It's cool looking back and seeing how far Hayden has come in terms of welding skills.
for eBay turbos, Speedfactory used to run these on one of their 10 sec Vitara hatches. big factor to your oil leak is running too big of an oil line. -3 is recommended but if running a -4 you'll want an oil restrictor.
real street car builders! light chassis hondas with budget built setups! sick as fuck ! boosted boiz 100! fun as hell
Glad to see you guys making progress on the Odyssey
legit been waiting all day for y'all to upload love this channel keep up the good work
This might sound stupid but this channel and you guys are the reason why I am taking a shot at fixing my truck. I knew a decent amount about Chevy motors and then my head gasket blew. I own a 2.2l Chevy s10 96 4cyl automatic 120 k miles I wanted to save it and this channel just gave me the confidence that kids my age can do this stuff
I love this channel! I am obsessed with Hondas (motorcycles) and turbos. I drive a 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth and I have a Focus zx3 that is begging for boost... your vids are motivation.
Love seeing these eBay turbos work out for people, keep it up. I'm working on piecing together a turbo d16, gonna work my way up to 30psi lol
"Just one oreo??" xD Hayden is like wtf how do you eat just one. Hahaha.
Damn now she’s awd k swapped turbo 😍😍😍 u came a long way bro keep it up
At first I wasn't sure, but I actually really like having Hayden in the videos. Plus he films pretty well. Great vid man. As always.
Am i the only one who thinks kyle looks like thomas from project x lmao
Jim LMAO he does!
lmao i commented that on an earlier vid
Joseph Rikys he looks exactly like him
Jim same
Oh my god so true😂😂
Nice work mate, glad to see the channel is growing a good clip
I love that rainbow effect after welding it looks really cool.
i love how they upload at like 4 am likes its perfect no one else i follow does that and its the best just waiting for it to come because it always does
glad I found this channel! been here since the hatch build
HUNT3R GAMING ikr me to Been here since 1300 subs which is crazy
good to see a new turbo installed the feeds working good it seems like aybe even better
You guys should make stickers that say fuck it, since Hayden always says it
JoeysWorldTour I'd buy a fuck it sticker. shit would be mint
JoeysWorldTour should also make some stickers that say "should be good to go" and " I'm not too worried about it".
JoeysWorldTour FUuucK it...
or a sticker saying "i should run 9s and my buddie shouod run 11s"
And "It's sketchy" "It's sketching me out"
Kyle, 4k left dude!! it's amazing!! KEEP IT UP BOIZ
@boostedboiz, If your return line has any resistance the turbo will eat oil. In other words no 90 deg fittings only strait large diameter lines (mandrel bends only). This is of the most importance, also new seals ( bushings ) are around 7 dollars
what the real problem with the original turbo was the sharp 90 degree drain fitting would not allow the oil to properly drain thus over pressurized the center section seal weeping past the gap.
sirjizzalot think you nailed it!!
For an oil feed you run a small -4an 90* facing forward toward the radiator on the center section. That is pressurized higher and can go through a 90* no problem. Te return needs to straight with no bends. Even a single 90* is sketchy. You can get "push lock" style barb fittings in -an and come right out of the bottom of the turbo with a 45* facing the oil pan.
The whole reason the seals are blown are due to the clocking of the turbo.
You can get a -4an 90* and that will go right on top of the CHRA in the feed port just like your restrictor or you can connect it right to the restrictor. VOILA! Your turbo can now be clocked right and your oil feed will not touch the manifold. I speak from experience not internet trolling
It isn't a about the feed that is pressurized so high with engine rpm, you are worried about it's way back to the pan. If you run your car too full of oil there is chance of it building up in turbo and blowing seals faster. Run your car low on oil and there is a chance you can help in the starvation of oil to the pan. I think after looking again you would need a -6an x -4an elbow and that would make the feed line Gucci. I have a 650whp dsm and have gone through a few turbos figuring out proper feeding and drainge.
Surprised that no one has said this - but that huge bend in the return line is likely why the seals blew. If you don't have an absolutely smooth, and almost completely vertical oil drain line with a large orifice, you will build pressure in the cartridge.
