I loved this show as a kid. Watched it every Saturday. Recently I noticed reruns playing on cable and was pleasantly surprised at how well written and enjoyable I still find them.

You neglected to say WHY John Hart took over the part of the Lone Ranger during that short time. I believe it had to do with a pay type walk out (strike) by Clayton Moore. As a kid I could tell that the voices between them were different.....John didn't have the low voice that Clayton did. John later on became a star in his own right as "Hawkeye" in the TV series "Hawkeye and The Last of the Mohicans" 1957. Trivia worth noting on that same show: "Chingachgook" (the Mohican Indian in that show) was played by none other than Lon Chaney Jr of the old "Wolfman" horror films of the '30s! In later years Jay Silverheels narrated many historical shows for school and library use. His calm and deep voice were unmistakable.

When I was four years old I thought the Lone Ranger was tv Heaven.
To watch that masked man riding that white horse gave me indescribable joy.
You should have made this video a lot sooner, sadly there's no then and now, only then and gone.
If I could only be four years old again watching the Lone Ranger.

I only remember the Lone Ranger and Tonto. The other people were just there to make the stories - I don't remember any of them. Jay Silverheels' Canadian government name was Harry J. Smith. He was born into a prominent Mohawk-Seneca family at Six Nations of the Grand River, ON, Canada. He was also a star Lacrosse player.

Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, CA was the original film location of the Lone Ranger ambush. Many 40s,50s & 60s westerns were made there

The problem with John Hart was that he was NOT Clayton Moore. If he had been first cast in the role he would have done just fine.

From what I've been told. Indians don't grow facial hair like a beard. The pictures shows Tonto in his later years with a full beard. He became Chief in his real tribe.

  • @adrianaangelcoria1248

I watched it in the 50s, and I always wonder why he was called Tonto. Tonto means not intelligent.

This position spead everywhere and we are all paying for it.
Look at the position of the English Tory party and I do mean the English Tory party.
Please remember there is more than one country in the UK and not one view on politics .
The ironic thing the front bench in Westminster is multi coloured bit the same upper class accent and supersillness.

I disagree with the story teller. John hart was far more enjoyable to watch than that other guy that had to always show off how he could handle a gun.
