- Over the better part of this century, bodybuilders have increased the natural performance of their bodies by using artificial substances. In episode 3 of Swole, we talk to a medical expert about the consequences from the use of anabolic steroids while following the daily routine of Mike Bolkovic, a bodybuilder who’s been injecting testosterone for the past eight years. Mike shares with us how the drug impacted his lifestyle and personal relationships.

Steroids might take you to the "next level," but even the most ardent users recognize there are often debilitating side-effects.

You'd better feature the internet's favourite natty bodybuilder Rich Piano in the series finale.

Black KNight is misleading a bunch of people, because he is saying the shutoff is permanent however endocrinologists etc have known ways using amino acid chains ( peptides ) to maintain the system...
If you are serious about steroids and human growth hormone you go to an endocrinologist... You don't listen to Bro Science on youtube... There are plenty of people who are on Anabolics and HGH under doctor supervision and won't have any negative side effects... Almost everyone I know who is rich is on some Hormone replacement therapy that is over the age of 50... Most of these guys who have the money go on some Hormone therapy around 40~..
If you are interested in pain killers for Chronic Pain you don't go talk to a Heroin Junkie, LOL!
Similarly, if I want Cuban Cigars I don't order them from China LOL! Literally, you can go to the doctor and have a whole freaken stack made out for you customized... You got the money, they got the Juice!
The people taking advantage are the Rich, the rest of you poor slobs gotta inject stuff from China, and no doctor supervision... This is what Prohibition gets us....
There is nothing wrong with a 40 year old man getting his hormone levels back to when he was 26 under doctor supervision...
A lot of this info is extremely misleading. I love Vice News because they actually have balls but this series on bodybuilding has been really, really bad. I was hoping they would cover this after seeing the first two but now I wish they hadn't. 2-7,000 a month on gear? And he says 2-5,000 is easy to spend? I would like him to math that out for me. Looked like he had about 400 bucks of empties from over the past year. He's not even using human grade gear or HGH. A vial of underground testosterone costs $30-40 if you aren't getting ripped off. A kit of Meditrope, an excellent generic HGH cost 150-250 depending on your circumstances. A kit of Serostim Human Grade HGH costs 750-800 a kit. Saizen (probably the best HGH) is $1,000 a month for a decent dose.
If you're doing it right you should actually be using a low dose of testosterone. His high test use is why he experienced so many sides. Also if he's been bodybuilding for 14 years where are the competition photos?
He basically just spewed a bunch of used up Rich Piana catch phrases (while dressed head to toe in his merchandise) and gave a bunch of bad "bro" info. He's a poser. A gym rat posing as a real bodybuilder.
I may sound like I'm on my high horse about this and it's because I am. I'm literally filming an in depth series with a film crew about this exact topic. We literally had our first filming day last Sunday.
Ben Stone where can we see the labors of your work? Sounds interesting
I have more respect for people who admit to using steroids then the tools who claim to be "natty".

@@MrTaytersDeep what about people with good genes people forget that that matters on your potential. Your body type matters as well. An endomorph can have much more potential on muscle mass than an ectomorph would. People just assume some guys are not Natty cause they can never get the point that guy is at no matter what they do.
@@Smith9082253 Yeah! , i trained for ten years, (looked good) I know others guys that don't take them and look good! But not as big or ripped as some lads I've seen come into the gym, within 6 months due to steroid abuse! They haven't been as strong, but it looks good if they have had the right gear, bulk cycle then rip cycle drugs! Highly additive and will result in certain early death! Mate at work been on them for years, only late 20's he has been through a divorce because he can't have children due to steroid abuse! I suppose it's what ever people want to sacrifice for vanity!
But the answer to ya question is yeah, you can look good and be strong naturally with the right genes, but never look like a pro bodybuilder! They do an actual clean bodybuilding competition, check it out, and compare it to a pro bodybuilding competition!

