRAWFISH 🦞. CRAWDADS is a Deep South Louisiana term.
Really hope that the directional input for colossals is fixed. It's been bothering me since release that I can't manually aim while locked on despite having activated the option immediately on my first character.
About Walking Mausoleums, Troll's Roar/Starcaller Cry (1st part) should do the job as well.
Champion chest plate is my favorite chest plate and when i got it I immediately wore it without the cape after i killed the NPC who wears it so when I altered it while wearing it I immediately got the purple cape
I didn’t know it was bug :(
One thing I've personally discovered regarding the great jar knights, is that if I save-quit it makes the red summons the exact same every time, and I think they might be the default summons because in every playthrough where I've done this, it's always been the exact same summons in the exact same signs. I would say it's helpful for getting the great jar's arsenal super early, but the mage is really aggressive with their magic glintblade usage, and their carian phalanx can potentially one shot. The guy with the rapier has a buckler, and will parry you, and WILL one-shot you. I'm on Xbox, so I don't know if this assumed oversight is on other platforms.
Edit: Thanks to DWN-024 Shadow Man for clarifying that they are the offline summons. I'm curious as to why I encounter them on a save-quit since I always play online, maybe it fails to roll them upon loading the area if you don't rest at a grace or die, though there's no way to be sure. I guess in that case it would just roll the offline reds by default, though I'm still curious to know what's breaking behind the scenes to cause them to fail to roll the summons in the first place.
Those are the offline adversaries the great jar gives u to fight, i know because im always playing offline but I might try this online to fight other players builds lol. If i get too many blood builds i will go back offline because I cannot stand that.
@@DWN-024ShadowMan Wait. You fight human players for that event? They've always been npcs for me and I play online. :o
@@Krystalmyth They are NPCs, they just use the builds of players that have won the Challenge of the Great Jar.
The funny thing is, that that may be a bit self selecting, since the strength of these summons will compel some people to come back with Meta Weapons, and of course on Meta Levels. I don't think, they get scaled down either.
@@Sinhsseax can confirm. Currently getting wrecked because ALL three of my summons are various Meta builds and I hate it >:(
@@coltonhusher3876 Well if you know they're npcs they can only drink twice and you can abuse that :3
I have been playing this game since launch and i don't think i have NEVER open or break that illusory wall at minute 6:59. Also i had no clue you could do that with the torch lol.. i did learn a couple of things from this video, thanks!
Where is that illusory wall do you know?
I was more surprised about THAT illusory Wall. Can‘t remember that one and have played through the Game like 10 times 😂 do you know where that one is?!
Yea WTF, im on 1300 hours and i only just found that wall recently
Same. Where is it??
Raya Lucaria, church of the cuckoo. Right of the entrance to the church itself.
I'm usually more of a red tabbard guy myself, but the fact that the purple cape is being kept from us is a tragedy.
Heh...
I found it interesting that the beast champion cape and navy hood are actually very similar to Godfrey’s cape. Navy blue with a silver detail
I thought there was maybe a lore reason why the jarburg road wasn't there anymore. Maybe this was an ancient map and the jarburg prefer to be out of sight now because of poachers. Alas that wasn't it.
I do not pay anywhere near enough attention to the map 🤣 I had no idea they'd fixed that bit of "illusionary road" by Jarbug haha! Incredible video as always SunlightBlade ❤
The purple cape glitch was really easy to do, and man I wish they kept it that color. We already have enough blue capes. The purple version looks lovely and travel worn.
If some folk struggle against those Knight Jar builds (Seeing how much players min-max and use over the top builds) Its much easier to do them offline.
Because theyre only exactly 3 of the same NPCs, a Mage, a Dex parry bait, and a Strength shield hugger. Theyre not hard at all compared to what the community has.
Additionally, I'd suggest grabbing a whip and using that if you can. Whips outrange most melee weapons and easily stagger mages. NPC fights are much easier with one.
love it your content...
