It seems like we are all racing for who can do the fastest fast forwards in our videos!
Haha!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> (20x fast forward)
What about a fast forward inside a fast forward? Has anyone done that yet?
haha. I had to go up to 600% on my first (only) video! I'm trying to figure out the balance between content and length. You guys make it seem easy!
***** and Jay Bates' nail gun synchronized to the beat... those are also very mesmerizing.
I love that you're not afraid of self inflating mattresses or bright paint choices! Very cool project!
I love that he is not afraid of the climbing up ladder with just few inches away from a running fan.
I've been wanting to put a Murphy bedroom in a spare bedroom. Your tutorial is going to save me so much time. Thanks Steve!
I play all your videos at 1.25 speed because I don't have a lot of time to watch, but thanks for all your help. You're instructions have been indispensable.
lol "favorite deep disembodied voice!" Love the bed! Mattress looked very nice and it really did come to life. I saw a show once where they ran over a memory foam mattress with a "steam roller" you know those pavement flattener things and it came back to its original shape no problem.
Really nice project!
Chris
I like, no surprise there. I live in a rented home, so I didn't want to bolt a Murphy mechanism to the floor, so I used a kit from Create-a-bed, their plans are fully diagramed and the guy there cutomized the plans and the gas lift system for my, already owned, overized, pillow topped, king size mattress, for no extra charge. I love it.
The kit you used here appears to also allow for minimum overhead mounting with minimum modification to the house, I like it, the build seems simpler cause the design is way less ornate, you appear to have made up for that with your bold paint choices, great job.
By the way those special screws are like the ones found in most IKEA flat packed furniture (I have assembled literally tons of them), they appear to be designed for holding different forms of that really heavy particle/press board they use, it pulls together and holds stuff together that is quite a bit weaker than plywood, so should work great here.
I sleep on one of these every night, its a lot of fun to get the space back in the morning :-)
Great job once again. I was just talking to my wife about converting our permanent guest room into an office, hence not wasting 1 room for 360 days a year when we dont have guests. Thanks again for the inspiration
Hi Steve, I liked yr videos. Please show us more projects that requires only, handsaw, drill, 2×4 etc. Most people don't have bulky, expensive shop equipment.
I thought you were going to let that mattress spring open on top of you. lol That's the most cheerful Murphy Bed I've ever seen! Nice work sir!
I love that you have all the tools anyone will ever need.
I'm so glad you used a casper because thats what I wanted to use in my bed!
Quick tip. Head down to the hardware store and pick up some pipe couplers in the plumbing department. They work pretty well for extending shorter clamps. Loved the color, by the way.
Nice build, Steve! I just built one myself a few months ago using the Create-A-Bed kit. That kit came with pretty good instructions with lots of drawings and also included a DVD showing the entire build process.
So great!!!! I hope to someday build a place that has organization,
hidden storage, secret rooms and cubbies plus Murphy beds and as many of
the great ideas sites like yours can share!
This was so entertaing, now i want to go build one of these!!
I tell my company to bring their own bed roll so the floor is not so hard. That way they won't stay too long.
Thanks for sharing Steve! It's always fun to watch your videos!
Nice work! Thanks for using cleats, brackets and straight screwing (instead of pocket holes). This is more of a real DIY job that regular guys can handle. Thanks for sharing!
How can anybody give this a thumbs down? Great video
Hahahaha, I loved the way you advertised that mattress. That was funny. Thanks for posting this! It was fun watching it all come together!
Nice project. I am glad to see that you got a current style kit than we did. Ours used feet out of thin wall tubing, with a thin wall tubing cross piece. The cross piece had a threaded insert welded in, and it didn't take long for that weld to break. The wooden cross piece is definitely a better idea.
I think it's cool that this bed is in a craft room! I'm in the process of converting my bedroom into my work studio and was toying around with the idea of doing a Murphy bed. I was obsessed with them as a child. hehe I think it would be cool to paint the underside of the bed with a layer of magnetic paint so you could have a large magnetic pin board when the beds not in use!
My daughter asked me to build her a bedroom downstairs when she and her older sister were outgrowing the shared space they had. She's now in the small room that I built and since moving in she's been asking for a Murphy Bed. She is going to love this!!
