Shredding can be cool sometimes. Playing a bunch of notes really fast? It is not very nice to listen to. Too bad. The rest of the performance is pretty fun.
I guess it is not just a bunch of notes. Probably pentatonic in what ever key they working in. Maybe a flat V here and there.

Anton Fig. Studio and road musician extraordinaire. Read the back of any album from the late 70s to the 90s. Good chance Fig was the drummer.
Anton Fig: Played on loads of great stuff. Presently plays a lot with Bonamassa.

Zakk Wylde is never mentioned in the greatest guitarist discussions but for my money he is the GOAT. He can play EVERYTHING. I could listen to this man play a tune and sing the GD phonebook and love it. Underrated doesn't even begin to describe it
The man just played FLOODS live with Pantera for their first time since 2001, and his solo made Phil smile. That’s a GOAT, for sure.
This whole band was so in tune with each other for this performance. What freakin' professionals. Of course Zakk slaughtered the guitar, but that bass player, the drummer, and the pianist were laying it down for him. The stuff they were adding made the solo that much more dynamic. Hats off to the whole band!
That cat with the 70’s preacher look in the back playing rhythm… that dude is a boss! The girl on bass loves what she does too. They all killed it.
That’s Les Paul! One of the greatest pioneers in music history. A wicked fast player too if you look him up.

For my ears the piano played its own solo and was dysonant (is that even a word in English) , I mean not in tune, with the guitar. The piano was too much, two solos, but only Zacks solo was stunning and should be heard , not disturbed by some wrong piano tunes.

The bass player and drummer really make this performance pop. Jazz players are really focused when they perform a piece of music.
Zakk was what got me into heavy guitar with No More Tears. That opened the door for me. I have seen him live twice. Super shredder

Amazing version of Hendrix's classic and ain't never seen anyone shred f@#k out of acoustic before but wouldn't say he's the Hendrix of our generation, he's a great guitarist and I've been a fan for around 30 years but he's more Metal than the Bluesy style of Hendrix. There's someone I think is the Hendrix of our generation, a young guy by the name of Christone Kingfish Ingram with an old Blues Soul, don't know if you like that type of music but should check him out if you like your guitar music, I think he's real good, I like most styles, mainly Rock but love a bit of Blues also, see what you think 👍

I would love to hear his interpretation of All Along the Watchtower, the Jimi Hendrix version. That is other-worldly style guitar work. Zakk has those type of chops. I'm 65 and still hypnotized by Zakk Wylde when he get's down to work.

Just for the sheer sake of mentioning, Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is the last song on Electric Ladyland and it's a call back to the 15 minute slow blues version of the song called Voodoo Chile that's the last song on the A-side of the album. Maybe you already knew that, but maybe other people will be like whoa cool haha.

Stevie often went for 15 minute solos on voodoo child (slight return) and in his worst state in 1986 often upwards of 20 minutes.

I've seen Zakk five times & have been a huge fan since the 80s. My mind in BLOWN every time I see him. This performance was SURREAL! DAMN!!
Damn.. I knew Wylde was a very good guitarist but after seeing this performance I realize he's one of "The Great" rock guitarists of our times
I just wish Zakk would expend past the same pentatonic licks he does over and over and over and over. I mean don't get me wrong, he's EASILY the fastest pentatonic player in the world, but man he could be so much more. He'd probably be like Shawn Lane or Rusty Cooley or some of those ultra guitar freaks

+Jorge Papp Honestly, I've played electric guitar for awhile now, longer then I've played acoustic. Acoustic is so much easier for me. The only thing that's hard for me is the picking, and that was only because I was using thin as fuck picks. Picked up some dunlop tortex 1.14 and picking is a lot easier.

I saw Zach a few years ago with the Hendrix tribute and was forever changed. My respect for him will never diminish and he continues to blow my mind. Speed, precision, soul, growl, showmanship, and stamina beyond beyond.

Zakk Wylde is one of the most underrated guitarists ever to play! He is unbelievable......he has a sound like no other.....his playing is so clean. His fame hasn't gone to his head either. He has remained a very nice person too.

Love the song, wish Zak had never recorded it. That song is cursed! My respect for Zak run's very deep. So deep that I named my only son after him. My son worked all summer to buy his first Gibson 225 and Marshall DSL 100 with a B cabinet! He's 13! Paid for it himself because that is what he wanted. He loves Jazz the most!

@@cliveseer5163 its just effects he is using. Any guitar (electric or acoustic) have a "clean" tone whit out any guitar effects(pedals). He is probable using distortion + some other to get that sound.

l, personally, who have been playing guitar professionally for 42 years and since age 5 have seen scads of awesome players with my rock singer /bandleader father have NEVER ,EVER seen anyone shred an acoustic like that in my life.... that was truly herculean.....'nuff said.....

In my Taylor catalog a decade ago,I now recall acoustic they made that was more than a mere Electric Acoustic...That must be what that is..But Epiphone...Is it the pick ups and strings?That is no standard Acoustic.lol..

@@aldenunion Zakk has his own line of guitars. They're made in the same Korean factory as certain Prs models and Schecter. I'm sure that acoustic has a professional setup. Super low action, frets dressed the works. I'd love to play one off the shelf to see if it sounds even close to the acustaxe he wields.
@@suthernkumfurt8515 Yes I just went and seen him playing way back with Slash and he had that same typed signature guitar only was black and White....I forget the name model that Taylor released a decade ago,but I played one in shop considering and it did not sound like Zakk's.lol...He and Slash played "Voodoo Child" as well,..I prefer not hearing sweep picking so enjoyed immensely...That Epiphone has a wide Rosewood neck like a acoustic,must be what he grew up on..lol...Neat!!