This makes me realize how little difference there is between getting addicted to steroids, and getting addicted to any other drug. Most of them are a lifestyle too.
There's a very real (direct, not just analogous) connection and relationship between the drug world and the world of steroids.
@@user-cn8nu6lq4w I don't buy the whole "addicted to steroids" thing. In addition to myself, I have several friends who can, and have, dropped it on a dime if needed. I agree on the addiction part. He even said he is "cruising"....just low doses in between the bigger cycles when he is blasting all the stuff together when he can afford it. This is the absolute worst way to get on some gear and the reason why most people lose their lives to it. Time on should = double time off before getting back on AAS. Can you do a follow up on these guys please
Never took steroids in my life and I still look fit and am pretty strong. I never felt the need to get super big or absurdly strong, what I have is more than enough. So I never fully understood steroid abuse personally
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being big and strong if you got what you did without it more power to you
The mindset is this. You are always comparing yourself to others, and I don't mean the natural comparison pretty much most humans make to others, I mean every single person you are looking at and finding ways that you are better than they are. Are you bigger than them? Are you stronger than them? Can you get more attractive females than they can? What car do they drive? How do others see this person's status compared to mine? The list goes on. Steroids is a cheat to beating all of these thoughts. You can shoot liquid poison into your body and workout just like you were doing before, and achieve bigger muscles, more strength, more looks from other people, your status increases relatively, people look up to you that are trying to achieve the same goals.
You no longer feel inadequate, you feel like you are better than most people you compare yourself to, and thats a win for them. I am speaking from experience, I struggle with all of these things, except taking steroids. When you spend 10 years putting your blood sweat and tears into the gym, following strict mesocycles, and meal prepping. Not eating the food that your body is craving at 10pm, not drinking, not doing drugs, getting up every morning and busting your ass in the gym. Its a different level of dedication. SO when someone who has been lifting for less than 5 years starts to blast steroids and HGH, they can get where you are in half the time, with half the effort, and half the dedication. It might even be less than half.
It does feel good though to see that I am bigger and leaner than 2 of the 3 individuals in this video, and I look better than all 3 of them and am lifetime natural. That should be pretty discouraging for them.