This will cause either premature wear of the seals, or if it's bad enough, it'll push through immediately. Should definitely tend to this.
I like your videos because they remind me when I was new to building tuners, just throwing shit together to get it to work. Not dissing you at all - it's all a learning experience and brings back memories of me and my buddies.
Good guys, keep up the good work 🏁
I still have the same eBay turbo that you bought and it has over 20,000 miles on it by now and it's still tight as a drum. I bought a second one because one of the downpipe bolts broke off in the exhaust housing and it only lasted like 1000 miles before the seals went bad and it started smoking. I took the exhaust housing off of that turbo, put it on the first turbo, and I'm still rocking it on my B series in my EK Civic coupe. It's luck of the draw brother. Sometimes you get a good one, and sometimes you get a shit one.
Boosted B Series EK can you give the link for the turbo?
glad u uploaded was jus abt t sleep
The boyz just talking normal casually cussing like we’re chillin with them. And best part was Hayden taking about doing shitty on his welding exam only to start his own badass company. We’ve come a long way boys. Cheers!
you guys living the life.
you have no idea how long I've been waiting for a upload ...I checked atleast 3-4 times a day
Maybe it's time to get a job?
that or hes on his phone or pc at work, when he should be working.
Mr.009mm Killuminati maybe BC its Saturday?
It's 3:38am when I'm watching this lol I should probably sleep and watch it tomorrow (later today) fuck it
The question is will last longer now, the motor, the trans, or the turbo! Its like a game show!
That radiator looks woefully inadequate to even cool a four cylinder hell the a/c condenser on my car is twice the size of that radiator and my radiator is another twice as large as that and it's just a v6.
@@bdhale34 to be honest. They actually cool these motors substantially well especially for the size. I know from my experience at least my car doesn't go anywhere near even 210. And when it gets cold in winter I'm lucky if it even hits "proper" operating temps lol.
@@TheBeep818 My car rarely gets over 190 but it has a full sized radiator in it.
@@bdhale34 ya mine is similar dimensions as the one in video. I was just saying surprisingly for the size. They kick Ass. Haha
@@TheBeep818 Wouldn't hold up for anything besides short trips in my vehicle, volume matters also surface area matters probably as much as the volume, the lower the volume and surface area the faster the system becomes saturated and there will be a point where the output of heat from an engine will out pace the cooling area/volume of a radiator that size. of course my car has a 3.8l v6 in it which likely puts out a considerable amount more heat than a all aluminum 4 banger.
I've been running a T25 ebay turbo, no filter for 20k miles, I live in the northwest if that makes a difference and she still spooling like a champ!
2 years later.. How is it running? And what size restrictor are you running?
The engine sounded better at this boost level.
You should consider keeping it in that range
that way it lasts longer and drives smoother.
It seems to be the sweet spot for the rods
and cam that you went with.
Consider lower compression ratio & higher lift
cam to address some flow restrictions. This will
safely get you running higher psi levels. But you
will likely need e85 or methanol to keep up.
Trying to up boost much more in current trim
will continue to be a big maintenance issue.
Seems the turbo oil line gravity feed restriction
would only become a wear issue if you are pushing
30psi+, the higher the boost the more oil pressure
is created and that factory single cam oil pump
sure isn't optimized for oil needs of that big turbo
at high boost. The step down in size of your fittings
prior wasn't helping the restriction either.
Part of the reason those turbo seals fail at high
boost is snapping throttle closed under psi
turbine is decelerating rapidly and air pressure
builds in the piping, bov vents so pressure drops,
turbo decels more which is ok but so is engine
so not much oil pressure then turbo is starved
intermittently and momentarily.
Whenever decel a bov turbo car on boost helps to close
throttle about half or just enough until bov vents and
then that's when you let off the rest of the way. This
will help the high rpm turbine last longer. Turbo Tricks.
"I lift Oreos into my mouth", good one:)
I have the dna turbo on my forged 383 stroker. Use that restrictor makes a huge difference. If those turbos get to much oil they piss oil out the seals.