Congrats on getting renewed sponsorship from Micro-Jig. I bought a couple of these before I started watching your videos and find them so very useful in many different ways for the table saw, jointer, & router.
I think that was the funniest MicroJig ad to date :D I really love how you make these sponsorships funny :)
This seemed really complicated but ended up not looking too hard and turned out looking great! Thanks for another great video Steve.
Refreshing to see a color other than "clear coat". You did a great job on the bed.
Your house is painted just like your projects! Cracked me up.
***** That movie is everywhere nowadays. Even here.
***** My house does, and it is boring as f...olks... Old folks... Like really old... But it goes nice with the interior... Gray that is, not old folks... They tend to talk about the war and bring the mood of the room down...
I really enjoy watching your videos. I especially like that you use some great bright colours. Thank you so much.
This was pretty great! Thanks for taking the time to show!
This was great, thanks so much, Steve!
Great job Steve. Love your work.
Very nice.! I need to do that in our spare bedroom/office. Memory foam mattress in a box is for sure the way to go. Order online, delivered to your door no mattress salesmen to deal with. we've had ours for 7 years still as comfortable as the day we got it, eat that big boxspring mattress store ;)
I love the idea of Murphy Beds, but I've never seen one in person. Yours turned out great, Steve. It looks like the hardware kit works well.
This is really cool! I enjoyed watching you build the hide a bed. I love the color too!
Omg I bet you’re the best dad ever I love this
Huh, I was actually looking for ways to clear up space with where I sleep.
I was considering getting a futon or something similar, but now I'm thinking of just making one of these.
Thanks.
We have a king size Casper and love it!! Good choice on sponsor!
Your ad insertion skills are the best in all of CZcams
Good tip on drilling the holes, Great project.
omg I love this bed now I just need someone to make it for me!
Great project!
You skipped over the part I wanted to see most. How did you put the bed onto the spring levers?
Со своей сраной рекламой каспера все пропустил!!!
Great job and thanks for teaching us how to do it!
Your a DAMN GENIUS!!! Their plan was trash!!! I almost thought I would have to give up on my project!!! Cutting is the HARDEST PART! Thanks man! I’m subscribed and my bell is set for when you post a video!!
Great... Now I need a Murphy bed.
Thanks Steve...
I love your "truck - plywood - cutdown - workflow"
Classic Ramsey colo-rama :)
Another great job there, thanks for the video!
Very nice and thanks for the info i have one those on my list as soon as i finish my bathroom vanity!!
love your work, been fallowing your channel for a year now.
greating from mexico.👍
I'll have to add this to the list of stuff for my husband to make for when we get our own house. lol
Also, I didn't know your son worked for Aperture Science. I hear their boss is pretty crazy, but the cake is nice. ;)
*****: Woodworking and Space Saving....together? It does not get any better than that! Thank you for the excellent video. ~Loyal M.M. Subscriber down in South Florida.
Awesome project! Love the boldness of the color and the design!
That looks fantastic! I really enjoy this idea.
I've slept in a Murphy bed before; there was one on the first floor of this house I lived in. I had had surgery, was kind of loopy, and I couldn't navigate the steps very well so I had my radio moved into that room with the Murphy Bed in it, and I had a nice sleep in the bed with my radio and my cat, Leroy
Nice to see you working on a large project again.
Great project Steve, loving the Easter eggs at the ends of your videos. Princess meow meow!....lol
The project was very cool, but your son's Aperture Lab jacket that was the coolest thing I've seen on the internet today. I'd rather be testing...
Built a Murphy a few years ago much like this one (the Rockler kit). Had the SAME experience with a bed! Thanks Steve - great post.
Meant to mention that I had thought about a desk on the exposed side of the folded bed, but couldn't quite get it straight in my head. I did run into some versions on the lumber jocks site:
lumberjocks.com/projects/tag/murphy+bed
I see your kid loves the video game Portal just by the jacket he was wearing... With the aperture science logo. I am also a big fan of Portal and Portal 2 :)
Great Space Saver, Looks Great Steve
Ive watch 80% of your video your so awesome thank you for your videos
Thank you soooooo much for this!!!