"How many guys don't look good that take steroids?"
You three lmao
@Chief Keef 😂😂😂 literally
The dude in the yellow vest when he was lifting looked pretty muscular. But the others looked terrible
hahahhahaahha
dont kid yourself this is what the average steroid user looks like, theres examples WAY WAYYY worse,
@Chief Keef Tell his dumbass😂😂
imagine putting sweat and tears in something that kills u at 50
I have so much respect for these guys just for being honest alone. For example: So many actors who put on 15 kg of muscle in a few weeks claiming it's all natural is just pathetic. They are lying in the faces of the people who know, and they mislead people who don't know and will get frustrated because they don't achieve the same naturally.
I've put on 10kg of Muscle in 6weeks but I was underweight at 21years old. It honestly depends where you start from I believe, It'll prob slow down for me quite a bit but that's okay, i just wanna look good not look like this lol
@@Near2Future if you're natural, no shot you put on 10 kg of muscles. Not saying you didnt put on a lot of muscle but most likely, a lot of the weight is water weight and some fat. Especially if you went up 10 kg in 6 weeks.
@@rogermartinez2263 Well, I'd say my arm & chest doubled in size. I did put on a little fat but not much still at 9% body fat
@Harris Zubair It wasn't mostly fat. If it was my fat% would be alot higher. Around 15% instead of the 9% it is now. I've got 60kg of LBM & weigh total of 65kg. I've never trained before, this was my noobie gains. I'm also 22 so i've got avantages.
looking at you dwayne johnson
all these steroids for doing quarter reps.
Srikant Mehra forreal 💀💀
Srikant Mehra You can get away with half/quarter reps when on gear because you only need the tension.
Daniel Welch Tell that to every bodybuilding coach, they tell all clients to only half rep for constant tension.
Half repping can be useful. It has it’s place.
@@reggierexx1885 personally I like the 1/32 rep
At least he's honest about it unlike other people claims to be natty but sadly most actors and Social media influencers are all on that stuff its hard to be natural cause mostly it takes years patient and dedication its unmotivating when theirs no results
This is just stupid. I remember I asked a guy who chewed tobacco "Why do you do something that's going to probably kill you faster?" He looked at me and said, "Because we're stupid". That's the most honest answer I've ever heard. Same for people who take steroids.
Damn, their sacrificing their health and life for a few years of prime fitness. I wish them well.
Their body their choice 😂😂
Can’t even say they are “fit”. Overall, body builders like him are not fit overall. They have muscle strength for sure but their hearts and cardio must be awful and that is where true fitness comes from .. heart health.
"Prime fitness" needs to be defined first. Do you mean the guy that can lift the most weight? It's not this guy. Do you mean th guy that can run the fastest? It's not this guy. Do you mean the guy that looks really good? Yeah, it might be this guy, but that metric has very little to do with overall fitness.
@@parliecharker4316 for a guy on gear he looks above average, nothing crazy, respectable physique but not anywhere near a actual body builder, seen natty guys who look better, but it’s his life he’s a grown man he can do what he wants
I'm no doctor but think it's ironic when you abuse testosterone as a man and your testicles shrink.
There’s a problem in our culture when our healthiest “perceived” physique is actually the unhealthiest.
The entire comment section understands this is unhealthy
@@wavey_b0ne People who lift and know about gaining muscle know it’s unhealthy, but the majority of other people think these guys are just naturally beasts working harder than everyone and get a lot of admiration for it
Drinking alcohol, smoking and eating like shit is more unhealthy.
@@kevinnickel7529 you’d be surprised. Some of the guys on heavy gear die of multiple organ failure in their 20’s/30’s/40’s. Way too young.
The problem is usually attributed to using multiple compounds, street drugs like cocaine or amphetamines and the big one is guys adding insulin into their regimen. Insulin is probably the single most dangerous thing they use..also oral compounds like anadrol, and dbol are extremely liver toxic..but in reality injectable test by itself is pretty safe. Im not saying stuff like tren is safe by any means, but I'd rather take 300ml of test than drink a six pack of mountain dew and a big mac.
respect to this dude, hope he's doing well now.
"When you're competing" That's the thing, neither one of these guys are competing. At least they are not claiming to be "fitness" influencers.
"Who wakes up in the morning and cooks food, has a steady schedule, work regular hours AND works out?" A lot of healthy people my guy lol
I do but that’s to run away from life and what it is amazing but boring
in dallas i new lotta mexicans who work 12 13 hour shifts go work out after the work out they go to the club and from the club straight to work lolol they tried to invite my ass i said FUCK THAT ill b smoking weed wit my bro at his house chillin
wiifii 5.0 ok
I work out 6 days a week, meal prep every weekend for the week and work 40 hours a week. I don’t continue to do it for aesthetic purposes. I do it because I enjoy it.
Shiki i this guy isn’t working 7 days a week, 10 hours a day and working out 4 hours a day. Quit being so fucking gullible. If he’s working out 4 hours a day, then he needs to find something better to do with his time because he looks like shit.
This guy sounds like he either can't breathe or he's going to start crying at any second...
TheMountainman14 Hope yeah that’s only one of the many side effects of juicing. Just listen to how hard of a time he has breathing
TheMountainman14 Hope XD i was thinking the same thing
Think its cuz theyre working out but also could be hes too heavy and very unhealthy overall
His heart and circulatory system is not meant to support that amount of muscle mass. So his heart is working over time just to keep oxygen going through his system.
I'm not an expert or anything by any means, but I think there are just limitations based on your genes and dna. Some people have stronger cardio systems than others. Not sure if you could do cardio and increase the system, I would think it has its limitations. I think it really depends on the individual.
I’m on trt. I gotta admit it is probably the best feeling of all time no lie. It does not give you some weird “roid rage” but I guess I’m not at that level
1:35 "How many guys don't look good that take steroids?"
*I'm looking at three*
John Bush 😂😂😂😂
For real these guys are actually quite small for all the stuff they're taking
Dude said he could be a model or a male stripper LMAO he’d fucking have a heart attack on stage after 20 seconds.
True these guys must be on 5mg of Test or don’t know what tf they’re doing
Hahaha! You nailed it!
"Who wakes up every morning, meal preps, cooks all they're food, work a steady schedule and still goes to the gym?" A lot of people actually. He acts like he’s the only one lol
IKR! I do it every day without roids!
Right? 😄
The majority of people on this planet don’t work out though. All that stuff he mention takes effort and discipline.
Look at America’s obesity rate....
That’s takes determination... why u think people don’t like working out or dieting on the right foods? Cuz the expense, the time, the dedication, motivation and the effort it takes. Instead of fast food, having to take hours prepping. Putting ur body through pain, AND still having to go to work. People make excuses not to do these things. Or if they don’t see results in a week, they quit. It takes a lot of dedication, most Americans don’t have it.
I really respect these mens honesty. They know it's not good for them and they don't defend it as they know it's not for everyone.
The ear tuck tells you everything you need to know.
What does it say? Just curious
"It's opened up a whole new life for me, I could be a male stripper or a model."
Wow what opportunities

