    I took a chance on a Yamaha htr-5660 at a yard sale for $10.
I didn't expect it to work and it's got the same exact problem.
Never dreamed I'd find a video of how to fix it.
Thank you so much for posting this.
It's been in my sons closet for several years.
Maybe we can fix it now🙂

Thank you very much!!! There was exactly the same malfunction. I watched your video. Checked in his receiver. The stabilizer + 5V burned out. The output of the IC 304 was 1.2 V. I replaced the IC 304 with a similar one, only with a metal mount. At the output of the IC 304 became 5 V. !!! Between the body and the radiator, the IC 304 installed a thermal pad. Everything works. Thanks again !!!

I was looking for a circuit from this receiver for 2 years))) I tried to repair it before this video, checked the transistors of the amplifiers and at the output, I thought it was faulty, no, everything was ok, I was afraid to remove the metal plate that presses the stabilizers to the radiator. If the plate is not removed, then the terminals of the stabilizers cannot be selected in order to measure the voltages of these stabilizers. I removed the pressure plate. I measured the voltage on the stabilizers. Everything turned out exactly the same as in the author’s video. Changed the stabilizer IC304 and everything is OK !!! I never thought that because of such a simple detail the receiver will not work)))) Now everything is repaired. I enjoy the sound))) +++

I have a Yamaha RX-V861 that has been a workhorse, but after using it regularly for many hours at a time it just developed a fault where it will remain on for some time...from stone cold, up to 30 minutes, and shuts off. After about 10 minutes (cooled down?) it starts again, and then lasts for perhaps 5 minutes before shutting down again. Is there some thermal protection fault in mine do you think? I tried replacing the 473K 400v capacitor in the power board, but it made no difference.

Check for partial short. You need a esr meter to test the capacitors
