Everyone saying he was better back then...who wasn't better when they young...drunk and stoned, doing what he does best....take for it is, a glorious piece of history. What a legend.
80and90atLIMIT
Well the man is in his 50's and nobody can touch Zakk's talent and body of work.
Fucking annoying when people live in the past, can't just let it be and appreciate.
Zakk is an absolute legend and personally I love ALL of his stuff.
And yes, this vid is most definitely a glorious piece of history!
Zakk is a beast no matter what time period you enjoy him from! Now, then or otherwise. Long live Zakk Wylde!
For all the young guitarists out there pay attention to how he grips the guitar! Every note is strong and his timing is awesome!
bluesy grip for power, neoclassical grip for speed
Have never really 'gotten into' Wylde - not saying he cannot play because obviously 'he can' - I just personally never followed him. One thing that has been consistent with respect to his 'playing style' - and the really 'good' guitarists have their 'own' sound, you know who it is the moment you hear a riff/note. The 'thing' I reckon has been consistent with Wylde is his excellent use of pinch harmonics.
The great Vivian Campbell of DIO/Whitesnake + Leppard [where he is way under utilised] also has an awesome pinch harmonic ability.
Every solo Wylde plays has pinch harmonics laid down - well that's my opinion anyway.
No
Zakk is the shit. I always find it impressive how these blues based players get so much music out of the same five notes.
As opposed to 8? Lol.
I like this zakk more...... I like his style and feel with the guitar and I like his voice here more
So true! He's still great but I enjoyed the music he made in his past more plus i think he definately sang better back then
Andrew Ehalt Me and you (from 3 years ago) agree on this
Andrew Ehalt
Rouwiinator
..... Eddie not the cruisers
90's Zakk is the best Zakk imo. Love all of his stuff but man.. the 90's were special!

DIME FOREVER
I was at this "show" over 20 years ago, I can't believe its on CZcams!!!! As to the rhythm section, I believe they are local musicians from here in Rochester, NY. If I remember correctly, they also played with Gilbey Clarke in this same time period. I still can't believe someone uploaded this, thanks.
James also rocked in Slash's Snakepit for a bit, Brian Tichy was on drums, same rhythm section from Zakk's Pride & Glory days at one point
Here's another video of Zakk from around the same time. czcams.com/video/PPTIOXWklK8/video.html
Is this before Ozzy ??
Bob Meager lucky guy you that’s awesome !!!!
@@airikwilliams6720 NO
Amazing, amazing performance. We were totally blown away as we thought we were only going to see a lower key "guitar clinic" that day. I remember it was $10 and they gave us each a free set of guitar strings on the way out. Zakk showed up late with a 12-pack and said something like "You don't want to see me just play scales, right?". I'm pretty certain this was Saturday, 05/01/1993 (not 01/05). Not thinking that was Lomenzo or DeAngelo either. Best last minute Saturday afternoon decision ever!
You're so lucky, dude
What a rare treat to see Zakk and crew that close! What a memory. Awesome!
Where was this show?
@@jaseshade6512 Rochester, New York
Same date actually - the poster is Portuguese; and in Europe dates are written DD/MM while in USA, they’re MM/DD.
(idk why. Always struck me as an insane difference. Surely international corporations and organizations must run into terrible misunderstandings!)
Holy! I can barely fathom such talent. My mind can't comprehend such guitar mastery. This soars way beyond Gary Moore and Jimmy Page.
This is truly a spiritual gift before our eyes.
There's nothing more to say here but
Damn! Zakk had reached the summit before anyone even realized.
No wonder Sharon caught sight of him to replace Jake.
It was meant to be.
Agreed 👍👍👍
Take it easy 😂
dont see anything wrong wit what was said bro you take it easy. jimmy page was the OG riff stealer 😂
I remember seeing Zakk for the first time in Ozzy's "No More Tears" video and thinking holy shit! This guy's a goddamned Avenger with a Les Paul! I went out and got Pride and Glory and drove my girlfriend batshit playing "Losing Your Mind" shit-faced in her jeep over and over as loud as it would go everywhere we went with the top down yelling my head off...
