You know what I read somewhere that when the 11th Doctor regenerated he was thinking about Amelia Williams. => 12th Doctor with Scottish accent. And when the War Doctor regenerated, he was probably thinking about Clara Oswald => 9th Doctor with Northern accent. Does this make any sense?

There's no need to argue over my choice of language. For the record, the reason I find it weird is that it makes the Doctor look... normal. It makes Nine's choice of dress even more conventional than it already is. And yes, he's done it on Father's Day, and it's just as weird then as it is on this video.

"The new series, really we want it to be everything the old series was with a great big wodge of 2005 shoved into it as well 'cause I genuinely love the old series.
It's got a sense of humour like it always had. Hopefully it's less studio-bound. I think that'll be the greatest visible change in it. Is that it was terribly, terribly confined in, sort of, three-walled sets. We're doing a lot of it on location. At least, so far, I think about 70% of it is on location. So, that makes the whole picture look bigger, more ambitious, more epic and more modern, frankly."
This is what I have always believed. The new series may be more updated and more modern, but to me personally the feel and tone of the old series is still there. And that's why I love the WHOLE series of Doctor Who, old and new.
By the way, can anyone who saw the initial broadcast of "Rose" on the 26th March 2005 remember what time it was broadcast? I'm thinking of watching the episode this Thursday as my way of celebrating 10 years since Doctor Who's triumphant return to our screens.

I love Eccleston’s Doctor, but I’m glad he was in and out in one season. It worked perfectly, felt like it was always planned that way. It fits with the character’s arc of gradually lifting him both out of his post-Time-War depression and into love with Rose, as well as the first season’s arc of explaining all the different core tenets of the show by ending with the surprise regeneration aspect.

It's kinda sad actually looking back at this now, knowing that Christpher Eccleston at the time was dealing with a lot of mental health struggles as well as drama with the higher up on the Doctor Who set. It is nice seeing that he and Billie worked well together and that he seemed to enjoy playing the Doctor for the fans.

My favourite two from this show and still my favourite series after all these years. I never enjoyed the show as much after Eccleston and Piper left, and certainly not after RTD left...I guess when you think about it I'm not actually a doctor who fan because I dislike 99% of the modern series except the first four, lol. And all this time I thought I liked doctor who.

I'm not going to agree with all of that. But it seemed that the ninth Doctor was certainly more masculine and knew how to handle a relationship.

  • @knightroseandsword.bloodys713

Chris will always be the Doctor. The first series captivated old and new fans of the series. a guy in his forties, who is back from everything, mysterious and wise...With a companion to suit him, a gorgeous teenager (Billie) who longs for a loving father, and with whom she knows she can fall deeply in love... that It was the only secret.

For me theres a give and take kind of thing to both george and rtd: George i feel aims for more complex storylines, storylines that branch out more throughout the season and try to juggle different plot elements all at once and its all practically otherworldly, however, theres also in exchange of that a lack of an in the moment kind of feeling, whereas you might find a single episode a bit wanting when singled out of a given season, and for me the environments and worlds the doctor travels to pales compared to the former, but his style instead insists on making the world a platform for plot devices, something much more mechanical than rtd mock ups, gist of it is that its more story driven and less world building, you might like more of either both. Rtd goes instantly in my mind for more camp, but in a kind of good way, production takes a lot out of the experience during his time but his works were much more ambitious, they featured lots of memorable individual storylines, they were easy to follow, they aimed for a "bigger" feeling, there was this uniqueness to the worlds and aliens they encountered but yes it was campy which it entails it was also quite cheesy, the subplots for romance were okay, either you cringe of the somewhat cheesiness of it all or not, they were just there but thats not what drove his stint for me, it really had to do with the memorability of it, it settled less with seriousness and cleverness to just dive into making its world more interesting, and more of a base for pop culture referencing. Rtd had better premises but had lots of camp at the same time for each episode, george focused more on concept stuff, smart stuff but it takes away lots of anthology aspects from doctor who and makes the world just feeling smaller
