      Beyond the Game TV nah bro... just bought myself a canon 90d and a 70-200 f2.8 IS iii lens to shoot pics of kids games. But will now get the 18-200mm after watching your videos. Might look at doing sports videography as a hobby for the my kids.. your videos are helpful as! Good for amateur dads like us just wanting to create awesome videos for the kids.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for your feedback man, good to hear. The lens you have is much better quality than the 18-200mm though, just FYI. But the 18-200mm will give you more focal range, especially if you're filming from the sidelines. I'm guessing when the action is up close you're probably struggling to keep everything in frame at 70mm.

    • @selimoakamoto3398
      @selimoakamoto3398 Před 3 lety

      Beyond the Game TV yeah bro.. definitely would like the wider close up shots that the 18mm allows for. Like you said in your clips.. having the 18-200 allows for the zoom but also the extreme close up without having to switch lens risking missing a critical moment.. keep up with the vids.. will be supporting and following closely!

    I'm no Videographer, but after learning a lot of after effects, photoshop, website creation tutorials; I REALLY love the way you get the lesson across and teach it in a 'Down-to-earth" manner. You aren't trying to get yourself discovered or become famous; you are wanting to provide education on the subject you love. After two years of editing my sons hockey games; I have found myself in the subtle war between video editors within the hockey community. The outcome has been slightly dramatic but the epic payoff comes from the grandparents and family members of the team that are not able to be there for their sons game. As I am writing this to you while deployed right now; Thank you, thankyou, THANKYOU, THANK-YOU! Looking forward to more of your Hockey video tips.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for your great feedback! Regarding the “text slide” effect, it’s a combination of a freeze frame, text, and a couple of grungy overlays. There are sites like videopilot and others that offer free overlays similar to this that you can put on top of your footage to add some texture.

    this is such good advice. Anything in particular that you would do for mountain bike videos? I usually highlight trails using POV with gopro on a chest mounted gimbal or head mounted camera.... I'd love to get some more shots to build more of a story but I'm at a loss for how to do it.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 4 lety +1

      POV are definitely a must but it’s also good to give viewer a broader perspective. I would once in a while position my camera where it can capture a wide shot of the trail and then go back and ride my bike from one end of the frame to the other. Then repeat that a few times when it makes the most sense.

    wow! this video is helping me a lot as I am totally new to this! I am trying to edit a video of our sports (football) event and really liked the way you used these effects with the freeze frames. • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 6 lety

      Hey man thanks for your great feedback. I'm glad it's helping you this much because that's the whole point of the show really. Regarding your question, to add texture on top of your image, like glass for example, you need to find a still image of glass texture (which you can find easily with a Google image search), apply it on top of your footage (seperate layer), and then change the blending mode to something like overlay, soft light, etc. You have to test a few and just pick the blending mode you prefer. Then add some movement too to add to the effect. In saying that, it all depends on what editing software you are using. If you don't use any Adobe or Final cut products, you might not have the tools necessary to do this. Good luck man and feel free to get in touch if you have more questions.

Glad I came across your channel. How did you create the effect at 3:55? I'm guessing After Effects but I'm curious how you created it. Looks like some type of "glass" layer with a 3D camera in Ae. Thanks for sharing your videos!

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 2 lety +1

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 5 lety

      Hi and thanks for reaching out. The effect you mention in your comment is a combination of a few things. First I do a freeze frame and slowly zoom into the image. Then add some look filters, texture overlays and text, as well as a quick glitch transition and sound effect. Some of these assets have to be bought online, some are free. But you can all create them yourself if you have the patience to do so.

    Hi can you offer any tips for filming motorcycle racing both day and under lights?

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 3 lety

      My main advice would be to use a camera that can do slow motion, 120fps if possible. Although I've never do motorcycle videos so I'm probably not the best to ask. But you should join or Facebook group "Sports Videography Community". There are a few videographers there that do amazing motorcycle racing videos. They would be of great help to you I'm sure.

    My 8th grade son just got the opportunity presented to him today to film the football games for his Jr high school. Here I am as a single parent, diving into the unknown with him. I’m hoping you can give me tips or ways to show him how to get it done. He’s very tech savvy and edits his own music/diy videos. Any tips you have? I’d love to find you in social media if you’re open to that to chat more! Thanks a bunch!!

      Sports videography is exactly what my whole channel is about so my best advice would probably be to watch a bunch of my videos. I have a playlist dedicated to filming tips which is probably where he should start to understand things like exposure, frame rate, etc. (there's even one video dedicated to filming football). All my social media are on the 'About' page of this channel by the way.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes that's a good one. With close-ups I like to have nice depth of field so, if you can afford it, I would get the f2.8 instead of the f4.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 5 lety +1

      I don’t know much about it to be honest. I would assume that in motor sports, GoPros and drones are the way to go if you can afford it. But it all depends on the purpose of the video I guess.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  Před 3 lety

      Hey Bradley, a "great" video editing studio is a very generic description. If you're talking about performance, you should invest in things like RAM, a good processor and a decent graphics card. But ultimately it all depends on your editing software and the type of footage you typically edit. All editing platforms come with specification requirements for your computer which are very easy to find using Google.