Class-I bloody love that album-saw them in 94 too
@Dave Smith Yeah, I'll blow him after I plow your little hiney like a Nebrasksa cornfield you bad boy...
Those were great times weren’t they.
21 years ago..i was there a young man full of awe and wonder...
Reality-Eaters I think I saw you in that one shot of the crowd.
yeah when zakk leans over the crowd on the well our right im in there, in awe..
Reality-Eaters
Ah, hell... I was kidding (obviously, since I don't know ya), but that's cool... wish I could've seen that close-up-and-personal show.
quazzie1 thats too funny!!! me and my guitar player of my old band are in this video for a second...it changed our lives for ever..
Reality-Eaters
I bet it did. I've seen Zakk only once, when he was with Ozzy, and I was so far back from the stage that I couldn't make out any features except his hair. If the band had all been dressed the same, I wouldn't have been able to tell them apart. But it sounded freakin' awesome.
Hopefully, I'll be able to see BLS one day!
Zakk might not be the most technical player, but his playing has personality, style, and fuckin' rocks! You can tell it's Zakk's guitar in any song just by the sound, and then the pinch harmonics, and then the hammer-on pick scrapes. Makes all those speed metal drones sound like soulless computerized zombies. And that rebel flag Les Paul is the most awesome guitar EVER! Black Label forever!
rsdeepsea Id personally rather have personality than technical skill because skill can be had by many guitarist but YOUR personality is all your own assuming you can showcase it
One thing I know for sure. If a guitarist catch your mind and soul is all that matters. If it comes along with high levels of tecnique that's fine .If it is not thats 'fine too.Zakk is one of those for me. Muddy, SRV, EVH, Jimi Hendrix and so forth. ..Damn it!!!!!
its the Overuse of the Pitch Harmonics that I can tell when its Zakk lol
He just impregnated the first 3 rows of women with that opening shred!
@@6nosis 😜😂😂😂😂
He was great in the old days, this is a brilliant display of axe power
Yep...the younger Zakk was a much better guitarplayer than this bearded trainwreck today.
This guy was so advanced at a young age with his style, ability, soul, voice and everything else. What a great talent he is. Ozzy picked the right guy with him and put out his best album ever with No More Tears.
No rest for the wicked 😎
I'm going to throw in as the unifier. NO REST and NO MORE TEARS were bookend, or a set, in a strange way. Both brilliant with a little more development on the second. Similar to the Rhoads offerings, BLIZZARD and DIARY. The two albums exist well together to form one piece of art from a time of inspiration.
Zakk Wylde is a guitar hero with the unique sound and style! It is even more awesome that he can perform at any venue, and turn it into guitar heaven. Love and respects - from a fan who used to copy 'Crazy Babies' upon release in 1989(?), Kim Se-Hwang. ♥️
...You're right...1000/1000...
I miss this Zakk!
house of guitars? should be house of amps.
Hahahaha
+marcus tait Oh yeah. I bet that was an awesome sound.

ZAKK IN HIS PRIME! THE GOOD OL' DAYS DUDE...LONG LIVE THE M-E-T-A-L! \m/
Seriously,he should stop acting like a twat lol he's a sweet guy i think, doesn't suits him at all...
Axe Shredder I believe the same thing here is the best playing I’ve ever heard off .... beyond human , I told my childhood bro Zakky here is Slash with Turbo and intercooler
vanhalenfan gee I believe the same thing he’s the most beautiful guy ever sweet and always trying to be an arse hole I keep telling my friend why does he do that to himself, best looking best style best guitarist ever if he just back off and be himself, the guy is gifted beyond humanity, I saw him alive playing piano and singing those most beautiful country classic ballads I had goosebumps in my soul, he’s amazing southern culture music lover
Paul Stanley killing it on the low end!
WOW I forgot how fucking awesome Zakk used to be!!!
He still is. But, more relaxed. He's got nothing to prove now. He's made his money for sure. Today, it's called easy Street.
I'm proud I got to spend my childhood in house of guitars in irondaquit NY.