8:04 as far as I am concerned, the main difference is that crayfish inhibit fresh water. Crayfish however are slightly better able to crawl over land for thst reason, as they are more likely to have to move over water at some point. Because of that I am reasonably sure these are supposed to represent crayfish.
The only lobster argument is that their shears are uneven size, which tends to mostly be a thing in lobsters.
Not mostly just a trait of both and they are crayfish. Also lobsters are huge and crayfish usually aren’t. That and lobsters are in the sea and crayfish around creeks and ponds, swamps etc.
@@zanemob1429 said creatures are in a swamp tho...
Only non boss enemy I truly can't stand are the runebears... Always a pain in the ass to fight. I don't mind the lobsters but that weakness is good to know.
Royal revenants are a far bigger menace than the gorilla bears, even with their weakness to healing magic. The bottom of the haligtree is the worst area in the game solely because of them.
@@hewhoshallnotbenamed5168 they are worse than rune bears yeah but for some reason i just hate the rune bears so much more
@@cnut7383 Runebears are extremely annoying because they never stop attacking, their attacks have large hitboxes and every time you try get behind them they turn around at lightning speeds and rush into you EVERY SINGLE TIME
I already knew all of these except for the old aristocrat shoes changing the loincloth size. Guess this game has really been eviscerated all the way through, huh? I'll miss that sense of wonder in discovering things for a while :,)
I didn’t know about the illusory wall shown at 7:00 before now; cheers for the secret! :D
With the Aristocrats shoes first time I saw that was watching Bushys Elden Ring challenges, he wears them a lot.
I love how like 4 months ago people were saying they were at the end of their "things you missed" lists, and every freaking week they keep finding more. That's not a sarcastic love, I actually love it.
I don't know if I'm the only one thinking this. But I think the changes to the map for Jarburg is a bad one.
Before you would go here and see that the map is lying to you and you would search another way. It's was a great thing because it show you that the map is an ancient one and has not been updated which made you wonder if they were other area like that where the map isn't up to date and would you explore to find these. It was a great thing for immersion.
(sorry if my idea are messy, not a a native english speaker)
A map literally lying to you is never, ever a good thing jfc. never excuse bad game design like that
@@anonnoname.27 it could be if designed around that.
like a game where you find yourself to be a map maker and you have to follow faulty maps to help you make your own accurate one. leading to numerous dangerous and terrible events of course.
That's of course only if you lean into it, if it's just something you see and then laugh at for being humorously wrong and not even making sense, like elden ring.
For what this guy is saying, I'd keep it but add like a "X
@@anonnoname.27 I actually loved it, it felt like I was in a world that made errors, it made me feel more immersed not less. It wasn't too much of a time waste, and I didn't really plan the rest of my journey assuming the map was faulty, but it was an interesting thing to find.
@@megabumbusta2746 While that may be true in some circumstances, the fact that FromSoft actively went back and fixed the map with each new update kinda invalidates your point. They knew they messed up. The fact that the map (aka the thing you rely on to get around the world) was misleading players is a big no-no when it comes to game design.
@@anonnoname.27 yes that is true, I didn't deny it. just saying it could be.
man I used to watch all your dark souls videos way back when. I figured a lot of the dark soul youtubers died off but seeing you make pretty much the same content as before is awesome!
Sentry Torch - Claims to reveal illusions. Only works on one thing.
Mogh's Shackle - Claims to only work on one thing. Reveals illusions.
There a new Wormface in Mt. gelmir right before you fight the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. It drops a larval tear for some reason. It wasn't there at launch
I think I've seen that one. I was like, "Was that always there?".
I've been rewatching all your videos as of lately so it's nice seeing something new.
I feel bad for the person who had to fight my character as the Great Jar's warrior. I had a strong madness, faith/ dex build, 60 vigor, heavy armor with Vyke's Warspear +10 / Brass shield. And my off hands had Bloodhounds step, and Reduvia +10 I'm sure they had a blast 🤘
thanks for the info, I got the purple cape once and had no idea how it happened
bro i know you made this video a while ago but i cant get over the music at 0:20 is so familiar and kind of nostalgic and i cant figure out where its from
holy fucks its that one risk game
For lore reasons, I think the map frags should never have been edited.
