Thank you for your honest reviews on these cordless polishers. I just got the desalt and brother you were right. Just used it for the first time and wowza what a machine. Thanks again
I have the Dewalt and it is a beast of a DA polisher. So convenient with no cords and I already have the batteries. I do paint correction on my daily drivers followed with sealant wax and this unit rocks! I use all sizes of the battery, but the smaller ones 3amp and smaller don't last more than half the car. I agree 5 or 6amp work best. It is not too heavy compared to other DA's that are corded. Great review!
Great review. I’ve been waiting for someone to review this. I’m a Dewalt guy also. My polishers are the only corded tools I have left. I will be adding this to my Dewalt cordless setup!
I really like the fact that it’s cordless! Nice review, Josh.
Not an issue but a true comment, I watch all the detail channels you are the first one to talk about using full speed as a preference. Love your videos, am a subscriber 😁👍
Been using it for six months and love the convenience. It does help get through the average enhancements, but I don’t use it for heavier corrections. It’s a bit heavy (nit picking) but it is a quality tool and seems like it will last easily as long as a Flex.
I really do like your videos Josh. You have a style of presenting that I just enjoy! I am getting ready to pick up one of these polishers once I find the full kit. I need a couple extra batteries and they cost way too much purchasing separately. Keep up the good work there sir.
Really nice DA, great review Josh 👍😁
Bro this crazy I just got mine in today!! Love the dewalt line up
I have one, I was already part of the Dewalt eco system it’s 15 mm and has a ton of power!!!! I already had 6 batteries and I got mine at lowes with a 10 percent vet discount for 224.00.
I just became aware of an adapter for this platform. The adapter will allow you to use the 18 volt Ridgid battery with this polisher. I'll be picking up solely the polishing tool and using it with Ridgid batteries.
Congratulations on the uptick in subscribers. I've enjoyed the content since the beginning of your channel. Be well my friend.
Replacing the grease makes it feel amazing.
Does it make it quieter? Mine is way to high pitched especially compared to Rupes
I've always dealt products. Great review. Love your channel
Great information. Just bought a Max Shine polisher. (The "T" screws are actually "Torx" screws - just a fascinating fact). Thanks for the great content.
Great information, thanks eager to receive my order, thanks too for the links.
Good demo/video Josh. Would you provide a description of the pads, and what their best at? Like use the red for 'X' and the black for 'Y'... just ask'n.
I am so hoping Dewalt comes up with a 3” cordless random orbit!!
Great review. Quick question when will you have the mjjc foam cannon back in stock?
The first time I was here before actually buying this thing , here I am again after doing +- 20 cars in very few stages of polishing , Im using 5ah batteries ( 2 of them ) each one stays with me for an 45 mins at maximum performance but when I use it at lowest performance , each battery works for almost 2 hours , great deal is , these batteries charge for an hour so 2 pack is very comfortable with 5ah
This thing is very crisp , confident and agressive giving great results , I was not sure DeWalt can do something like this but they did and this works very well , one issue I have is vibriting batteries when I dont use them as a grip .
Thanks to God for letting me work on it .
GBU.
5Ah bat work 20-25 mins with 3750-4000 opm loaded ( real work on the car )
No loaded over 50 mins on 5500 opm (max speed)
(New battery)
Charging time 5ah bat with 4A charger is 80mins.
12 A charger 25mins.
Thanks for your video. Do you know if you can the pad size be changed to a smaller wheel in order to work smaller areas on a car? You have a great channel.
That backing plate setup is a proprietary connection. Standard backing plates from other brands won't fit this tool if you ever need to replace it. I use mine a lot for roofs and hoods. It's a bit heavy for me on vertical panels. The vibration control is great though. This tool hits way above its price point IMO
Amazing video and review I’m looking at getting one as I’ve recently brought the drill so I have 2 4ah batteries ready to use would you say that I would be able to complete a full one stage Correction with the two batteries?
Love a good cordless option. I'm a milwaukee guy so I hope they come out with one but definitely will consider this one. Thank you for the review and recommendation as always 👊🏾
I guess for the trigger lock depends if your are left or right handed .... I have this really good machine.
nice review
Hey Josh, so using the all in one 3D speed, how many yellow polishing pads do you need for a sedan type car. And do you have to keep cleaning the pad as you do different sections? Thanks
Cordless is the way to go. I went with the SPTA 15mm long throw DA though.
That polisher I absolutely INSANE
I own the new super big foot 21 and I find myself reaching for the desalt 7/10 because of how practical it is
Started watching you 6 months ago I enjoy watching all your videos don't know if I heard it or not but how much does that polisher weigh?
