- Police audit on quad bike, they said the rear light wasn’t working and that was the reason for a stop then next they said the bikes not insured to carry passengers just 1 bad police officer with free time on his hands harassing the public 😂

Have you ever been hit by a scrote in an uninsured car? Plod can stop folks as much as they want if it gets the uninsured dole scum off the streets.
The reason is to check you can legally operate the vehicle you are using
The wording in legislation is "for any reason" but the police think this means for no reason
I liked the way you guys stayed calm and polite through out and were confident. Stood your ground and instructed them of your rights...how they were wasting your time and looking for a reason to validate them stopping you. The police are in the media spotlight at the moment across the country. Its time they were vette for abusing power and corrupt behaviour

That's it then, the cop just prevented any successful prosecution of driving without insurance by stating on audio and video recording that 'he knew' he was insured.

So to clarify the officer can't clarify what he is saying is true. So what we just ignore ethe dacr he xant prove his word is true ans craxk on..then if he gets hit and the insurance dont pay out because he may have a discrepancy amd asks why the police disnt do anything about it.....its oricks like me tnat get hit ans it turns out to be a uninsured driver and I've then gotta claim on my insurance! The best advice anyone can give you when you talk to the Police is, DON'T TALK. All talking does is give them a way in, to get you to self incriminate. Let them do their legal checks, ask for their collars and warrant cards, and repeat the phrases.....I don't answer questions, am I being detained, am I free to go. And if possible, always record any interaction. Policing is based on consent, not compliance.
here in the uk you cant exactly say that as it will get you arrested on suspicion of a crime which is valid, you tell them the absolute minimum, give them your license and if you have it on you ... your insurance documents and if your really prepped .. your MOT certificate, then they cant do shit to you

He showed the officer something on his phone, may be insurance. If he knows he is legal and nothing is coming up on the police system that is not his fault.

There's not just a seat on the back to carry passengers, they're is also handle bars/grips on BOTH SIDES FOR A PASSENGER.

I rode a quad bike for years, I got stopped every other day, and yes, they always blame a light and tell lies. Just don’t speak to them ever and record their scam on your phone
Here in Canada factory built two seaters are legal for two but add on seats are not legal for two. Here it is illegal to drive on public roads without a helmet much like a motorcycle.
Quad laws in the u.k are a bit vague but same goes if it’s factory fitted it’s legal the same as a motorbike. For some stupid reason helmets are not mandatory on quads or trikes. I’ve never been pulled over but i’m rural and usually wearing a chainsaw helmet with the dog sitting on the back so not much chance it’s a stolen machine. These lads looked liked drug dealers driving round a shit hole council estate on a £15k+ bike . I’d of pulled them over 🤷🏻♂️

Section 163 Road Traffic Act makes this stop perfectly legal. Don't be mad at the police, they didn't make the law, parliament did. Why not campaign to have it changed? I have been stopped before for no reason. I let them check my driving licence and my insurance and went on my way. I don't see the issue here ?

you can request a copy of the in car camera footage , if the brake lights are shown to working then they lied under Oath , cannot see if their body cams were on, if so request copies also as there will be audible recordings of the lie

Shouldn't have pulled into the bus stop. Technically against the law, so the cops were breaking the law too, especially as they pulled you over at a moment expecting you to pull into the bus stop.
If I was able to think quickly enough, I would have pulled up in the lane just past the bus stop and just before the traffic island in the middle of the road, just enough for traffic to get by. Also stopping any bus from leaving the bus stop.
This is how the conversation would go:
Cops: "You can't stop here"
Me: "Why did you stop me here then?"
Cops: "You should have pulled into that lay-by"
Me: "That's not a lay-by, that's a bus stop"
Cops: "Whatever. You should have pulled in there"
Me: "So you're saying I should have illegally used a bus stop because of your ignorance of the law?"
...and so on. Would probably never have got to why they stopped me as the traffic now backing up would put too much pressure on their tiny little brains.
OR they wouldn't have asked and carried on with the check, because they may be apprehending a potential law breaker.

My point exactly. It's a minor inconvenience at most. Happened to me before for absolutely no reason. I handed over my driving license and insurance documents and went on my way after 5 minutes.

Because quads are fun as fuck and turn heads and make lots of noise. Quads are work and fun vehicles, they can go more places than any bike can, plus they can tow trailers and be used for work. You don’t see a bike towing a trailer do you lol. If a quad is road legal, there’s nothing they can do about it.

I used to ride a 125 on a cbt and I wasn't allowed a passenger. But if I rode a 50cc moped I could take a passenger. I always thought this was stupid as a 50cc hasn't got the power to cope with being 2 up

I got stopped by the local constabulary up here on my Blue Raptor 700, I asked them why I had been stopped. Their response was, they had reports of a black quad driving erratically and doing wheelies in the town centre. I looked at my quad, look back at them. Told them it was blue, jumped back on and drove off. They then had the cheek to follow and pull me over again, to ask why I drove off.....

Do I need to wear a helmet or other protective clothing to ride a quad or ATV? Legally, you don't need to wear a helmet, even on the public highway, although we recommend you do. In terms of protective clothing, as in a car, legally all you need to wear is enough clothing to avoid breaking any public decency laws.

As the BBB says the first thing you should say to the plod when they pull you over is, "is this a section 163 stop", if they reply yes then they will have a job trying to make anything else stick, they can't claim you were speeding or ran a red light or there's a problem with your indicators because they should state that that's the reason for stopping you just a 163.

That's a shocking comment. Stereotype profiling. You should be ashamed. I'm 64 and I was regularly stopped on my moped when I was 16 for riding with no L plates or because I had no L plates and had my girlfriend on the back. I'd passed my test which most 16 year olds didn't and still don't bother with. Then, because I had a full licence they'd give the moped an inspection to see if they could get me on anything else. Not that I harbour a grudge or anything 🤣. You want to support the Police but they're making it more and more difficult for us to do that.
3rd stop lodge harassment charge and it will get flagged not to stop unless breaking definitely breaking the law.

The minute you pulled over they knew you were legal. Looking at that cop car I would say the minute they tapped in you number plate all the info popped up on there screen. Unless you had recently renewed your insurance/mot/ tax.

It’s a factory 2 seater . Same as a motorcycle if it has factory pillion seat it’s a 2 seater. Quad laws and general understanding is a bit hazy in the u.k .

The issue here isn't whether the Quad is insured or not. Whether it got a 2nd seat or handle bars .......it may be the officer has a understanding BY LAW a QUAD bike just like a MOTORBIKE needs additional insurance to carry a PILLION PASSENGER

Had a raptor 700 road registered and I got tortured!! People would phone the police on me all the time thinking I was illegally riding an ATV on the road. One of the reasons I sold it. Also they r super dangerous and dont handle that well on tarmac.
