- Extinction Rebellion has threatened a wave of “unprecedented” disobedience unless its climate change demands are met.
The group says that unless the Government ends licences for new fossil fuel projects and creates climate change citizens' assemblies it will step up its disruptive campaign in “new and inventive ways”.
TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by Extinction Rebellion spokesman Etienne Stott MBE to discuss the threats.
He tells Julia: "We have to end the fossil fuel era otherwise, we're going to end our civilization. These are not my words, they're the words of the United Nations.”
Julia countered: "This is where it's irresponsible. People like you, Greta Thunberg; this is scaremongering and an absolute lie.”

What did happen to the coming Ice Age we were not so long ago being warned about? Up until the mid-1970’s they were warning us of a new Ice Age that was coming and that very soon it would be the end of humanity. Since the early 1940’s the world’s temperature had been steadily dropping. The UK winter of 1963 was the coldest since the 14th century. And I can testify to that fact as I can still remember it and I can remember it well! And it was cold. Believe me it was cold. It snowed on Christmas Day 1962 and then some more-so, and then some more-so, and then those pesky frozen-solid snow-drifts didn’t thaw until well into spring. Going to a New Years Eave Party I can still clearly remember seeing hundreds of dead birds lying everywhere. They had frozen to death. And it wasn’t just the UK that was frozen over like a popsicle! It was the entire Northern Hemisphere. There was thick snow even in places like Barcelona. And now there were all those gloomy popular science books being written galore and now all those even gloomier science fiction books, with lurid covers on them showing ice covered cities with the tops of Big Ben and the Empire State Building seen poking out through the ice-caps. And polar bears were seen roaming the desolate and now ice-cap covered fields of Surrey. Then during the summer of 1976 there was snow in June and Test Matches were cancelled. The new ice-age had come!!! But then, just a week later it became as hot as the Mediterranean, and the thermometer stayed stuck right up there in the high 30’s and even the low 40’s Celsius and it didn’t rain for weeks and weeks, not until autumn. Then it didn’t stop raining for months and months! And 1976 was the year of the great-drought when we couldn’t have a bath, or use our hosepipes to water the garden lawn, and we all had to get our drinking water from standpipes in the street. And since then, those climate Jonah’s who had been recently warning of a coming ice age, they were now banging on-and on-about global warming. The times given until the dooms-day end of the world has varied from 8 to 12-years and it all went something like this: 1992, 2004, 2018. And now it’s 2100 until the end of the world? Give or take a 1,000-years?

1969: everyone will disappear in a cloud of blue steam by 1989
1970: the world will use up all its natural resources by 2000, urban citizens will require gas masks by 1985, nitrogen build-up will make all land unusable, decaying pollution will kill all the fish, killer bees, ice age by 2000 and America will be subject to water rationing by 1974 and food rationing by 1980
1971: new ice age coming by 2020 or 2030
1972: new ice age by 2070 and oil depleted in 20yrs
1974: space satellites show new ice age coming fast, ozone depletion and "Great peril to life"
1976: scientific consensus planet cooling and famines imminent
1977: department of energy says oil will peak in the 90s
1978: no end in sight to 30yr cooling trend
1980: acid rain kills life in lakes and peak oil in 2000
1988: regional droughts in the 90s, temperatures in DC will hit record highs and Maldives will be underwater by 2018
1989: rising sea levels will obliterate nations if nothing is done by 2000 and New York City's West Side Highway will be underwater by 2019
1996: peak oil in 2020
2000: children won't know what snow is
2002: famine in 10yrs if we don't give up eating meat, fish and dairy and peak oil in 2010
2004: Britain will be Siberia by 2024
2005: Manhattan will be underwater by 2015
2006: super hurricanes
2008: the Arctic will be ice free by 2018 and Climate Genius Al Gore predicts an ice free Arctic by 2013
2009: Climate Genius Prince Charles says we have 96 months to save the world, UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown says we have 50 days to "save the planet from catastrophe" and Climate Genius Al Gore moves his 2013 prediction of an ice free Arctic to 2014

In Australia we had the mildest summer in years and were told some years back that the dams would never be filled and they were overflowing. We also were told the ski fields would not see snow again but had a great cover of natural snow, best in years. And were warned that cyclones would hit record level but we only experienced 7 down on the average of 11, it seems climate warming has gone walkabout down under.
Believe it or not Australia and the Oceania area are now cooling.Your temperatures were rising ,that stopped a just a few years back.Europe,Asia and Africa have been cooling for longer and the US has been level for at least 30 years.This data taken from weather stations installed about 50 years ago around the world.The big difference is that these stations are away from cities and runways meaning their readings are more accurate of the overall temperature

When I was younger I heard the Maldives will be under water in 10 years. I thought that's a shame I fancied going there.
