fixing up a 2000 yamaha bear tracker atv the I picked up for $300. I fixed the carb issues, and repaired a couple other issues, as well as revived or restored the faded fender plastics.
These bear trackers are boringly RELIABLE! I bought one same thing supposedly not running i showed up the old man assured me It wouldn't start citing battery sitting for years since it "broke" I put the key in and choked it and wallah old girl fired right up to his dismay I promptly drove it to my truck waiting for the thing to not shift or something and after I tore up old man's grass and did a full gear run thru I happily gave the man 6 bills and have enjoyed it ever since go yammy!!
Awesome video. I stopped to help a guy with a flat tire on his trailer. He had a load of scrap wood he was hauling to the dump. I saw handle bars sticking out and noticed a Yamaha four wheeler. After helping him with the tire he told me that I could have the four wheeler. He said the engine was locked up. Long story short. It had a broken wire on the starter. I rode it yesterday. It's a timberwolf. Definitely needs some love but I am stoked to have my first atv. I've only ever owned three wheelers and go carts.
Nice find. Got a Timberwolf myself I paid $200 for. Put a K&N air filter, full DG exhaust and re jetted the carb. Runs great, sounds great and made a nice difference in power over stock.
Way to go forward, you bought it back to life, these are ol school builds and last if looked after, nice to see you took the time. I'd ride it, good job.
I just bought a 2000 Bear Tracker in fair condition....Replaced the intake manifold and with some carb work runs excellent....It was a much better example than yours however I paid 800 in 2023...Next is brake work. tires, basic maintenance...Plastic, seat, handlebars and controls are good....Will do a deep detail with some paint and decals and she should be a great little work horse and slow trail machine for the kids....Great work on yours I like your style.
I had a 98 250 Timberwolf 4X4. Being 4 wheel drive it didn't go very fast but it would go just about everywhere. I never got it stuck in the snow. I paid it off and bought a 2001 350 Wolverine. I still have it and use it daily. It works great for plowing my driveway in the winter and it goes fast enough for my old butt. 2 wheel drive atv's are more fun to rip on and I see your doing just fine.
I just picked up an 05 Kodiak 450 that smokes. Everything else works good. I just have to redo the top end. Nice bike for the money. Top end is not expensive to do so it will be worth much more when I'm done.
Something I have used to remove paint off metal rims is acetone. Not sure if that would be good or bad for an engine, but something to consider on the metal parts.
I have a 97 Timberwolf, I appreciate the info on cleaning it up. I was interested in cleaning mine, but had no idea on how to go about it. I'll be trying your method. I also have an 06 Bruin its amazing at the quality difference a few years makes. The Bruin is a piece of junk compared to the T-Wolf. Cosmetically looks better, but mechanically inferior.
I wish Yamaha would come back out with the bear tracker and timberwolf 4x4s. I think the world needs some 250cc 4x4s again. Honestly the best thing to market towards right now would be a youth 4x4 atv. Polaris can am Suzuki ect all make youth quads but they are all way overpriced compaired to there Chinese competition. A sportsman 110 is 4k my son has a Tao 125 and a kazuma 150 and they are both sub $1500 new and are almost equal in quality. I just wish the Chinese would make a 200cc 4x4 for kids put 22-24 inch tires under a 350lb machine and my kids could follow me anywhere.

Gotta love the classic live in the poor part of town smoke detector beep every 30 seconds

I had one of these when I was young. You couldn't kill it! For 2wd it went everywhere. Climed great and was a wheelie machine. I miss it

Great video, thanks for sharing. I'm currently working on an 02 Kawasaki Prairie 650, and you gave me some ideas. Great work.
Glad to see you’re back

Nice job. You turned that into a dependable trail boss! Happy riding.

This video is a lifesaver thank you!
Great Job man.

I got mine for free because it has been sitting on my grandma’s property for 10 years and it started right up
Wow very good video mr. bryant
My big bear 250 carb drips non stop all the time. I ran some hose from that carb drain nipple to below swingarm.