Great video and option👍
Sir thanks so much which has more noise? The SPTA version 2 or this dewalt? Very much obliged
Do you think that this would would for a final polishing of aluminum?
I have everything cut on my semi but need something to give a quick buff every few days.
Great balance with the battery installed. The weight concerns are a case of overthinking it. By far, the best cordless option out there. I looked at all of them and tried out four different ones. I went with the dewalt. And I'm really glad I did.
This polisher is absolutely junk. I am on my second one. They are china junk. I have 2 5ah powerstack batteries and 1 15ah flexvolt battery and once the battery goes from fully charged to 2 bars the buffer loses speed so than have to turn it to max speed and once it drops to 1 bar fuck it mise well do it by hand. I went through all 3 batteries to buff out a brand new 23 Nissan frontier and had to charge a battery to finish. I wasted way over 500 for china junk and DeWalt don't stand behind their products. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF SHIT SPEND A LITTLE MORE GET A FLEX
I almost bought this machine but I opted for the SPTA cordless 15mm which was half the price. Granted, it's not a DeWalt, who make amazing tools, but I am just a weekend warrior so I only polish a couple times per year so the SPTA with all the accessories just made a little more sense to me. Then I could get all the pads I needed with the difference in price. The SPTA "kit" came with a LOT of stuff too including all kinds of tools, pads, bag, two batteries, charger, etc. If I were a pro detailer, the DeWalt makes much more sense since you'll be using it on a daily or at least weekly basis most likely. If the SPTA ever does take a crap, I will upgrade to this DeWalt but so far so good on the SPTA machine. It's a pretty nice machine for the price.
That’s awesome!!! I always say to use what works for you. No need to go buy the most expensive items!!
Great review, Josh. I'm in the market for my first cordless machine and this is super helpful.
Your point about the trigger lock is absolutely a big deal and a perfectly valid gripe. It's not just "what you personally like".
It's always the little things, right?. Working efficiently is all about flow and any hiccup is a groove-killer. I use a Griots G9 for quick jobs, like an all-in-one, and the trigger lock is super frustrating-almost flush with the body, hard to locate by feel, and made worse by no variable-speed trigger. I use a couple other machines and when I come back to the Griots, I have to "re-memorize" the hand and finger movements. The last job I did, I thought about throwing the machine in the garbage it pissed me off so bad. And it's an otherwise decent, inexpensive workhorse.
Having to use your forefinger to lock the Dewalt's trigger is not well thought-out design. Period. The trigger lock needs to be a big fat button you can easily locate and depress WITH YOUR THUMB. Polishing for long periods is hard on the hands-the vibration, the weight, the awkward positions, constantly adjusting the angle to keep the machine from stalling, etc. We don't need some weird finger contortion for something as fundamental as locking the trigger.
Thanks for your reviews and opinions. They're informative and enjoyable.
Correction: I've always liked DeWalt products. Great review. Love your channel.
Very good Buffer
Good info Josh. I too have Blk n yellow tools. Been debating on staying with DeWalt or going over to team RED whether it be "M" or "F".... my cordless DeWalt Rotary handle is a tad too short for me. Wish the ergonomics were a tad better. Take care Josh
Have you found somehow to replace the backing plate for a 6 inch one?
Not video of car washing but what would you recommend for bugs on the front bumper
What the best polishing and buffering pads to use on those can you recommend me and where to buy them thanks
Hello, I would like to know if the Dewalt DCM848b polisher can be fitted with a rotating brush to wash, mattresses, furniture, carpets?
Thanks for this review! I want to switch to this DeWalt as I have a ton of other DW tools, but I'm wondering...what are my options for 3" or even 7" accessories? I'm not sure what brands/attachment styles are compatible. I've been using a HF (Chicago Electric) DA with the yellow foam/hook&loop backing plates to which I slap on my Hexlogic pads. Will I need to buy new adapters or accessories?
Still hoping Milwaukee makes one! A little heads up, you may wanna mention everyone check their bell notifications. I had to select ALL again. For some reason it changes to the default on its own. Keep up the great Content brother!
Thanks so much! I’m not sure why you tube does that… I’ll keep an eye out on Milwaukee as well!!
Milwaukee has one in their M18 line of tools. Last time I looked it was $279.99
@@chasejones3456 they have a rotary and a hand polisher. But haven’t made the leap yet to come out with a DA. Or orbital. Really hoping they do!
