  • It's currently estimated there are around 60,000 steroid users in the UK. Unofficially - it's thought to be closer to a million.
Amidst a continually rising steroid culture, Men's Health UK explores what this could be mean for the average gym-goer, how (if at all) it could be prevented and the varying dangers of juicing.

Has it been established beyond doubt it was the roids that caused the liver damage? The orally taken ones are heavy on the liver, but intramuscular jabs not so much. More often than not casual gym goers take gear to get big, to show off at parties where alco and drugs such as amphetamine or cocaine are consumed in hectolitres.

Although I'm at 112kg reasonably lean (for a natty) and my strength is better than ever, you can't reach the granite hard look you get from steroids. The round full muscle bellies, the pumped look all day long, the extra strength, the recovery,...
For me it's insulting when the typical Test E/Deca beef head talks about his consistency and hard work being the main factor. Cut the bull man, I work out 5-6 days a week for years, my diet is on point and we ALL know that you wouldn't have reached those results without the steroids. If an older man has very little testosterone production left, and supplies his body with the amount he produced when he was 20 (100-200mg per week), there will be nothing but benefit and no side effects considering that he is just supplying what he was already producing naturally when he was younger.

This is almost never discussed. Our bodies are over 60 percent water. We need it to survive but if you drink too much you can get hyponatremia which is life threatening. Spinach is good for you….eat too much and you get kidney stones. Wine is full of antioxidants and a glass with dinner is healthy. Drink a bottle everyday and the effects on the body and mind are a thousand times worse than steroid abuse. There is a liquor store around every corner even though 400 people die every day in the USA from alcohol abuse. Alcohol is socially acceptable though. Sugar is socially acceptable as well and look how many people abuse it. Sugar abuse is way more detrimental to the body than steroid abuse is. Point is EVERYTHING in excess is bad for you. Key is moderation. Every time there is a documentary on the effects of steroids they interview people who abuse it and take multiple compounds at extremely high doses for long periods of time and never cycle. Id like to see some research done on people who take a moderate or even a higher than normal dose of just testosterone and cycle properly allowing the body to recover between cycles.

Push they’re bodies past what’s natural! The accountant they interviewed even said he didn’t feel like he belonged in the gym before he started using steroids. That is clearly a person who does not have a competitive nature, was never really athletic or lifted weights before he started taking steroids. You can't stop them. All you can do is educate them. I've taken a ton of steroids in my life. I'm 41 and in the best shape of my life. I'm not saying steroids are good for you, but I'm not necessarily saying they are bad. Take this into consideration... Testosterone is in your body already naturally. Things like caffeine and alcohol are completely foreign to our systems and are considered poisons. So which do you consider more safe? It's NONE of them. It's all in the amount of the drug consumed. 1 shot of testosterone wont hurt you but neither will a cup of coffee or beer, but 50 shots of testosterone in a short time or 50 cups of coffee or shots of whiskey will definitely not help your health. The mixing of steroids with hard drugs and designer PED's is what puts you at risk of developing health problems. I bet you can take 1,000,000 men and give them all 1 shot of test a week for years and they would be perfectly fine. Why that wouldn't work is because of all the addictive nature of our minds that tell us that if a little test is good then more must be even better. That's when you realize the addictive mind process has started and its damn near impossible to not also go out and buy some debol or tren to "Amp" up the little test you already started. Well hell. You might as well go buy some tranquilizers to help you fall asleep now and some amphemines to wake u up in the morning. Now lets not forget all the painkillers we need now because of over training, the not sleeping. Now does anybody out there understand where I'm going with this?

7:55 ish, *I’m a nurse and can confirm that the amount of air you could potentially get in a syringe to inject gear even if it goes into a vein will not cause issues. It takes the amount of air a main IV line can hold before it causes issues intravenously(the IV lines are that length for a reason), which is I believe about 30 ML. If it goes into an artery then yes a small amount of air can cause an air embolism, but unless you’re doing intramuscular injections in your neck near your corroded artery it would be very very hard to inject it into an artery.*

This stood out to me too. Hilarious that he says you need to be educated about these things, immediately after rabbiting a myth; demonstrating a complete lack of education on the matter 😂. Injecting an entire 2ml syringe of air into a vein won’t do anything.

Lots of men are low on Testosterone and would greatly benefit from using hormone injections (with professional medical management). The only problem in the UK with steroids is that they are illegal. End the ridiculous prohibitions.
If a woman can say "my body, my choice" then why can't a man have the same rights to manage his body the way he sees fit?

      1) That's not true. Testosterone therapy is available through your doctor.
      2) How dare the government tell people what medical treatments they are allowed to benefit from. Supporting preventing people from having life improving treatments is immoral and evil.

SMV4K.com Cuz we are men and let's be honest we are being attacked and battered, conscripted, etc by society forever it's an utter myth women have it any worse. For a start they can rely on soceity for a life by having a Child they can be kept by a man and everyone tells them how lucky they are. Try being a bloke we don't get a choice we work or fight and that's it. Wake up seriously being a man is not a benefit it's a life sentence of servitude while women get more choice in life and more paths. Now with equality it's almost laughable.
How I wish I cld stay at home and do the dishes look after the kids and gym most the day away.

I don't take steroids, but how many of these 60,000 /1,000,000 men are older or younger with naturally low testosterone?? Do we want men to have miserable lives?? Doctors in the UK don't want to give any men testosterone even it could change their lives for the better, most men would pay for the treatment just to become normal again. How many women get therapy for menopause?? Perhaps you should do a documentary for how many women get hormone therapy in the UK??

The best idea is to use steroids under doctor supervision and obtain your drugs legally from the Pharmacy/Chemist. This is possible in some countries but not in most. This should be a standard in most all countries throughout the west. Banning the use of these drugs in competitive sport should remain the same. Open discussion is important so people understand the risks and what they are getting into. Especially younger guys. There should be a minimum age for use and I would say that should be set at age 25. 25 years of age is when your testosterone levels begin to decline. For a 40+ year old man there should be NO restrictions on obtaining a testosterone prescription from a doctor. Men function so much better mentally and physically on a healthy level of testosterone. Once you hit the upper 40's your test production is very low and when this happens quality of life and drive starts to decline. There are some unicorn men who have no issues there but its very rare .

I have normally quite low test levels (when inactive) but when training normally in the gym, it raises the normal levels.
When I took ZMA caps before bed, that alone boosted my test so I reached my peak and even changed my behavior.
Even though it's just vitamins and minerals tho in a combo.
Having high test does mostly have positive effects - you feel good, calm, relaxed, faster recovery, get stronger but I wouldn't abuse it, not even overtraining because life usually comes back to balance which in turn promotes happiness.