Mines been clocked at a 45 for a years no problem dont worry.
I like the videos found your channel only recently. I found it quite interesting you talking about the welding tests for job. A helium mix seems to be the preferred shielding gas for welding aluminium as it is more versatile. with helium you definitely see a deeper digging effect then argon. That's why it pools so quickly.
all welds need to have some sort of destructive test to ensure that welds are sound even if it is a multipass
@boostedboiz what motors are you two running? what rods are you using? I have a d15b7 and everyone is telling me that there isn't stronger rods made for the d15s. any input?
Randomly got recommended this, Jesus it feels like I watched this a year ago. Had no idea it was so long ago man.
The issue with not clocking the turbos straight up and down I believe is it blows out your seals faster if it's not within the 15 degree area. The oil doesn't drain out properly and pushes through the seals and burns the oil. The oil feed is no concern.
some excellent info from Honeywell Garrett.....
www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/oil_water_lines
the oil port orientation is not about the inlet its more about the outlet. as gravity feeds the drain it needs to be able to drain easily. 30deg from vert is all you can safely allow.
Cool to see where he was at three years ago now he makes custom manifolds good job Haden
For that oil line you could use a small block spark plug wire heat sock I got mine at napa. They just slip on over the plug and plug wire to protect against the heat from the header
We don't have emissions tests here in upstate ny, but you can't have a check engine light on, and like 5 of the 7 readiness codes need to be passed.
That's how they get ya from clearing codes 2 minutes before you drive in....
musta cleared em on a cold start or something and had some drive time to the inspection station, or CO isn't that strict.
New turbo! new boost
niec gauges, cant wait to see them installed and lit up.
This was the first video I ever watched if yours.
do you guys put air filters on any of your vehicles?
if you don't I imagine the sand particles runnin thru the turbo and engine bearings rips em a new one fairly often
fuck yea i love waking up to your videos
Thought this was a new upload and then realized it wasnt. Miss the old videos with the squad
very fine grit
you need a 90° fitting into the turbo and run the feed on the dizzy side if u want to re clock the turbo straight up and down
Awesome video :)
I think we should all give Hayden props for stepping up and being more videos lately. I can honestly say he makes videos entertaining AF. Everyone sub to his channel! @SuicideCRX
Which turbo did you buy, I want one of those for my b16... it looks like it spooled quicker than my last ebayer did on my old d series?
sent yall a pakage it should be there soon
The turbo is clocked funny, the wastegate is in a terrible place, the oil line to the turbo is crazy close to the exhaust manifold, the car is hacked up, some of the wielding is a little questionable, but it still goes like a bat out of hell. Nice.
Fucking cool bunch of guys. Keep it up. This channel is great. 🍺
just saw that you still need the wastegate gasket, on my 3 cylinder turbo diesel garden tractor I just use orange high temp silicone, its good to like 2000 degrees and ive had it hold 30psi with no issues, i use it for everything on the hot side that needs a gasket
How far you guys out from PFI? I'm movin to fort Carson in a couple months. I see a couple videos ago they had a neon srt in there how did that turn out, need to get mine better tuned.
MR2 is going to be hella sick!
I'd eat the whole fucking box too, hayden. no worries.
Opened up my ebay turbo, 25psi and hasn't broke yet. I've been running it for 23 minutes, Good buy.
What size oil restrictor you running?
correct me of im wrong but i beleive you preform your welds in sequence insted of one on either side and then another in the middle. i think your supposed to go from one side to the other so they tie in.
Just wondering, could you run an inlet tube from the cold side to somewhere by the passenger headlight?
back @ it again with 430am uploads 😏
have ya thought about using a 45 -an fitting then use a cut to length hose the same diameter of fitting into the pan. IMO it's always best to have a larger return line than feed, allows for a smoother free flow. Also would look on ebay for a longer braided line for the feed, run it from the back of the block, over to the passenger wide and over the cold side of the turbo, that way ya don't have to worry about it resting on the manifold. Fucked up thing is, the braided line will be less than the fitting.
hey just curious would you guys be able to do a video on how you guys ran your boost gauge and boost controller lines?
