- After a day at the track, we brought the Supra to Neo Motorsports and gave it a basic track prep and service, as well as poking around areas of the car so we can learn about it more. One thing we learned for sure, the bumper on this is really, REALLY strong.

That flat bottom might explain your exceptional gas mileage as well.
Absolutely. Massive reduction of drag = higher gas mileage, but also higher top speed without the need of crazy power!

@@matthewyang2792 is specified to be making 31 mpg highway, 24 mpg city. with more power tho will come down a bit, but still pretty damn good mpg.

If you don't mind me asking, i have a few quick questions.
Which suspension are you going with? KW seems to have the V3 out already, or are you going to help develop a kit with another company?
Regarding Liqui Moly, keep an eye on your oil-temperatures if you can, on track. I know it's more apples to oranges comparing the B58 to the S54, but my oil-temps were about 10 degrees (Fahrenheit) higher with LM than with Castrol or Redline. Curious to see if it's similar in the B58.

Now I'm kind of curious whether a bmw dealership would service it, and if so, would the price for the same job be the same as a toyota dealership.
@@SuperBobKing they would service it and it would be the same price . I'm sure if you go to a Toyota dealer then you would pay premium due to BMW parts. Not cheap. Great warranty tho.

that is very good oil its been tested and its the best oil for the money behind redline and motul 300v, I run that same weight (leitchlauf) in my track car

I’m curious about the duct that blows cool air onto the front brakes...it seems like the dust shield behind the brake rotor keeps the cool air from hitting the rotor itself. I wonder if there’s some way to modify that dust shield to allow the ducted air to hit the rotor?
Potentially, it’s something we will look into!
Fun fact: Mini Countryman is pretty much a BMW vehicles aswell.... not so?

I’m curious if Monroe Intelligent Suspension/Toyota Active Suspension/BMW M Active Suspesion can be tuned with simple $200 software like previous models. Would be fun to roll up with factory stock shocks and lay down a great lap time. Maybe paint aftermarket lowering springs black & tune factory shocks to match. Paint the brake pad backing plate black. Flash the stock ecu with 400hp tune or upgraded turbine wheels inside stock housing for 500hp. Looks completely stock but runs 1 min 17sec at your local track. Haha
For what it's worth, Eibach is developing adjustable perches and springs for the stock shocks I think.

Wonder if standard size race springs (60mm or 2.5” ID front & something larger in rear) would fit with light modification to perch or delrin adapter

build quality on the bumper is amazing. the 86 bumper sags when a fly touches it.
We can’t really disclose much more since it relates to something we’re doing, but it’s a seriously reinforced bumper

Usually I'm not a fan of flat bottoms...
But do the rules allow for a different panel say thicket plastic/aluminum instead of those plastics?
For the coolant also it runs 2 water pumps. One electric and one standard. A lot of the 340i/240i guys run Evan's waterless coolant with success on track at lowering temps.
The sway bar end links will probably need upgrading as well as the bars. For the suspension the techs say the rear is similar to the 240i but that's only what they say. One big thing for this engine is oil changes. 7k miles on the street and you should change it. I have seen some quick connect style drain valves that work great.

No. You are literally not allowed to modified the floor from front axle to rear axle at all, or you’re going straight to Unlimited class.

Supra was a 4 seater coupe sports car. The new 2020 supra is rebadged z4 roadster.. This is more closer to a mr2 rebirth. Wish toyota really did spend time to make a proper successor.
How much weight do you think you can shed by tearing out unnecessary bits and pieces? Seeing as how you have a tow vehicle, will this be full race or will you still be keeping some creature comforts?
Truly I want to rip everything out, but this thing is both soooo nice and I’m a little worried about the wiring issues that might cause. Also TA requires full interior from A pillar to behind the driver seat. I think we can get our 300 lbs. let’s wait and see!

Definitely no to RPF1, lol. TE’s are nice but it’s kinda overplayed and thick spokes doesn’t really fit this curvy car I feel

Do the rotors need to be switched as well when you do brakes ? I thought bmw rotors had to be switched every time brakes were done .
The rotors are in good shape, the residual material got cleaned up very easily

Hey Jackie, are you going to apen all the "vents" on your supra ?
This is interesting, so the vents they say can be opened up involves cutting your actual front clamshell, and even then the opening would be tiny and I’m not sure how effective it’ll be. The front vents, I’ll leave as is, because opening those up actually increases drag. Rest assured, we have a major aero package coming for this car and it’ll be epic when all’s said and done

That was pr fluff. Hks built a race supra and confirmed the fake vents are useless and removing them would not help.

Take off the fake vents please and see if they are actually functional for air flow or if Toyota is bsing and there isn’t actually a channel behind them. It’s my most curious question about the car.
We already examined, taking fake vents out won’t make a difference as you still need to cut the front hood and fender liners, and even then it’s not large enough to make a substantial difference. We will make some proper fender vents soon

I’m really liking your vids. You’ve shown me more about the new Supra than any other channel. It seems like Toyota put a lot of effort into designing this car with tuners & enthusiasts in mind. I don’t know of anyone else putting that kind of effort into designing their cars. Kudos to the Supra design team.
Unfortunately, I’m struggling to like the styling cues that Toyota used. The shape of the car is pretty sexy, but the nose is ugly, and the fake vents on the hood, doors, and rear fascia ruin the looks of the car (for me). Some guy said he works for Magna Steyr, and Toyota is already working on some changes to the body, so I guess I’m going to wait a while and see if that guy was speaking the truth.
The face ruins the car, I have seen some renders with new front end and it looks 10x better.

Give Toyota a break, we wouldnt have a new Supra if they didnt collaborate with someone. Hell even the mk4 supra wasnt all toyota. Yamaha helped devolope the motor, the glorious 2jz. At least Toyota wanted to make a new one instead of making another SUV like other brands.

The GR Supra is a different car than the C8 Vette, and each one will be great in their own right. It’ll just come down to which car better meets your needs, and looks better to you.
I think the Supra has a more sexy shape than the C8, but Toyota ruined that sexy shape with the ugly nose and all the fake vents. For that reason alone, I’ll probably end up going with the C8, even though I’ve been waiting for a long time to buy a new Supra.

BF109G nobody has gotten to see what the C8 will do yet. I’m sure it’ll be great. But for now, we have another great car in the Supra. The guy on this channel tracks his, and it does pretty well right out of the box. I’ll probably go with a C8 over the Supra myself. But this guy bought his Supra, tracks it, and he loves it, so why come to his channel and shit on it?