You're scrawling them down by copying or shadowing from old stone tablets, it stands to reason that we see a different layout since our Tarnished is on a journey far in the future from when, say, the Roundtable Hold was in an actively used fort. The Grace is having us move in and out of different timelines and dimensions, it makes sense that maps are inaccurate
I wanna point out that the tailoring system has 3 slots for each piece of armor but only one currently has an option in it. To me this implies more options were intended but either cut or just not completed.
Another post from Sunlight Blade to make my day better!
I think that you and your “you didnt know” videos were my first encounter with youtube comments about DarkSouls, and here we are all those years later, wild right?
Im cursed with this shit
For the mausoleums, Mohg spear ash of war, and Radahn ash of war also can do the trick with their aoe attacks
So when I and my friend used the deathbed dress pre patched in the 2nd run throughout most of the game, we basically played with handicaps?
What. The. F*ck.
Well, congrats I guess :'D
Well I wore it in my first playthrough and was rock sure, you couldn't sneak upon the shown crucible knight...
6:25 took me a while to realize you have to walk all the war from atlas stairs down into the frenzied flame village
Popping the mannequin balloons gives you runes.
Most may know this already but I found out 3 days ago so there may be a chance others have missed it
And they're good runes for the time you get there too
Oh man talk about pleasant surprise. I found myself wishing you’d post a new video, not that you’re obligated to lol. Glad to see you putting one up! I clicked pretty quick when I saw haha
Torrent trivialises the lobsters as well.
Love the idea of expanding the alterations
I think it would be cool if there was a way to upgrade armor in a way that you can customize it to be gold or black. Maybe if you get a type of limited loot and use it in a quest to be able to change the type of metal it’s made out of.
The ability to change the armor colors would add so much variety to this game it would be insane;
Manual attack aim works for any asset that was reused from dark souls 3
Great video as always, cheers 🎶✌
It was your short and sweet outro that got me
8:50 that's really cool I never knew that!
9:33 you can also tell they're real when all 3 of them are wearing radahn's armor and using moonveil
The 3 jar knights are fun because out of the 3, there were 4 rivers of blood equipped when I fought them. That's right. One was duel wielding rivers of blood.
I will always cherish any videos this man posts he made my childhood 10 times better
Wow, thank you 😁
9:26 duuude you did me dirty there
Omg i remember doing the great jar and i kept getting a guy with rivers of blood and moonveil and pre nerf sword of night and flame
Project Orochi is pretty expensive for being so unknown, yet I really like their designs and bought the Warden hoodie a couple years ago :)
Screw that purple cape, I had the glitch happen with the Carian Knight set where it's blue bits turned black. It looked so good. I miss it :(
The outfit alteration needs Malenias hair to be removeable and have your own hair hang out the back as an option. While looking cool originally, why cant we remove Malenias scalped hair off the helmet?
I knew the great jar was from other players because when I finally completed it one of the fights was vs a person who had 1 spell (Set themself on fire) and one shield (Tree sentinel shield). There used to be a glitch where you could spam the tree sentinel ash of war when on fire but the ai wasnt smart enough to realise that. But I thank that person for the free win anyway :)
I wonder if the shackles would work on the walking masueoleums the same way they work on illusory walls/floors
Okay but a hoodie with the opening shot of Irithyll from DS3, right after Wulnir, would be *amazing*
I loves the dress bug. Made me think enemies were just going "is that a dress I smell..." dumb little giggles lol
I saw that updated the map for jar burg and was like 'Damn finally!"
