    A golden tip. Maybe, most of you know it: Try using brake lesser by using the momentum of the car, maintain a distance from the vehicle ahead and as you see its brake lights, leave the accelerator. And don't accelerate so sudden.

    The biggest TIP you forgot to mention for all newer domestic model owners and all japanese car owners in Pakistan is to clean or replace your catalytic converter. It single handedly is the biggest factor in low fuel economy in Pakistan. Most of such cars aure running on choked up cat. I would suggest you do a universal video on how to clean up your CAT at home. BTW loved your AC maintenance video.

    • @edmondtarverdyan1824
      @edmondtarverdyan1824 Před 5 lety +1

      CAT Con can only be replaced, I am searching web from few days on cleaning cat con, you should keep the catalytic converter in good shape and service it after every 20000kms by any fuel additive, like liquimoly catalytic system clean once it is clogged it is very hard to clean it and restore it to its optimum performance, main reason of choked cat con in pakistan was low grade fuel which has improved this year by strict emission standards as honda filed the lawsuit against attock, shell and pso so fuel quality has improved and now think now catalytic converter choking issue will no more occur in pakistan but still you shoul avoid pso and attock if you want your cat con to work go for shell, caltex or other multinational companies cause pso and attock are still importing low grade petrol.

    • @FoodScientist
      @FoodScientist Před 5 lety +1

      @@edmondtarverdyan1824 You are right ideally it should be changed but mine clogged up in only 10K km run because of the inferior fuel quality in Pakistan. CAT is pretty expensive and since there are no standards or emissions inspection the goal in pakistan is to unclog the cat to increase engine output and fuel economy.

    Use good quality fuel which contains detergents. This keeps the engine clean and runs the engine smoothly. Dont race your engine or labor at low gear. Upshift quickly. Running at low gear burns fuel. At high gear the engine runs smooth and cool, which means less fuel burn. Get the fuel injector nozzles cleaned every year or the carbuerattor clean every year. Keep your wheels aligned and well balanced. Avoid jackrabbit starts and hard braking.

      Thank you. Cars in the subcontinent ( India/Pakistan) are programed for best fuel economy between 50 to 60 km/hour. if you drive faster than that, economy suffers. JDM cars are tuned for best economy between 90 and 100km/hours. Those using older carby engines ( Mehran/ old Cultus ) may have noticed economy is bad on hot summer days. Moisture helps the engine / FICD equipment run smooth, with consequently good economy. You cant do much about the rains, can you. As a rule, use TOP quality fuel, fluids and filters and drive gently and be nice to your car to the extent possible and you will get good economy. Driving hard is thrilling, but it hits the wallet hthanEspecially if your car is old and tatty. i get good economy from a Suzuki Sedan with 200000 ks on the clock.

    • @akhaqan
      @akhaqan Před 5 lety +14

      To the contrary yaar. Engine breaking is the only safe way to control the speed of a car when going downhill instead of riding the breaks. Its has got nothing to do with fuel economy but safety. Breaks will overheat if you ride them, and eventually fail. The mention of engine breaking in this video was totally irrelevant.

    • @edwardcrow8940
      @edwardcrow8940 Před 5 lety +15

      Very true, I was also shocked to hear this. Engine breaking increases the revs hence should decrease the fuel efficiency. Also I don't think that opening the windows may increase the fuel efficiency. It may decrease the fuel efficiency as more air enters the car it will increase the air resistance. With windows closed the justs slides along the car body.

    • @AbdulBasit-fv2gl
      @AbdulBasit-fv2gl Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah i was thinking the same thing how can he even say that. Doing will just put load on you engine its better to let you car burn little more fuel than doing that. And amer khaqan bro you are right but in that case you aren’t decreasing the speed you’re are just keeping you car at low speed so that you use less break to avoid break fail. These both are different cases.

    Salaam,
    Thank you for the informative video.
    I have an opinion to share. Engine braking will result in an extra load on the clutch, pressure plates, which increases the chance of wearing it down earlier than normal. replacing a pressure, clutch plates are more expensive and difficult than spending some extra pennies on fuel/braking apparatus, hence I suggest only use engine braking in hilly areas, where it will help in better control over the vehicle or in emergency situations, otherwise in normal driving conditions, instead of engine braking, I suggest put a lighter foot on the accelerator and foresee where you need to slow so that without having to apply foot brake or engine braking, vehicle will slow down to its required speed, then change the gear appropriately. Please correct me, if my concept about this scenario is not correct, waiting for the feedback on this.
    Regards,

  • @FoodScientist
    @FoodScientist Před 5 lety +40

    2 MISTAKES in the video. First is the ENGINE BRAKING. When you lower the gear you end up increasing the engine rpm. Higher RPM result is more fuel consumption. Second is rolling your WINDOWS DOWN. At higher speed rolling your windows down increase the drag coefficient substantially therefore its actually better to roll up the windows and turn the AC on. I have personally noticed a higher fuel efficiency on the highways. Nice video though.

    1. Air filter should be clean & good quality. It should'nt be thin
    2. Which oil should u use, for this check repair manual inside bonnet. Oil shouldn't be dirty. Change oil on proper time.
    3. Use standard tire pressure for your car. Check it on the car's pillar.
    4. Don't load your car with extra items
    5. If you are driving over 70 speed use air conditioner, it will reduce air resistance as the windows as closed.
    6. Change spark plugs on proper time. If they are not working properly they will not burn fuel properly. Unburn fuel will go to wast. Never adjust the tip of spark plug
    7. When the car is going downhill, slow it with gear instead of using brake.
    8. Clean catalytic converter from time to time.
    9. Drive at 100 km per hour or less speed
    10. Keep the rmp under 3000, the lesser the better.

    Change gears on 2 to 3 (2000 to 3000) RPM. trust me it will improve your average. I get around 14 kmpl in city on my Corolla Gli 1.3 (manual) 2016

    Moving with AC on long drive is better than to move with open windows, due to air resistance fuel efficiency comes down., so move with close windows

  • @syedqammarmohammad6993

    I learned more things by reading the comments. The video is good but it's not comprehensive and some controversies too. I think Pakwheels should make a detailed video on this subject. If you have a manual 5 gear car, then don't drive in 4th gear above 75 kms/hr in order to keep the engine rpm below 2500. Shift to 5th gear at about 70 kms/hr. Also run drive at about 100 km/hr for fuel efficiency on motorways. I think keeping the car clean from underneath by servicing also increases fuel efficiency slightly. Thanks.

    Adnan bhai pls make one video on cng idle and high rpm adjustment with and without A.C. also discuss on restriction air filter hose air flow local mechanics forcefully installing to reduce air flow for gas setting. While you know air flow reduction is not good for engine life and performance.
    Thank you.
    Hope to have your valuable video soon.