Me too!! good ol titus ave
@@superriley777 Haven't been there since 1980!
@@superriley777 I lived in Rochester for 30 years and been to the House of Guitars many times. Ah the good old days. I met the Ramones there, Charlie Daniels and others. Awesome times growing up
@@EddyMetal60 HOG is a Rochester Icon.... I brought my sons there back in the early 2000s cause i wanted them to see some Rochester history...All the cool bands would stop by there!! Great times!!!
At 12 years old I rode my bicycle from wheatland to the Hog. It was my first time there, it was so worth it
ZAkk is my favorite guitar player
My too :D
all right
Randy indeed is great but my personal fave is Eddie Van Halen.
Buck Wing Eddie is ok but randy was greater.......im kiddin . Both are great for and deciding between the two is a preference thing
Hahahahahhahahahuaa
I saw him do this Guitar Clinic in Boston 93. I recorded it too but the 6'4 bouncers caught me and took the tape. One of the best guitar shows I've ever seen.
That’s my forever favourite Zakk Axe.
🎸🏅
Pure passion overload with Zakk. He absolutely LOVES playing his guitar and he inspires me tremendously.. brilliant man
You may not be ready for that....but your kids are gonna love it.
Love Zakk but this was when I first starting listening to him and in my humle opinion he was at his best. I love all the Pride & Glory stuff. I love BLS, but dis his best shit...
Layne Franklin his best shit was plying classic rock covers at guitar center?
@@darkstar4494 (h.o.g.) house of guitars...get back on your game.'. . .
That guitar playing is almost unreal. Hot damn.
...ya gotta admire that dude totally handles vocs and guitar so well...absolute true talent !!!...f'n right!!!
i still remember leaning on the front of the stage for this jam in 93 at the HOG. my dad took me as I was probably in 8th grade. you can imagine what an impact it had on me as a young player. the HOG was jam packed with gear back then and generally in disarray and I remember zakk coming from the hallway, turning the corner and almost running into me among the sea of guitars totally unexpectedly. cool times back then.
Did you talk to him? Shake his hand?
Where was this House of guitars?
Darth Green I did meet him. Cool guy.
Gabriel F Rochester N.Y. on Titus ave. still there I think.
This was where I got my first guitar around 1991. At that time the place was managed by guys from Chesterfield Kings. It was an experience going there as a child
Nobody in the world is going to play like this except for zakk. Very cool style and he shreds it 👍. One of my favorites
Frank Marino comes to mind
Lol come on,stop. There are many guitarist that can play exactly like that.
this is zakk at his best. before he just shredded over every measure
This is so cool, really grateful someone recorded this. Zakk was still so young yet was already a seasoned veteran. He's probably just doing this gig for fun.
Everyone always puts down his playing for all his pincharmonics, gimme a break zakk has always been amazing since his ozzy days...wish he would put pride n glory back together after the Pantera shows....nobody better to play dimes riffs and solos than Zakk, plus he has an awesome voice!!
Most kick ass thing I heard since Double live Gonzo!!
This is how I'll always remember Zakk. Now....
Zakk had like perfect body physiognomy ever..Thats how a man should look like in 25.
Gay lord
@@oldgit4260 oh look, a homophobe.
Love his playing zakk is a badass.
Gotta love some ZZ played by zakk wylde!
The best I’ve ever heard of Zakky and anyone ever in my life 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Zakky is on Fire 🔥 here
100% total badass. Gad we've had him and ozzy so long during my time.
The one and only. Some amazing shred and his vocals were great too.
Marty Friedman on Bass
Kkkk Michael Inez!!!!!
Paul Stanley????
Lucas Souza he’s solid though. zak is the show.
Marty and Zakk are my favorite guitar players. If you only knew my story.
@@zleandrozable , where does Paul Stanley fit in, anywhere in any of this ? Just curious.
Those two music store dudes played the gig of their lifetimes. hahaha
Can hear the Frank Marino influence quite well! 144 bars of awesome soloing!
Oh, so that's where Zakk picked up the annoying & overplayed pinch harmonics???!!
