As a person who owns 2 Ferris FB2000s bought in 2021 and 2022, (400+ and 300+ hours respectively) I can say that the electronic controls and motors are very problematic on these. We've rewired and replaced the whole system at least twice on each and still have problems. We also replace the rear tires about 6 times per season as they are used 90% of the time for cleaning pavement. The vanguard engines and hydro-stat drive have worked great though.
From watching this video I would guess that the Scag is much more reliable as there are less moving parts and less electric motors. I like the PTO idea and the price point as well so I will likely get one for my sweeping crew this spring.

Thanks for the thorough review. It's one of the best reviews I've seen. Going through pros and cons. Keep in mind they never break when your not using them its always in the season when everybody is calling you asking you to get their property done asap

Great video this helped me a lot. I've certainly heard of more problems with hurricane than the windstorm.

Great Video comparing both blowers, I have a Ferris Fb-3000 bought (demo with 12 hours) in Sept 2020, so going to my third fall clean-up season, and it's amazing, end up using all year round (April-Nov) as I do mostly commercial places, the best part is more versatile i think as you can add attachments with Front Mount 2" Hitch Assembly, we got a few attachments that save saves ton of time , got the Barrel Transporter Mower Attachment that we can transport a big garbage can with trimming clips and branches and we use it fas well or mulch installation instead of wheel barrow. I don't think you can add any options on the Scag, but it seems a good blower. In conclusion , depending your type work, if is mostly residential maybe you don't need a big blower, and the 2000 will do job as well. Keep up the great work... just subbed

In regards to narrow gates. Naturally we want wider gates. When sending quotes we say "with a wider gate that we can get our larger mowers into there is a xy% reduction in overall cost on the quotation" To date every client opted for the wider gate option.

What fuel do you use with your hurricane blower? I use non ethanol fuel and just hit 100 hrs with zero issues with motor/carburetor.

Love my windstorm. What is that silver wire sticking up from the nozzle? Mine doesn't have that but I've noticed it on the newer ones.

It’s for the direction of the chute’s airflow since you can’t see it from the operators platform

I'm surprised they don't put the vanguard efi on the hurricane/billy goat now that they are a Briggs and Stratton company minimal cost to upgrade for nothing but benefits and longer life

Oil up all those actuation motor doors and stuff on the hurricane they sound bad which can destroy the motors

Good luck finding good workers these days no one works.
By the way I think scag seems to be the overall winner due not having to turn as much on turf. Keep in mind this is normally baby grass because of aeration and over-seeding. Barley turning with the billygoat de roots baby grass.
      Scag all day long !