I asked a few weeks ago if it was possible for u to make one of these...
I really appreciate it!!!
Great video Steve! Always tune in every Friday. Adam (Portsmouth UK)
I didn't know you could make your own murphy bed. Looks great!
Great build. Awesome family teamwork. I was gonna like anyway, the PRINCESS MEOW-MEOW put me over the top. Excellent work, sir.
Excellent video, short and to the point. This project would be perfect for my guest room. Princess Meow-Meow is very cute. Thank you for posting, I'm a fan of your work!!
What freaked me out was that fan... Looking like it was gonna take your head off!
Great build! I need one now....
how neat...I love the colors..thanks for sharing.
That was awesome! The project, the ad, the editing, the princess meow meow and of course, my favorite bed color: PINK :)
Keep up the awesome videos!
Take care,
Andrea A.
Steve, great video. I've been thinking about do this in our house and the video is encouraging, thanks.
BTW...you can get threaded pipe connectors any place you buy pipe, makes using the clamp easier.
Keep up the good work.
Love your videos, thanks Steve
Great Video Steve really like the Murphy Bed. Great Portal Jacket that your son had on.
Thanks Steve. Your videos are always fun to watch.
Great video and superb project thanks
Like always excellent Job Steve!. Great idea for small rooms though.
Great video. I can make one for my granddaughter than maybe we can find it. as always you have done a great job Steve
Nice Aperture jumper!
cool project, i like the color
Bravo. Thanks for sharing. Well done.
VERY lucky lady that wife of yours :-).. Very nice bed! Job well Done! i wish my hubby was handy lol....
I've always loved the idea of a Murphy bed, and I've been thinking about getting a new mattress with my tax return. It's a double win for me today!
I really like your work and your design
Awesome idea Steve!!!
Murphy Bed's are great. Another excellent video...!
I have no use for a murphy bed but this video makes me want to find a use for one!
I'm currently designing one with a desk. Using stuff for the lift mechanism from a hardware store.I hope to post it soon on your website. Unfortunately i'm using Inventor so no Sketch-up model.
You can buy those "special" screws separately, I know Hettich makes them, probably some other manufacturers do too. They come with dedicated two-diameter drill bits and are fantastic for connecting boards. They make for a very strong and rigid connection. Particularly good for anything where you cannot use glue.
It's kind of funny that my father in law was just asking me about potentially building a murphy bed for their guest room. Great video and colour choice!
Great work! I love Murphy bed. I also love this strong pink colour and lime green walls. Is that my room, huh? ;)
Thank you for sharing. :)
6:10...Sorry good man, but experienced from two friends of mine plus two aunts and one uncle who have tried all sorts of foam based mattresses across the past 22 years all say the same thing" ..they just DON'T last worth a crap. ". The best case scenario was with one of my aunts who weighs less than 125 pounds. Hers lasted maybe 4 years before she could start feeling it's fully sunken in level start becoming even lower, and they DON'T breath worth a crap. She was always sweating until she got rid of her foam based mattress and went back to a solid reasonably firm ( non pillow top) simple well built traditional one.
I still thumbs up'd the video ftr as you're always producing good and educational content. Thank Steve
Muy bonito excelente . Genial eres muy bueno para trabajar la madera bien hecho saludos desde México
I love the fact you use Torx head screws!
This is brilliant!
They're actually just building a relaxation vault for that lad in the aperture laboratories jacket.
You can use a drill block that will keep your drill straight in a 360 ° plain. Place the finish sides both up and let it rip!
oh man, i want a murphy bed for my little bed room, it would save me alot of space. love how u integrate ur sponsor Steve. ur logo is cool too! it's just like mine i made 15 years ago for my MindWave Studios video production company, W on top, M on the bottom, so it looks like an ex, i had it tattooed on my shoulder, but i ended up getting my logo changed to MW next to each other, like sinusoidal waves, my buddy Real redesigned it for me.
Nice work Steve! It looks good
Steve, thanks for inspiring me to get into wood working. I will be starting my first project soon.
***** Will do sir.
keep the ideas and vids coming, a cabin bed would be nice