Welp, with these options I'll stay with my amateur'ish work out with many free time for friends and cute animals .-.
tbh being a model would be an actual life changing opportunity
@@catsdothemeow4018 the vast majority of models make below minimum wage and struggle to find contracts, you only see the glamorous ones who made it to the top, same with athletes, actors, singers, 99% of them make shitty wages and eventually quit to find a more "normal" job
@@inquisitive6786 uhm, most professional bodybuilders are actually very intelligent. he’s out of breath just by talking.....
it's his real beta nervousness leaking out.
Yeezy westy we got an alpha man here everyone
Most likely due to the high blood pressure, and amount of weight he has on his frame.
Its the weight. BOdy really cant tell the difference between fat and muscle. His organs are working hard to support him. Also low BF% has a lot of issues associated with it

He said he 100 percent would consider coming back on t after he have a family... but family isn't just a goal, u can't have them and be done with them, it's kinda sad to think about if he has kids and go back on t there's a possibility that his kids won't have father for long
Male body dysmorphia is real and should be talked about more in society.
These types are insecure asf. It’s usually the bodybuilders on gear that are hating on me in the gym, and I’m just a natural Muay Thai practitioner. They get mad when they see me on the heavy bag 🥊

+vlone_thug precisely....so many big guys do no cardio, it is ESSENTIAL to avoid an early heart attack
That heavy breathing … no matter what you say at the end of the day we all know steroids are an addiction and ppl need to understand nothing is more precious and bigger than your health. Health is wealth . We can do so much if we r healthy
I don’t think it’s the steroids making him out of breath he’s just big as hell
This is really a case study about the psychology of addiction. That it involves PED's is more of a "twist" than the main theme. These three guys have serious substance abuse problems.
He got a serious heavy breathing just by talking...
noticed the same, they also seem weirdly self-confident. When old age hits, these guys are going to have physical issues.
He was talking in between workouts that's why.
I am Alucard what physical issues?
Liver cancer, hearth problems, acne, breast development, even shrinkage of the penis ... and many more undiscovered probably. As he and the doctor mentions, there are many types of steroids and therefore many unspecified side-effects. All of that for the sake of looking like a blowfish? Weigh the cost/benefits yourself.
you must wanna take roids lol or considering it. so obvious

Right! I've been natural for years and look better than these guys.
Randomly searched this subject up and am now watching this at 7 AM myself wishing I could at least get into working out to begin with. Definitely not wanting to get into steroids like they do or wrestlers and football players do.
So much more respect for those who are natural!
Spending all his money on steroids, bashing his house walls, his mother worried sick, fucked up two serious relationships, rushing to the hospital every now and then. THIS GUY IS REALLY LIVING THE DREAM
Adriano Graca lol
Adriano Graca 😂😂😂😂. Love it fella,, Don’t mention the shrinking dick, 😱😱😱😱
he's a moron. I know many steroid users. actual competing bodybuilders with decent physiques. chillest fucking guys ever. yeah, tren can fuck with your mind but many stay away from it
The Bromosexual relevant info..
David Boulton steroids shrink the testis
He sounds like he's having a hard time breathing, he's like gasping for air.
Fringes I know
Fringes I've heard growth hormones cause a person's organs to grow. My guess is his lungs have grown, but his chest cavity hasn't. So his lungs are breathing against his ribs maybe. another thing could be the mass of his chest pushing on his lungs. both combined might be why he has a hard time breathing. anybody correct me if I'm wrong tho this is only an educated guess
Chris Dedeaux it's possiblde, but it's hard to tell without a complete medical checkup.
It's tren
Fringes the heavy breathing is a common side effect of tren.
