    Wonderful news! and thanks so much to both of you doing for this amazing work! 👏😌
    Could be interesting to see up-close pictures of the same model (same setup - camera angle, settings, light… for having the same reference), so we can compare the filaments between each other.

      That's a great idea. I've printed one model for every filament we've done. I wonder how it would hold up to close-up footage? We had initially planned on doing something similar in each video but had to abandon it for time. But we could always do separate videos to show differences across a color or type. I'm liking this idea! Love your videos. I can't wait to find out more about your upcoming projects!

    I have always loved "origin stories" after I get into a book series/TV series/CZcams channel/etc.. Yours is no exception. I have enjoyed your channel and your shorts for over 2 years. You have a clean and flowing style that is easy to follow. Keep up the great content. Congratulations on finding a venue for your skills and having a supportive spouse!

    Hello Courtney, first off I want to thank you so much. I've been watching you since I started this 3D venture with a printer that I had found in a parking lot. A prusa mini in February and now I own six machines and a ton of filament which because of you I've purchased polymaker RD3
    A molin! III max and many others and wanted to keep him dry. So I came up with this idea and I'll be darned if it doesn't work pretty darn good. Oh I can't send you pictures but I took an enclosure. Made some shelves and put a dual filament dryer with the top open. I've got it to 50 Celsius 2% humidity and it works excellent. Wish I could send you the pictures

    I’m super new to 3D printing, barely introduced to it by some coworkers. I recently constructed my own loft bed, but borked some dimensions that require me to add some “feet” or spacers to gain some height. My overall theme is Halo, and with the Halo Infinite launch awhile back I was thinking of making those feet look like the metallic spires found around the campaign map.
    - Does filament type have any impact on weight limits in conjunction with the actual design?
    - Are there filaments translucent enough for say led lights to shine through?
    - Any filaments that act like glass on a sunny day, like able to reflect light so it separates back into a rainbow?

    Really enjoyed this, nice to see why you started the channel.
    As a filament maker I'm also guilty of not putting enough effort into showing the real detail of the filament, I must admit I've never really thought about how important this could be. So thank you, quite an eye opener. I've started brainstorming for a 3DTomorrow character / print piece to showcase the filament, so hopefully will give more of that macro detail people like you might be after. It's obvious really that any detail filaments are going to benefit hugely from this sort of example work, but sometimes the most obvious things are easily missed!
    I wonder whether you've thought about partnering up with filament librarian? They could link to your videos from the plaque cards, it would be great additional exposure for your channel of course, but equally would improve that filament comparison / expectations resource.
    Keep up the good work.

    I'd love a reliable source of reviews for filament - really an extension of what you're already doing. Tell us about the printability, colour consistency, a lot of pretty looking filaments look different printed at different speeds and temperatures so what's the best settings for a given filament?

    • @FilamentStories
      @FilamentStories  Před 2 lety +2

      That's such a good idea. Originally we wanted to make longer videos in wide format on CZcams and cover more information about each filament but the videos seemed to drag and we weren't able to get in the #shorts stream (or Instagram Reels or TikTok) with that format so we switched to short, vertical format. And man oh man is it hard to get much said in that timeframe. I say we "showcase" filaments because there just isn;t time to say much more than that. Ideally, I've wanted to go into more depth about the filaments and do some comparisons and other more technical things with them. I think we're getting to a place where we can do more of that. I mean, I love showing off how pretty a filament is, but it's nice to be able to say more than that. Whew, I bet you weren't expecting such a long, rambling response! Thank you so much for the suggestions; I've got it in the list I'm keeping and you've given me some good ideas for future content!

    Thanks for sharing this story. And you're right, there is no favorite filament.....ever! I've never used protopasta but I'm very interested in trying some out very soon. Would be great to see you working, closer with the protopasta team. Stay awesome! BTW, what I'd like to see if you could share a tutorial on how to combine multiple filaments of the same type (pla for instance) to get one of the craziest designs ever. I'm talking long and short strips, silk, rainbow, marble, clear, UV color changing, glow in the dark, etc all mixed up. Basically a "let's try and see what we get" thing! I have a strong feeling as I'm typing this comment that you've already done this🤔. Sure hope not. But anyway that's what I'd like to see. I'm working on doing this myself🤞.

    • @FilamentStories
      @FilamentStories  Před 2 lety

      OoooOoooo....I like this idea of the craziest model ever. Hmmm, what model would qualify for being "crazified"? I've used lots of little strips for small models, but it requires being there to regularly change the filament. But...there could be a long strip in the middle of the night and then back to changing colors again in the morning. Or, it could be a model that takes only twelve hours to print. I need to think on this. Thank you for the suggestion! [takes note: print craziest model ever]

    • @DroneSkinz
      @DroneSkinz Před 2 lety

      @FilamentStories yea... the craziest model ever! I'm thinking that if various filaments are fused together, then you won't necessarily have to be there. Maybe doing the occasional check to ensure the filament change-over went through the extruder and the hotend successfully, I'm thinking that would be all that's needed. But again we're talking about a plan that may not go according to plan. Going nacho l back to the fusing idea, I recall seeing a video of a gentleman who shows a rather simple procedure of fusing filament with just a candle, scissors, and a shortened bowden tube. I tried it and it does work. Let me know your thoughts. I'm going to give it a go soon.

    I had a spool of SIMAX3D PLA that was a really nice colour of yellow.
    After a while I notice that it was brittle and would break easily even though I had kept it in a bag with a desiccant. I have a filament dryer and used it on the spool and I could get prints out because it would heat up the filament as it would print but at the end when the extruded would park and cool down the filament would snap.
    My question: Is this just a crappy filament or is this normal. I have a lot of other filament and so far none has done this. Should I stay away from SIMAX3D or is this just a fluke/bad spool. Your thoughts?
    I am not sure if this is worth a video or a quick answer.
