    28:00 very true. Basically our legs were already designed to hold our bodyweight with ease, in a variety of scenarios. Our arms and upper bodies, not as much, which is why calisthenics really pushes the upper body to the max.

    • @Candolad
      @Candolad Před 2 lety +4

      This is, why I first took up calisthenics. My legs have always been well developed (lots of bicycle-riding when I was a kid😉), but my upper body didn't match it no matter what weight training I did for years. Frustrated, and not enjoying "leg days", I began cali and my upper body is catching up with my lower.

    I agree with the strength training principles applying well to bodyweight training but I feel strongly that it should only be used when you start working on the very difficult skills. Specifically if you're training pushups, dips and pullups as a beginner you should try to work on getting the form down tight then work your reps up from there. Then once you start moving onto specific calisthenics skills like planches or levers and any other strength intensive skill calisthenics encompasses, you can move onto the strength training principles of lower reps and maximum effort. Just my two cents.