Love the Risk background music 🎶 🎵
So there is a very fun interaction with one of the fire spells called Fire's Deadly Sin. If you cast Fire's Deadly Sin, and then you use Black Flame Blade, Bloodflame Blade, or the poison mist weapon art, Fire's Deadly Sin gains the properties of those spells/ash of war. So with Bloodflame blade, you can proc bleeding simply by being near the enemy player. Combo this with the Lightning Ram Ash of Way to catch up to players, and become a nightmarish rolling fireball that stunlocks your opponent with Lightning Ram, dealing constant damage with a Fire's Deadly Sin that's building bleed proc. New favorite stupid PvP build.
Could this be nightmare fuel?
It's finally happened, I've watched a "10 Things You Didn't Know" video about ER and didn't see anything I didn't already know about!
not sure i believe you since we did quite a lot of testing that i havent seen anyone else do but... if its true thats quite impressive!
loincloth enjoyer confirmed
Same here. :/
While I was doing a frenzy run I only used the inescapable frenzy incantation while fighter the great jar champions so I put a build with only inescapable frenzy in the pool
I haven't played a souls like game in months I've just been bored Im normally a heavy pvper but Ive been going to the gym and I don't have time to play I love watching these videos to get a hit of nostalgia
That north east part near the frenzied village I just was trying to bring my friends there and forgot you can’t go from that way.
I think that was my build with the profane greatsword and mausoleum knight chest 😭
Storm wall definitely needs a buff where the projectile is sent straight back to the person that fired/threw it, and let it deal damage. Similarly for Thop's barrier for spells. Currently they're just so sad, and makes you wonder why you'd ever use them over Carian retaliation of golden parry.
I think it should be a chance too or it would be a bit much even for Elden Ring.
Broooooooo the great jar summon with the jar on his head was me!?!?!?
To say the map is misleading in some places might not be true in all cases as it actually be tied to older visions for the game
9:58 all three characters on my play through were bleed builds
I'm at work so I'll watch this later but I'll go ahead and drop a like
I heard somewhere that the uploaded jar knights are indeed player builds but that the game actually uploads them when you get embraced by the snug hug bug Fia.
8:06 confirmed they’re crayfish. Lobsters are predominantly saltwater dwelling and have differently shaped claws, more rounded and thickened pincers compared to the crayfishes narrower and longer pincers.
wow, I'm surprised these are actually some things I didn't know
3:17 just to clarify here, that's the penetrator from Demon's Souls, great video btw, I really hope they add more options for the armor sets
literally everything you said, i didn`t know, except for the great jar part, great vid :D
about the last one... The only situation I really hate auto-aim with ALL OF MY SOUL is when fighting against Dragons.
9:26 I think you parried me there lol
Does your ally's sentry torch reveal the concealing veil player though?
You were the first souls CZcamsr I ever followed bro. Like back in 2014 lmao
That's so wild 😆
when he smacked the dragonfly after killing the lobster....idk why but that was hilarious
"Ok, Bob! I'm ready! Just let me know when you get ready to fire the cannon!"
A transmog system would be awesome. Being able to wear your favorite armor but keep stats from another....please! Oh and a random generator where it randomizes item placement in the game. Would love that to make it fresh
MORE MORE! I SUBSCRIBED!
I LOVE YOUR CONTENT!
@@SunlightBlade ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Holy shit, i think the Jar Duelist you faced with the nox armor & moonveil was my second character 😂 exact armor pieces & hairstyle, + i kept law of regression on to look for hidden stuff but could only use it when I had Godricks great rune active 🤣
The usual messages i saw just before the Great jar Knights summons. "Blood loss ahead, therefore beware of pathetic sort."
RIP Lyndell shortcut I really loved walking through that area backwards
purple cape looks so much better
about the walking mausoleum, one time, i jumped on the top of one which has his weakness in front of the door and not his legs and didn't know how to go down. My friend was choqued cause he didn't know that we could do it, he ever go at the middle
The Jar Village path, I thought it was lore thing.
We had an older map. The Jar had been getting hunted so as a protection, they destroyed the path to their village where the children could grow up safe.
Fun fact; the spell infinite darkness will reveal, or rather, dispell, illusory walls. I think it may or may not even work on the mimics veil. I'd have to test it
