After my recent return to modelling this Panther was/is the only one I have completed out of the hoard of models I bought. I thought practicing on this before I touch an Airfix kit would be more cost effective than ruining a expensive one. Really enjoyed building it & this channel has helped me immensely in learning so much about model making I had no clue existed.

Those old kits are fun to build. Classics. They need a little care, but look great when finished. I still have a couple of them in my stash. Thanks for sharing this.

Yep. Hannomag, Panther A, and T-34/76 Model 1943. All good looking standoff kits, inexpensive, & fun to build.

Do you remember the old Tamiya 1:35 Hunting Tiger, that was a real classic and it was never re-issue!

Had this kit in the stash for, wait for it, 35 years! I'm here because I pulled it and started it yesterday afternoon for a few reasons, one being I want an enjoyable, easy, relatively quick to complete build. Characteristically Tamiya, this kit is all that. Yes we all know in comparison with contemporary kits it's an inaccurate detail dated mould, but I've been doing this long enough and am 'secure enough in my masculinity' not to care about critique from the rivet counting brigade. Dressed up in it's war paint it still looks like a Panther and sufficiently like an Ausf A to be identifiable as such. Did a bit more this morning. I reckon I'll have it completed tomorrow or the day after sans the painting & detailing of course. So far I'm thoroughly enjoying it. A real modelling mojo restorer. Amazed by the parts fit given the original mould of this kit dates from 1968! Characteristic Tamiya. Relatively low parts count, and fall together fit.
Other than the possibly the finishing, I'm doing a no frills out of the box nostalgia build supplied figurines and all. I am countenancing Zimmerit putty application (I have the pattern tools) as it's pretty much a requirement for suspension of disbelief on any Ausf A other than the earliest A hybrids with the D's letterbox MG. I have loads of Dragon, Meng et al more detailed armour including a Panther Ausf G for when I'm in anal detail mode and in the mood to PE my heart out.
Highly recommend this as an inexpensive fast fun build. Great paint mule, relaxing build for experienced modellers just looking for that, or for beginner modellers.

I just bought one of these off Amazon for about $20. So they are still out there and available for cheap.

I bought one recently in Hong Kong, it cost 78 HKD about 10USD or 7.8GBP.
HK has no GST, so it is very cheap if you are not asking much quality for a decent AFV kit!