Hayden understands my plight with the Oreo's.
Hey dude what type of valve, spring , rods, pistons, sleeve did you used on it forged or not?
hi, can you tell which seller you use for ebay turbos? I would like to get one for that cheap but not sure which sellers have good quality turbos
Go full 3 inch on the piping, or at least make the cold side 3 inch. Keep up the good work man, love your videos!
Pumping oreos and cran-mango on the front seat. Nice 21psi on the new ebay SNAIL. Get those bolts back in your torsion bar, better grip on the front wheel drive.
What should the throttle percentage be while achieving target Boost once the turbo has enough spool?
Damn, this makes me happy. I've rigged some pretty stupid looking fittings but the more simple you can design your "ghetto" rig the more likely it'll actually hold together and work.
Dude i wanna ask you somethin. Where i should drill holes for the oil feed and return lines?
The wago has to pass emissions? How does that work in Colorado? In NewYork, anything older than 95 is only visual/safety emissions, no obd plug-in for codes or monitors for 95 or older
about your turbo oil feed and drain ,why didnt you turn your turbo so the compressor side is on the right when facing your engine
I cant get over them weld lines.
Subbed for the intro
Big fan
Keep up the good work
Question
You guys using Ebay turbo.
You guys seem to have good luck with it.
Do you guys daily your Ebay turbo?
when is the civic going to be put back on the road.
There it is
sickest sleeper
Is Charlie still tryna find his flip flops? lol
im fighting heat and too much oil with my turbo.. same thing happened to me.. drain got a small place in it and stopped the oil smoked i fixed it and now just taking it easy till i order another one... same one you ordered.
Why dont you put a 90 fitting on the turbo feed so you have the drain perfectly vertical?
indeed but probably doesnt fit
What are your thoughts on throwing an air filter on the cold side of the turbo?
stayed up late for this one!
do you guys worry about not having intake air filter? love the vids
Yoo, nice videos, I wanna learn how to weld aluminum and exhaust manifolds, any tips and tricks you can offer?
When are you going to start building the hatch kyle? an when do you guys plan on boosting the manvan??
I have a feeling the k20 mr2 is going to be one of the sickest builds yet.
Sounds about right. I'm thinking of doing an older 2006-08 or so civic si coupe build myself. Going to take me a little while to afford something like that though compared to these nice little h22 builds. A nice jdm engine and trans prelude locally is like 3k. So ill likely have to go nationwide for some better deals. How much whp did the mr2 on 1320 have that you are talking about? Looks like they have some 900+ mr2 builds on there. I'm going to be shooting for 500whp without e85 most likely.
I'm all open to suggestions so if a base RSX is usually in better condition and cheaper it seems like a no brainer to me. I'm just trying to have a nice little fun 300whp-500whp 3000lb or under vehicle. That way it has a nice power to weight ratio and feels similar to my daily impreza. Rsx being 2790 curb weight wise with 160 to 210 engine hp stock I think it would be a nice way to go. If I got a type s it would be faster than my impreza stock vs stock by a good bit. Can't expect a measly fb20 to hang with the k20 I guess haha. Also as you said they do look quite nice exterior wise.
I bet on of those little spark plug heat shield boots would work good where the oil feed line is close to the ex mani prob pick one up for cheap
never heard of those and I just looked some up, that could be a great idea
That is a great idea, that's exactly what they use em for too. Wrap the plug wires to keep em off the manifold.
Why don't you have your wideband hooked up to the Hondata?
What turbo manifold is on Charlie’s car? Looks sorta like a stock manifold modified or something from what I can tell? Cool videos.
How can the turbo feed be dremeled out kuz the exhust side, when the dremel mark is not on the exhust side?,it's on the inlet side?
I'm just saying wrapping the header is gonna be a time saver
the oil line not being straight up and down wont hurt anything... if its really off the turbo might burn some oil, but thats mostly because of the drain not the supply
within 10 seconds you said "shaft play " and "took a shit on me" LOL
wish i had a friend like you 😢
