Yes he got lyme over a decade ago but he was continually misdiagnosed. It derailed his early career, and he was bedridden periodically for most of the last decade. This video is a scathing critique of the healthcare industry that told him his side effects were all in his head so they prescribed the wrong medicine and it made things worse. He knew he wasn’t crazy, but they weren’t taking the time to really try to understand what was wrong with him and he suffered unduly. The Lyme disease slowly ate away at his brain, and even made him hallucinate. He is in Canada undergoing special treatment to try to reverse a lot of the brain damage and physical pain he is chronically experiencing.
The first doctor Ren went to go see to try to figure out what was wrong told him the pain was all in his head, and he needed to figure out how to get over it. That started a long string of doctors who misdiagnosed the lymes disease (the symptoms are similar to a lot of other diseases) and kept prescribing medication that made him worse instead of better.
I got my right leg run over in a work accident in 2012 which resulted in the nerves being crushed.Within 2 years I lost all feelings in my toes,my ankle fused,I developed osteoporosis from my toes to just my knee and my leg became deformed yet one specialist wrote a report and said it was all in my head.

That specialist probably had an expensive medication he wanted to prescribe... made by a company that paid for his 5-star resort vacation in the Caribbean last year. So I mean yeah... of course it was all in your head. So please, just settle down and take your pills... and if they're not doing anything, we may need to double the dosage, okay?
This one hit me almost as hard as Hi Ren.
Psychological damage, trauma, live-long mental health issues manifesting physically all the time. My mind making me sick.
Decades of trying different medications, an encyclopedia of coping strategies, retraining my brain again and again and again and again.
Frustration. Drowning drowning drowning.
I am sick and this world makes me sicker. Fear and consumption as infinite pressure. I know I can make headway if the world shuts up.
I'm so glad you came back to Ren, you have so much more to discover. I checked your page maybe two or three days ago hoping you'd done more Ren and it just slipped through my algorithm, I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed, but I'm happy now that you are.

I resonated really well with this, I had similar circumstances but with Fibromyalgia rather than Lymes disease. Not getting a proper diagnosis and getting treatment indiscriminately is shear hell!

Yeah you're missing out big time... You need to hit the Ren rabbit hole and go on a deep dive. There is sooo much gold waiting for you! I ended up checking out everything on his page. Out of the 100 or so different tracks he has, only about 7 to 10 missed me. and another 25 to 30 absolutely blew my mind!!! And the rest were pretty awesome. and I like many other Renegades end my night checking out fresh reactions.

Medications can definitely be different for different people. After 20 years I just switched and it's made a big difference in something I've always dealt with. And hell finding the right therapist is seriously like dating.. It usually takes a few before you find one that clicks.

I'm sure the "trauma response" is a legit thing that people have to deal with. But in Ren's case, this was a misdiagnosis. And the callous way this woman diagnoses him, IMO, is where the cynical and dark Ren that he argues with in "Hi Ren" get's it's self credibility. I also believe this recurring pig butcher character is his cynical and dark side's interpretation of his medical caregivers. And the reason his struggle with this cynical and dark side was so epic in "Hi Ren" was because it's right about this...what else is it right about? I think this song is a representation of much earlier in his medical journey than "Hi Ren". This is when he is more naïve and susceptible to just trusting the diagnosis. We see this dark, cynical side come to life in this video, as he get's flashes of the pig butcher sitting in place of his therapist. We see the quick shot of the pig butcher slicing Ren's throat, as his trust of the process and diagnosis crumbles away. This is in a sense the prelude to the same story that "Hi Ren" is the conclusion to.
Check.out his song "Seven sins" and "Sick boi pt 2". "Money Game pt 3" is a next level gut punch

i know its a tough song to react to and totally understand if you do not want to do it , but i would love if you did Rens some Suicide
My interpretation of this is that his misdiagnosis and the expectation to "just go along with the plan" are a smaller reflection of the bigger problem. To me, the pig mask represents people who do just go along with it in their own self-interest.
If you want to hear more of his singing, definitely check out "Diazepam" or his live duets with the artist Chinchilla - "Chalk Outlines" or "How to Be Me".
This wasn’t about trauma response. The lyrics are about how he was misdiagnosed. They couldn’t figure out what was making him physically sick. So the song talks about their psychological reason for his body being ill. That’s where “negative feedback loop” was their diagnosis. So the pills they gave him didn’t do anything at all to help him. Just actually made him worse because now he has the side effects to those drugs that aren’t doing anything positive because that wasn’t what was wrong with him.