Im just entertained by Zakk Wylde's guitar playing
I wish he still played clean like this... I saw this music store run back then and it was great..
Love that hat Zakk. Looks like a custom Hi-Roller. True Southern rocker.
Also know as 1 hour of shredding the e minor pentatonic 😂 there is just something so magic about it tho. Zakk Really has his own style as simple as it may be. Great upload
I’ve modeled my playing to resemble the Wylde Man licks… dude is one of the sickest guitarist on the planet!
But we live on a level plane.😂
Sooooo instead of developing your own style and trying to be original you’ve copied someone else….smh pathetic.
1993👍👍 great times for sure. Love seeing those VTM120's in the background 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
I saw him do a this "show" in State College at George's House of Music. Not only did he shred like a beast he was cool as hell and hung out with everyone the rest of the afternoon. Still one of my best memories.
i literally thought the first guitar solo would never end haha
I really like how he did cheap sunglasses!
Dude I love that he plays tush a lot back then. One of the best ZZ Top songs of all time
I love all the amps in the background wish I had them all!!!!
Dan Benkert Buy a kemper
wow old stuff...long time ago....love it
i haven't been this entertained in a long time, and i mean that in a good way
It’s amazing to see Zakk jamin’ with two FUTURE members of what would become the rhythm section for White Lion!
Face officially melted. What a great guitar tone. 👍💪🤘
this is a great performance cheap sunglasses is amazing especially when Zakk Wylde does it. I wish he'd come back to the House of Guitars and play in Rochester soon
marty friedman playing bass - awesome =)
I've heard stories that when Zakk was a child he would often play guitar for 12 hours straight and sleep through school the following day. One thing we can all agree on, the brother shreds and his skill is to be respected. Love his tone in this video. Thanks for the upload, for real!
I wish I had seen that show. His voice is off the wall wtf I'd pay to see him then his guitar playing blows me away here I seen his other you tube event in 91 in MI amazing amazing Amazing 👏 😉 😍
Zakk Wylde 🤘💕😀 THE best!!!
I would love to see zakk wylde do a Pride and Glory show now
I always loved his tone. And the beer caps nailed into his les paul..
Zakk was on another level during his Ozzy years, he perfectly covers all of these songs but his version of I don't know blew me away, Guitar God.
That's the Zakk Wylde that influenced me when I was younger..it's sad to see what he has become today.
Really?
Before the right hand of doom became the elbow of mud.
love zakk wylde love Ozzy Osbourne
I was at this “show” over 20 years ago. I can’t believe it’s on CZcams!
I love the set where he does Mississippi queen on an acoustic...it's just crazy he can make that electric acoustic scream
Paul Stanley on bass. 17:28
I was just thinking the same hing before I saw your comment! LMFAO
hahahaha
He's not quite gay-ee enough.
Marty Friedman on bass. He later went to preform with Megadeth. An incredible guitar player as well.
4:40 My boi Zakk misses his face with that loogie and makes it land perfectly on his hat haha.
Shit was the most epic thing I’ve possibly ever seen and didn’t even miss a note!! HAHAHAHA G’DAAAAMNNN HE’S BADASS MOFO!!
Of all the pentatonic players over the decades, Zakk certainly has carved out a style that is unmistakably wylde!
This just shows how zakk wylde is one of the greatest to ever do it
How amazing for the people that got to see this in person. Glad somebody recorded and posted this. Really awesome.
1:04:34 - Regarding the drums and bass, it sounds like Zakk says cheers to "Kevin" and "Anthony" for backing him up at the very end.
Saw Zakk do one of these at Luca Music in Providence Rhode Island some time in the early 90's. 91 I believe. I remember the Tush cover. It was killer. Zakk blew the roof off the place.
His version of Red House toward the end was so fucking banging!!!
Paul Stanley on Bass..yeah!!!
who ever it is would of got cock rammed by big Zakk
fuck off
"this is back when zakk used to warsh".......Ozzy.
