I've got an '02. Bought it because it was cheap and I just wanted a little bike to do yard work with. Now it's my main bike. It gets used more than my Kodiak and Grizzly. I use it for everything from trail riding and yard work to mudding and racing
I think that front bumper is cool
Absolutely amazing how far the industry has come.
Actualy, you have to have it in first gear and then, put it in reverse.
Have one and other then needing new tires, this thing is a work horse. Does not leak oil and fires up every time. I added a small wench to it. Never lets me down.
I like atvs like this.....they are narrow and nimble, making them great for tossing around on tight trails and kicking the end out. This atv makes me reminisce about the days when close-ratio manuals were the order of the day and one could downshift coming out of a turn for an extra burst of rpms and power - not to mention noise and rear-end breakouts. Aahh, the days of yore. You could beat these to shit and not feel guilty about messing up an expensive machine.
Ive had this thing since o2 and it still runs like new.
yamaha are for sure a big fan of Bears lol, Beartracker,Kodiak,Grizzly...
Have an 02 and it looks loke new runs like new to and the revers is my only complaint about it.
The only other thing i dont like is the intake manifold is of poor design. It is bullet proof.
I have more faith in this bike than my 02 grizzly 660.
ya I don't like that reverse ethier have you came up with any thing easier
yamaha did not make a beartracker 4x4, they made a timberwolf, which is the same bike frame
I wouldnt trade my bear tracker for nothing. since 2002 I have over 8000milles on mine and that baby is still running strong. only had to clean the carb once when water got in and change the throttle cable once!!!

@ianator99 Yeah, no doubt. I'm thinking that just because he's been in the business of testing ATVs since 1992 doesn't mean he knows anything about them ;-)
no 1 listen to them the 4wheeler is beast

Hey my fellow beartracker owners, I bought a 2000 a little while ago but had to buy the pull starter. The favor i ask of any of you is if yall can please inform me on the dimensions of the 6 screws/bolts used to secure the pull start to the atv. Please help me out, the spot is uncovered right now and dont want to mess this bad boy up.
what that guy is doing on rocks is something you should never do I did that and it bent the center alignment pins under the engine causing it to leak oil and I didn't know then I heard some funny sounds now I think I got a bad cam shaft roller bearing and a bad wrist pin. and if you look under, it has 1 bar and not a cage protecting the engine so yeah you can smack the bottom of the engine up pretty easly

had a 2001 for 13 years. excellent machine. look at my video on my channel. never gave me any trouble.

this isnt only 2x4, my cuz has one just like it thats 4x4

When compared to the Suzuki Ozark or the Honda Recon. the BearTracker lacks.
