Home Improvement, Fresh Prince and Roseanne, although home Improvement has a different name in german. It was called "hör mal wer da hämmert" which means "listened who's hammering"

I couldn't help but laugh when they didn't know Roseanne. On the plus side, they all knew the fresh prince, so that makes up for it. Kind of sad that more of them didn't know home improvement.

MARIOPOWERUP I think I've seen every episode of that more times than any other show on this episode, except for maybe Fresh Prince.
MARIOPOWERUP Step by Step was always an underrated sitcom, it was always shown on a spot furthest from the most popular show at the time so it never got that much recognition. Heck I didn't pay full attention to the show until 2004 when reruns were being shown on ABC family.

80's sitcoms next, please! Or maybe you could compare 80's TV shows to 90's TV shows or movies from the 80's to their current remakes. Compare the movie trailer from Adventures in Babysitting to the movie trailer from The Sitter or Fame 1980 vs Fame 2009 or The Karate Kid 1984 vs The Karate Kid 2010. You see where I'm going with this? Compare as many alike trailers as possible to their earlier counterparts. First, get the teens reactions then the reactions of their 30 or 40 something counterparts.

I noticed that if the sitcom did not appear on ABC, the teens generally didn't know about it, except for The Fresh Prince of Belair. I can't blame them for getting the theme songs confused since they do all sound similar, from music to lyrics. They could have played the theme from Perfect Strangers and a few of them probably would have guessed Full House for that too.
I knew all of the 90's sitcoms. I almost didn't get Rosanne but the laugh at the end gave it away.
So much nostalgia. I still recognized every song even though I was watching them at 3 years old.

I just time traveled to my childhood with that Full House opening song! The last time I heard must be some 10 years ago! I actually watched and rematched a lot of Fresh Prince with reruns and Netflix but Full House I never actually revisited in all of these years!

I've heard of Fresh Prince and Full House but I haven't seen a single episode of any of these 7 shows. I was born early 90s so I guess most of these were US exclusives?

SandCube yea they were all U.S. shows to begin with. Not many went out of the U.S. I was born mid-90's and seen all but 3 of them.
Fresh prince wasn't neither was home improvement, but those were the only shows I've seen from that line up.

SandCube I was born in '85 and lived in the UK all my life. Home Improvement, Fresh Prince and Roseanne are the only tunes on the list I recognised. I've heard of Full House, never saw it on UK TV though. I recognise Urkel but only from references made on other shows. I immediately thought of Martin Lawrence when they said the name of the show, purely down to the fact I remember him being a bigger star than Will Smith at the time of the first Bad Boys movie. And I've never heard of Step by Step.

***** It was still popular. Almost everyone in my Girl Scout troop was fans of Sailor Moon, a lot of kids at my school knew it as well as Pokemon then DBZ. Hell I even found kids at the Boys & Girls Club that knew of Digimon and Monster Rancher. I can go on for days on this.