🤣🤣🤣
One of my all time favourites to do it man, and he’s fuckin STILL up there doing the same damn thing, just playing guitar, being a badass, up there now jamming for Pantera?! What a ride for Zakk it all must be. A true road dog lifer.
Man I remember that guitar. Always loved it but you don't see it anymore.
Too racist these days lol.... 😴
Zakk is awesome !!! \m/
Anyone else notice how many times the camera man tried to give the other guys some time and Zakk jumped right in front of the camera?
lol
Amazing performance!
Rochester NY 👍
He is and has always been a Monster of the guitar World!!
Hes actually the best ever. Then Randy and Dime come 2nd
@@WalkingDead520 thats a bold statement! but I would not argue that hes one of them.. John 5 is up and coming... you dont think EVH belings? if youre talking Genre as in Heavy Metal Hard rock, then hes WAY up there, but there are a LOIT of Fusion guys that are just INSANE!!
@@wcreview8227 bold i agree haha. I am talking heavy metal/rock and the reason i say metal and rock is because they are big genres(not subgenres) so technically i am not saying they are the best in their genres (even though they are) but they are also the best overall guitarists that have ever lived (because all music genres are interconnected) right? Toni Lommi is the pioneer, maybe Van Halen and Randy as well, but they were also the best in each of their time. Maybe they can still be considered the best. But i try to put everyone in order and how music and everything that exists is always evolving, thats why i would say Zakk and Dime are the ending pinnacle of guitarists/ or of heavy metal/ rock/hard rock. Im not sure, what do you think? But yes basically, music died after the 90s but since Zakk is one of the best if not the best and is still alive, hes the best guitarist keeping music alive to this day. And the reason i would put Randy over Dime is because Dime had a ego of wanting to be better than everyone. Randy was a natural and still managed to be the best. I would still consider Randy the best ever because he was around when music hit its peak (he made it, i think) and he created 2 important techniques that shaped all of metal of today. Zakk and Dime are the epitome of Randy and Van Halen.
i like this zakk wylde more...idk why but just everything seems better
It's cuz he has no beard
Cause he’s not mindlessly shredding over everything, he’s actually playing with a lot more feel here
And because every other note isnt a pinch harmonic........ ;)
It’s called Youth my man.
Zakke come to our town.....I could dance on the stage and headbanging! You rock and get Ozzy back up to gear! My Dads his age and we have seen so many of your shows. I drew Ozzy's portrait and I did get to send Sharon a ger well card and beautiful envelope that I colored and drew it so nicely they sent me an Autograph. Thank you Jack, Kelly, Sharon and Ozzy! Someday I want your autograph to Zakke.
..2006 you were second stage in Washington you were righteous! My husband had me come over to your stage and I just flat love yah! To all rockers out there rock on and have a great weekend and to our Vererana and Bikers God bless America. Love,GREMLIN
Thank you Z for the greatest set ever
Still can't believe Ozzy hired Andrew Watt play on his new CD: sacrilege!!!
...except it's good. I know, sacrilege. I bought it, hated it so much I actually returned it. I wanted my Zakk and Ozzy combo ( even though the last couple of those have been less than thrilling). Started hearing the graveyard tune on the radio a bit, figured "that one's growing on me", bought it again and I love it. Had to drop my preconceptions and open up, it's a great fuckin rock album. A fresh take in Ozzy's career. Still love Zakk, but he's better off doing his own thing anyway. Andrew Watt injected some vitality into the catalogue and deserves a nod of respect. Just my take, if you hate it, I'm sorry, that sucks. Like the Metallica black album, everyone I knew loved it and played it all the time, I wanted to like it but I hated it. Still do.
@@saltpeter7429 matter of taste of course. Did not even like Watt's stint with Glenn Hughes California Breed's CD is boring to me
I remember Ozzy said that the reason he fired Zakk was because he thought that he was starting to sound like Black Label Society
At 4:40he spits a loogie into the air and catches it back in his mouth without missing a note
These days he spits them into the crowd ..

Not for me......
Zakk had better hair than most chicks lol I love that he went all out for probably 60 people there, and what a lucky group!