Not sure they will. They were one of the first to offer a cordless polisher (rotary) and that was years before the others
Josh, as a novice to car polishing I purchased a Milwaukee 21mm cordless polisher instead of the 15 that everyone recommends. Do you think it would be best to sell it or should I replace the backing plate with the 5 inch instead?
Have you got your hands on the milwaukee one yet?
Can you use the 20v XR 10AH batteries with this? Edit: got the answer after watching for the second time. Missed it the first watch.
Hello, I just got this tool! I noticed that there's some sort of rattling noise inside by the head of the machine, is that supposed to be normal? Thank you for the video and answer
Muy buen video. Interesante mquina y muy buena marca De Walt
Can you switch between dual modes? Oscillation to rotation?
Backing pad are same with dewalt orbital sander?
what pads etc do you suggest for this machine
Milwaukee polisher any thoughts on this machine
How do you change the pad out to accept generic 3" pads
Hey josh is 15mm ok for entry level. Or should i go 8?
Nice review, definitely want one. Been wanting a cordless polisher and this is nice because i also do remodeling and like the idea of being able to share batteries with my other tools. Thankfully dewalt tools are typically on the lighter side and the ergonomics have always been very nice with them. I understand the trigger lock, thats how they all are but i could see why it could be a little annoying when comparing it to other polishers
I’m completely use to the trigger lock now. The only issue is now when I switch to my plug on polishers those trigger locks seem weird now
Amazing how that works lol. From using their drills for so long when i finally bought my 3 inch polisher that had the trigger lock that most polishers have, it just felt so weird and uncomfortable. Is the dewalt still a go to polisher for you?
It might be my next investment
Did it come with a bail handle??
What is the price? Does it come with any pads?
Key pros of this DA which I own.
1)Correction or sealing roofs. The weight of the machine helps for harder to reach middle areas.
2) adapter plus Milwaukee batteries works. This is what I use as Milwaukee is slacking
3) friend uses his with the new powerstack batteries and it's his go to for enhancements, AIO etc. New battery technology and possibilities
4) when not in use stands up on its own depending on battery
I didn't see/feel speed change from 4500 to 5500; did you?
What’s the best size battery to balance the weight of this 3/4/5? Ah.
I just clicked on your Amazon link and it's $374 that's way more than Lowe's. I work at Lowe's and I get a 10 % discount so I will buy it at work.
Nice yea the 10% is really good! The tool only I think is just about 290 on amazon
Better than the Ryobi?
Would y’all prefer this dewalt over the Kobalt polisher?
Josh, dewalt or Milwaukee??
What about batteries how much would the batteries cost
Does anyone prefer this over the Milwaukie. I just picked the new milwaukee and find vibration horrible
Oh by the way I bought the Dewalt just because it was a DW, couldn't be happier ☺
Does DeWalt recommend the XR20v max batteries or the flex volt 20v/60v battery pack?
It doesn’t specify but I’ve ran both of them on this machine and didn’t notice any difference in performance
When charging the batteries, will it work on a 220v outlet? Or is strictly for 110v?
Hey should I buy the Dewalt cordless I was looking and griots g 15 its corded griots has 15 mm throw and 5 inch ba king plate
That griots is a great machine. But if you want Cordless I’d go dewalt for sure. It performs really well!! But factor the cost of batteries into it as well. You can also get a maxshine m15 pro. That’s my go to corded polisher. If you buy it in the maxshine site and use promo code imjoshv15 you get 15% off!
Post up the polisher (tool only) and battery weights when you get a chance. Highly relevant info. needed in pre-purchase decision.
@@timkinley1779 Touché! CZcams is a google product. Their video platform allows for openly shared comments to the for further inquiry on topics they mention briefly but were not fully covered in their video product review. In this case the author wasn't prepared with his normally provided scale information when comparing his current corded vs. now battery only polisher. So I inquired further with my comment above.
@@altillman1448 I guess we're different. I'm not going to ask another grown man to do something that I'm more than capable of. I don't think he owes me anything to satisfy my wants.
IDK, the fact that you did t review it after a correction sends a message. I’m sorry, I’ll stick with my corded Maxshine.
Hello,
I am hesitating between the dewalt or the shinemate EB351/15.
Do you have experience with both?
oh man, honestly the shinemate wasnt even on my radar. I will try and pick one up. However, I can say o love the Dewalt. And they would probably easier to get batteries and deal with any issues
@@imjoshv
Thanks for your fast reply m8!
I my first preference seems to go to the shinemate anyway because of the reviews. The only thing I doubt about the shinemate is that it stalls pretty quickly.
Therefore I would rather go to the dewalt but I am not in the system yet so with the package you can only charge 1 battery at a time.
