  • Two complete solutions on how to fix the “Internal Error”/ or “Error 4000” and “No Model” Info error messages on various Yamaha Receivers. This works with at least the following Yamaha home theatre receiver models:
    RX-V673
    RX-A773
    RX-A720
    RX-A820
    HTR-6065
    HTR-7065 (probably)
    HTR-6067
    Always work with power DISCONNECTED. Do this accepting the risk and understanding you will certainly void your warranty - but the assumption is that your model is well past warranty anyway, so what have you got to lose? Life without risk is dull and pointless. My HTR-6065 is from 2012, so a decade out of warranty.
    Link to the current Yamaha firmware: au.yamaha.com/en/support/upda...
    Tools needed:
    Empty USB drive - if firmware update method works
    Philips head screw driver
    Magnifying glasses or bloody good eyesight
    Fine-tip soldering iron
    Solder and jumper lead (easier than bridging the pads with solder - which then has to be removed)

    This is the best video. I used it to repair RX-V777 "internal error" easily. There was no reason to solder a jumper, though. I was able to gently scrape away a thin wax-like coating on the jumper solder pads with a tiny screwdriver. Then, just short it out with a small chrome allen wrench. I just held the wrench in place across the two solder pads while I hit "power" and then the few buttons to re-select my model number as you described. For me, I was able to do it on the 2nd try.

      Yes, I thought about a 'touch jump' as you've described, but I wasn't sure about contact duration and whether I could hold the contact whilst switching on as a one-person operation! Cheers.

    Great! Thanks so much for sharing this. Which temperatur do you use when soldering? I am doing this for the first time and have no idea.

      I use a 15 watt iron on these fine jobs with a fine tip. 600°- 650°F (316°- 343°C) is a good place to start for lead-based solder and 650°- 700°F (343°- 371°C) for lead-free solder. I also make sure I have good light and at least a 5 x ocular magnifier loupe (or a magnifying glass). The target tabs are very small. Just take your time and use a very small amount of solder. Also, wet the soldering iron tip and use fresh solder as you are starting out. Always, 'less and slow' is better than 'more and fast'. Overheating components can damage them.

    Hello. I saw that your Yamaha is showing the Cinema logo, but not showing the speakers logo, and it is showing "Decoder Off" : can you peleas tell me, if you get sound on your output?

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před měsícem

      The Cinema logo just tells you that it is decoding in Dolby DSP, and the speakers are shown if they are detected by the system (this is not described in the manual). Yes, the audio worked after I completed the repair (using the wire jump method, the software update did not work).

    I have the same problem out of nowhere it did that yesterday thanks I'll try this, are there other causes for this?

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před rokem +1

      Yes, there are. The DSP chip on the main board is known for a multitude of errors across a range of the Yamaha range. Mine died a slow death last week (surround decoding stopped, then stereo only worked, then nothing). I did multiple resets, as well as the mainboard jumper reset, before I finally gave it away in disgust. I would have been pretty mad if I'd paid full RRP ($1100 AUD). One fix is to heat the DSP chip with a heat gun. Some have had success with this. I'll be posting a video soon on this. Cheers

    I have Yamaha RX V581 and the receiver is not showing speaker symbols. I am only getting sound on direct mode on tuner and aux. Can you please help ?

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před rokem

      Almost certainly means the digital signal processing (DSP) chip is fried. This happened to me as well, then shortly after the entire amp stopped outputting sound at all. All I can suggest is a soft or a hard reset (see my video), and if that fails, accept it has limited functionality and may die soon...

    great video i am looking for jumper on the rx-v385 board, any idea where it is, appreciate it thanks

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před rokem

      No idea for that model. There are typically several jumpers on each main board. Have a look with a magnifying glass. They're tiny!

      we have the same model and problem internal error, but i fixed mine through update and hard reset

    • @martyflickinger
      @martyflickinger Před rokem

      I have the same model. There is no equivalent set of jumpers on the board for this model. I consulted the service manual schematics for both, and the electrically equivalent action on the V385 is to find the factory test connector CB29 (white connector at back of board near HDMI 4). See the description of the pins near that connector. Pin 5 is MODE and Pin 2 is DGRD. Shorting those 2 pins should do the same thing as shorting the pair of pads on other models. Unfortunately, on mine, it doesn't fix it. But maybe for someone reading this it WILL work. I tried a firmware update but after programming and verifying it failed with "unknown error" 😞

      @ryeplayz3352 Před rokem

      if its unknown error, dont remove the usb just let it be there and hold down the straight button and press power button and it will brings you to the reseting procedure

    Do you know which points it is on the RX-V2067 as I cannot find R896 on mine. Tx

      @pescado99  Před 10 měsíci

      I'm really sorry, I'm not familiar with the control board for the V2067. All I can suggest is to look for similar contact pads and jump them using the same technique - they may or may not be the correct pads, but they are all designed to work this way (to be 'jumped' on the boot cycle). Good luck.

    Hello, I have a question. I accidentally poured a bit of water on my Yamaha RX A820. After turning it on, I'm getting this error: INTERNAL ERROR. I tried the USB method, but it didn't work. I'm trying it again now. Do you think I should try it with this bridge? Great video, regards.

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hmm, water is never good. How much? A cup, a few drops? Assume it was clear fresh water, nothing with salts or minerals in it. All is not lost. Shame you powered it up - which may have cooked some chips on the main board if any moisture was still there. I would have said don't power it up yet... disconnect from power, open it up, make sure it is totally dry (hair dryer or preferably sun), look for any signs of corrosion. If you see corrosion, use IPA on toothbrush to 'clean' those parts. Dry it all again - warm sun is best (no hot spots). Forget rice, that is a waste of time (and rice). Best thing is to ensure it is bone dry. Then power back up and try it with the bridge for a hard reset. USB reset is pretty useless. Good luck 🙂

      Hey! Hey! Thanks for the response! I think it was a maximum of 20 ml of water. Unfortunately, the radio was on at that time (it instantly turned off by itself). Most of the water got into top - left area (looking from above). Even if it doesn't work, you've given me hope :D. How are you feeling? Greetings from Berlin!@@pescado99

    This was for the rx1020. It worked for my 720 but the place to put the jumper was in a different location I just look around to find the number on my board and voilla presto problem solved.

      Not on this model. If it's cactus already, you could inspect the motherboard and look for tabs close together and jump them per this video. Most of the MoBo's are similar (ones with HDMI and DSP processing). Good luck

      Not sure, would depend on the chipset. I've only tested it on the 6065.
