    I was set to get the larger polisher but now I think the Random Orbit Polisher will be a better choice for me. Thanks!

    Yes there is dedicated glass polish and glass polishing pads. Either machine would work for glass polishing as long as they have enough power.
    Many pro's don't use rotary at all anymore (including myself) because the long throw DA's have gotten so good. I am personally a forced rotation DA polisher fan - the most notable forced rotation DA being the Flex 3401 which is what I use. There isn't a right or wrong type of polisher to use, it just comes down to what you prefer and what gets you the best results. Forced rotation dual action polishers are my favorite because they are the best of both worlds. The forced rotation will let you get a high level of cut like a rotary but since it has a random orbital motion it will prevent damage that can be done by a rotary.

      It actually depends on how many batteries you have. And I wouldn't recommend this polisher.
      Make no mistake, I have no problems with Dewalt, I actually LOVE Dewalt tools, but, this is just an area/profession they don't really know anything about.
      I just bought an Adams polisher. It's cordless as well.
      It was 275 bucks on Amazon, with two batteries. If you want the Dewalt with just one battery, it'll run you 450 bucks.
      The Dewalt has a 2.1 mm orbit, and goes to 5500 RPMs. It's more of a sander than it is a polisher.
      The Adams has a 15 mm throw, and goes up to 6500 RPMs You're going to cover much more surface area, much quicker, with the Adams, than you are with this, for MUCH less money.

    I've never seen a rotary cause holograms on glass, Chips are too deep to remove by polishing in my experience. It will polish off the film you get over time that makes the glass harder to clean and cause chattering wipers.

    2200 RPM? Adams makes one that does 6500 RPM. Considering that most companies that are actually geared towards detailing make models that do at least 5000 RPM, I'd have to say that, 2200 RPM sounds a bit anemic......

    • @gregsullivan7408
      @gregsullivan7408 Před 4 lety

      Agreed, but I'd only use > 2200 with small pads.
      Edit: I no longer agree with this complaint - I agree with others, that have pointed out that full size *rotary* polishers, used for detaing, normally top out at about 2200rpm, and this cannot be compared to the OPM (operations per minute) of an orbital polisher.

    • @cadenherron4927
      @cadenherron4927 Před 4 lety

      You both are talking about opm (orbits per minute) if the number is that high and that’s on a da polisher not a rotary. If you used 5000 rpm on a rotary buffer to paint correct a car you’d burn straight through that paint in one second. Most detailers never even go past 1400 rpm on a rotary.

    • @gregsullivan7408
      @gregsullivan7408 Před 4 lety

      @@cadenherron4927 Smaller pads can safely be used at higher speeds, because the velocity of the pad at the edge is proportional to the pad diameter. That's why Flex make a mini polisher that goes to about 8000rpm.
      I was, and am, definitely referring to *rotations* per minute, of a rotary polisher.

    • @cadenherron4927
      @cadenherron4927 Před 4 lety

      Greg Sullivan yes but this video is not about a mini polisher therefor your comment was not relative to the whole entire video then... so not sure what the point of the comment would have been on this video because a rotary of that size you would never need over the maximum of what that machine produces. It’d be pointless to even use the max of what that machine produces as it will cause more heat which is a counterpart of cutting down clear coat. It doesn’t allow the compound or polish to work properly. So I guess I just don’t understand the point of your comment on this video as you will never see a rotary that size go over 3000 rpm and someone who knows what they’re doing will only use the machine between 1200-1600 anyway. And my bad you won’t see newer rotaries go much over 3000.