Do you think with 2 batteries you have enough for a compound + polish stage? And how long is the charging time of the dewalt battery?
@@arkoboy100 It depends on the charger you use, but they are pretty fast. I actually have the inverter charger. from dewalt amzn.to/3IWptnT
Please understand I'm being a smart ass , I don't have a problem with the trigger lock. I'm LEFT HANDED 🤣. MAD RESPECT FROM EAST LONG BEACH 💯
ha it was made for you!!! I use this machine so much that its weird for me when its on the other side now.
Love the content! Hey I'm starting out learning to polish, can you please recommend a starter polisher? Nothing breaking the bank if possible its for personal use for minor swirls and scratches
He made a previous video about that exact question. To save you time he recommended the maxshine m8s
Griot's Garage G9 is also a great choice. Lifetime warranty on motor.
@@jonathanmariani5627 honestly as long as it’s a DA polisher you’re okay. Like the guy above said the griots G9 is a great choice it’s more expensive but from what I’ve heard it’s the gold standard of entry level polishers it’s around $150 the m8s is $90 so definitely won’t break the bank. I personally have the m8s I’m a noob but I’m able to get results.
I bought this 2 pack of batteries on Amazon for the Dewalt. Basically you get Two batteries for the price of one dewalt battery and I can do my entire car with one battery if it dies I'll put it on the charger while I use the fresh one. Oh and my car is a Honda Accord. Hope this help someone. 2 Pack Waitley DCB200 6.0A Replacement Battery Compatible with Dewalt 20V Max XR Tools
Hello everyone
I just received my polisher kit and the tool says made in china. It’s dated 2019. Did I get an old model? Currently December 22nd 2022
That thing is better for polishing
Ok to anyone that can answer this please do. I have the DeWalt da I will not say I love it I like it but found 2 issues. 1 the stupid 4 t20 screws backing pad. I been to home depot Lowes and online I can't find a backing plate. My harbor freight da I put a 5in 3m backing plate on and hands down a beast no way a pad would ever fly off. The DeWalt ah not so much kinda weak Velcro. I only use 5inch pads and can't find a backing plate to fit this stupid configuration. 2 the batteries die quick. I am using the 5ah was going to buy a 12ah till I see it's like 300. I think DeWalt missed the bullseye. They need to go to the center screw da plate and figure out the damn batteries. I started with 2 fully charged 5ah batteries did a 1 step on a 07 Camry used 2 batteries and had to take one off charger.
Thank you for describing the problem you have with this product you really opened my mind upon wanting to buy this polisher.
FYI Dewalt batteries are on the "last light" of battery capacity starting at 50%.
@imjoshv supposedly, yes. How that translates from battery to battery, tool to tool, is probably wildly variant depending on the battery-to-tool type relationship (xtreme, flex-volt etc.)
dumb/noob question - Dewalt also makes a random orbital sander with the same 5" hook & loop backing pad - it's lighter, quieter, and about a third of the cost of this RO polisher. It seems that the same polishing pads/consumables should fit on the sander. Obviously you wouldn't want to use a tool covered in sawdust to polish a car, but why not use a dedicated (i.e. clean) RO sander like that for car polishing instead of a RO polisher? Is the throw distance the key difference, or is there more?
FWIW the 7" has an speed range of 800-2200!! The 5" is 2000(?) to 5500! NOT the same beast with a bigger 'base'....
It's made for left handers!

This is a biased review. This didn’t stand out anymore than the Ryobi polisher other than the brushless motor. You had DeWalt batteries already. Got it.
This is a significantly better machine the the ryobi. I think the ryobi is great for the diy, but the dewalt is a much more professional machine. This one and the Milwaukee are very comparable. The price for the ryobi is hard to beat though

Great vid as usual! I love my Dewalt DA! Cords are dead lol. I used it on this paint enhancement and more. Check out the video if u like czcams.com/video/yULeNnAx1Ms/video.html
its a piece of $hit. $220 for a machine that lasts 10 minutes per battery. I true hassle to have to stop what you are doing to change the battery. I cant send mine back fast enough
Milwaukee does the trigger to lock it in beautiful
That’s like the Milwaukee 50 mm throw
How about the Milwaukee 15 mm throw come on
I did a review on that one too! It’s actually what I use most of the time now. It’s slightly smaller than the dewalt so it’s nice to use
Sorry Milwaukee 15 mm throw
I've had both the DeWalt cordless rotary and DA for over a year now. Awesome tools. More power than a Rupes and no cord hassle
