    Can’t go wrong with most Milwaukee tools. I have a bunch of 9AH and 12AH batteries I use with my miter and table saw which might be a bit heavy on the polisher but last all day. The little M12 polisher looks like it might be handy for small jobs too.

    For those in the UK, local and very popular brand Sealey brought a new cordless DA the CP18VOP in October 2019. It's a great tool, very robust and economical too. Get a second battery though. Highly recommended for use with AF Secret Weapon coupled with an organge Lake Country foam pad for light correction or paint enhancement.

      B Stewart ExecutiveCarCare just polish then yes if it's fully charged. If you are doing buffing and major paint correction then you will need both batteries. Usually that takes long enough that you can keep alternating batteries as needed but a corded buffer is still best for big jobs

    If Milwaukee could team up with Griot's for an M18 powered G15/G21 or an iBrid competitor based off the the M12 platform, man I'd buy one in a jiff. Cords drive me nuts, even with organization. Auto Fanatic, since you have the network, you should pitch the above ideas to Griot's and Milwaukee, if you can.

      Makita has a cordless version of the 5000c gear driven/free spin DA. Flex has the XFE 15-150 cordless DA as well, and the cordless 3401 is coming soon.
      I'm with you on hating the cords. I'm getting close to just buying one, but there is very little information or reviews and really just not much content of any kind out there covering any cordless DA, so I've been hesitant to make the purchase. Wondering if the torque and power and overall performance is equal to corded machines and how the batteries hold up over time and lots of charges..

    I own this and the mini m12 polisher great tools. I didn't buy the kit because the 5.0 batteries are not suited well for tools like this and grinders. Try a 9.0 or a 12.0 really any of the high output batteries and it's a night and day difference. With the 12.0 I didn't feel like it threw the overall balance off at all.

  • @jdisdetermined

    The double sided pads and quick release system looks very cool. But how much space is there between the face of that pad and the metal shaft attachment piece in the center of it?
    I'm sure it is safe but it looks very strange and potentially risky to me seeing that exposed metal so close to the panel surface and less than an inch of soft compressible foam separating them. 😲😲

    what I hate the most about this buffer is that the battery is in the scuff zone. If you know how to use these tools you know you can "walk" them and the battery gets in the way in certain situations. I think they could have placed it in a better location. I think they could work on noise dampening on all of these. I have been using buffers or polishers for decades what ever you like and they will cause your ears to ring. I was a custom automotive painter for years.

    Been using this machine for years. The only major complaint about this machine is the orientation of battery pack in the back. It's quite easy to accidentally touch the paint / panel especially if you're doing paint correction to concave panels. FLEX offers a much better solution regarding this aspect.

  • @Mr.Everything
    @Mr.Everything Před 5 lety +1

    Out of curiosity I was just looking up “cordless polishers” yesterday to see if they even existed so the timing of this video is great. Out of the ones I’ve looked at the Milwaukee seems to be the best. I’ve been wanting to get into their battery system so when I decide to I’ll probably get this tool for the two batteries and charger which is a better deal than one battery and charger with their impact gun. For now I’m looking for a cheaper cordless polisher just to lightly polish my car in a few spots and I’m not sure between the Ryobi 10in, 6in, or the Meguiars DA drill attachment. I think the Meguiars is the highest quality out of those and I have a good Ryobi drill with a few 4ah batteries but the pads are only 3in and I have a Grand Marquis so I’m not sure if that’s the best combo. Plus I don’t know how natural it would feel to be holding a drill to polish a car. The Ryobi 10 inch seems to be better quality than the 6in but I feel 10in would be too big and not as versatile for all jobs. I think the 6in would work the best if I could modify it to accept regular hook and loop pads but there aren’t really any videos on CZcams to see how it performs. I’m not sure if any of these cordless polishers would be worth it just to do my car occasionally or if I should save up and just get the Milwaukee.

      @autofanaticcars  Před 5 lety

      Eric i do not polish cars every day but work on high end solid surface (bronze, stainless) and you need as much weight, RPM and heat to refinish solid surface, the lighter machines are good for cars that need basic correction but whenever i wet sand an entire car i always use the heavy rotary as it makes cutting much faster in the shop without me having to use the most aggressive compounds that dust out like crazy. I plan to try the M18 in the shop soon to see how it can work on a freshly painted panel that was 1500 sanded.

    • @ericwelborn3431
      @ericwelborn3431 Před 5 lety

      @@autofanaticcars That may be great for your solid surface jobs but you didn't clarify that in the video. Obviously, over the past 30 years, rotary polishers and grinders have become lighter and they will continue to drop in weight. That 20lb polisher might be what you like to control on a hood but horizontal surfaces make up about 1/3rd the surface area of a car and even less a truck or SUV. The rest of the car it is extra weight for you to hold up. Really sucks on a boat. Try that Rupes out asap, you'll be glad you did. It cuts 1500 great.

    I believe that part of the reason the flex is 200 dollars more is because it's a DA polisher.
    I've been detailing cars for about 30 years. I've even moved up into the DA arena.......no more worrying about burning paint, and getting needless swirls.
    Almost no one uses a simple rotary buffer anymore. They're dangerous, they burn paint, and most of today's polishes aren't really designed for them.
    So....i'm going with....no.
    For about the same price, you can get a decent cordless DA polisher.
    Time for companies like Dewalt and Mikita, and Milwakee to catch up. They make great tools, no doubt, but.....a little behind the times....
