From what I read in an ancient Trains magazine, upon Amtrak taking over the private railroads' passenger service, is that Amtrak liked the E units enough to approach EMD about the manufacture of something like an E10. Unfortunately, the carbody blueprint had been done away with - thrown away - which made building costs for the new unit, prohibitive. This is why there were no new E units
Understandable. ACL retired their last steam locomotive (K-14 4-6-0 250) in 1952, so there likely isn’t any footage from before that unless it’s in some private collection or archive.

I LOVE those Mars Lights on those old EMD E7s!!! Why can't we have trains like that today???
Green And Orange Line Productions
I totally agree with you! Those trains had character and style!
Very nice!
Looks like Seaboard Coast Line had clean passenger trains. Those cab units are shiny.
That shines look didn't last very long.
Any plans for a DVD featuring ACL steam footage? I’d love to see that someday.
I wish we could but ACL steam is almost impossible to find as they dieselize very early.
