    The "fender vent" actually isn't a fender vent at all. The vent works in a similar way to how the catfish camaro hood intake works. There are internal ducts built into the hood that will suck hot air out of the engine bay and out the sides if the ducts are swapped for real ones. Not designed as fender vents. All these vents are functional but just not in the way that you'd expect all of them to be.

    Tada San never said taking out the fake vents in the front was easy, not only that he never suggested any vent on the rear could be converted. In the interviews he suggests that it is up to the aftermarket to create something if they wanted it to function. Do you really think you know more then the chief engineer?, The factory car does not require all the vents to function, removing them on a factory car will decrease performance. Those fake vents are clearly there for styling reasons, he just made it possible for consumers to remove them if they wanted and that should be praised. From watching this video there has been no false claims made by Tada San, he made it perfectly clear the car is balanced from factory, it is up to the aftermarket to customize for their preference and hence those vents are fake because the car functions perfectly without it. The only argument here is if it was a good styling decision to put fake vents on a car, but if it is done to help the aftermarket then do we not want that in the car industry?
    You need to watch the interview with Tada San again, its clear from this video that you have no clue what Tada San's goal with the car is.
    The consumer should be happy Tada San thought about the consumer in regards to modifying, he knows it will reduce performance but he did so anyway. E.g the chassis reinforcement he removed in the engine bay that is present on the z4. The car was too stiff hence they were removed but he gave the option to still put them on if the consumer wanted them.

    But then again, it´ll show you how much freedom the designers got when designing the body (for better ot worse). Which is rather nice, when enginners and designers are constantly fighting each other in order to bring ther vision to life. The recent Honda Civic Type R is another good example in that case. Anyway, great video !

      Tater Ater this is false. You need your engine warm. Not the air going in. There’s a reason the factory/stock comes with an airbox. The air going in needs to be as cool as possible for the best power. Idk where you heard you need warm air. But cold air is more denser than warm air so you’ll have more power, when your sucking in hot air your losing power and you may cause knock or pre detonation as the air coming in is already too hot the the pressure from the compression stroke is setting it off like a diesel car.

    Trd made a door fender that doesn't look like a vent and it actually makes the vehicle more stable in higher speeds. It also looks nice and I'd imagine if you ask the right guys you can do the same treatment with the "hood vent" and front bumper "side vents"

    The door vent looks like it has a plastic piece that come off behind it on both the door itself and on the doorjamb, but I get your point about the benefits probably not being worth the effort of creating an optimized duct from scratch. The easiest way I could even think of trying to make a real duct for each vent would be 3d scanning and printing it.

      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety

      TRD makes a cover piece for the fake vent so that’s an option (probably stupid expensive). The one on the hood *shouldnt* create any notable extra drag, but I’m no aerodynamicist. We are planning on replacing the clamshell with something lighter and with built-in, functioning vents

    Those front corner vents could and should be functional to reduce drag around the front wheels. That type of vent is called an "air curtain", and many manufactures have them even on their mainstream models. In fact, take a look at the new electric Porsche Taycan Turbo, it has an identically designed vent, that is actually functional in that manner.

    What about the hot air in the engine bay being pushed through the radiator and the front? Surely it would at least reduce lift adding downforce? But I hear what you’re saying though. You know what might be a lot of fun for your viewers...taking it to a wind tunnel and see if they can see what changes happen? Assuming you’re buying an aftermarket functional hood ready to replace it before testing it. Another CZcamsr did this for “Leroy”. It was pretty fun!

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  Před 4 lety +5

      Look at the side vents. Their placement is actually sealed off from the engine bay, so the hot air can’t get to that vent anyway. The only way to vent hot air from engine is with opening up new vents, which is what we are planning on anyway!

    • @MaxwellReviresco
      @MaxwellReviresco Před 4 lety +1

      Jackie Ding Yeah, I saw the closed vents. I was just thinking as an experiment, it would be fun to actually try what your fans were saying, and see the aero computers report on what changes happens, or lack of. Again, this would only make sense if you were to buy an after market hood and use that as a throw away or back up. It would be a cool diff video your views may like...plus It would shut them up (lol) Just thinking out-loud through the keyboard 🤓😆

    Fake Vents are tacky af. That's a reason! Real talk, I understand what you're saying and agree that there is no functional purpose for it. My almost unconditional rule (with automobiles; not always with fashion but that's a different thing) is function over form; however, I want my cars to look amazing. This means that they should perform even better than their appearances might suggest. I personally would remove it and leave the indent. I feel like that is better than fake vents. I believe that integrity is very important in motorsport, where a fraction of a second decides who wins and who doesn't. This includes image. Generally, it's not as easy to appeciate an ugly racecar as much as an aestheticly-pleasing racecar (the EB110 doesn't count because it's an artistic statement). Imma stop writing an essay here and go back to my actual essay for school but I hope you see what I mean.
    Anyway, cool channel! I just subbed.
