Man I'd pay good money for an alarm like that...especially because my cats are so old they stopped breaking stuff. Also those bees would be purrfect for a bee alarm clock...especially if the clock sprayed in some attack pheromone a few minutes before releasing them at wakey wakey time.

I'm assuming the corridor was a servant's passage so they could get around the house without being seen, but the people who later got the house didn't want a secret entrance to their room because it was creepy. The "dungeon" might just be servant's quarters.
@@notnormalyet Sorry but that house isn't that old & the likely explanation is far less interesting. Houses that are built into hillsides often end up with 'void spaces' that are too small to be used as proper rooms & usually have moisture issues because they butt up against the hillside. They are usually left with service accesses for inspection of the foundation or access to electrical, HVAC or plumbing equipment that is sometimes installed there to get it out of the way.

Yeah so the prison bars and such, combined with this being California, indicates to me that the voids the others mentioned had been retrofitted to a BDSM/roleplay dungeon. California has a lot of wealthy alternative communities, and many run large events (eg Black Sheets).
