I love the way you narrate. I can feel your passion
Is this park somewhere in Sydney. If yes ease share the location info. Do you also provide classes in Sydney. I am interested in joining . Thanks
Hey man, I really get the point about how full ROM is important, but how do you explain deuanuis(an italian athlete) who keeps getting stronger in his "clean" form by training only using half-reps?
3:25 StRiPeR jk u r strong
When Daniel says "switch to an easier progression" and shows a progression that I can't even do for 1 rep
you will get there, just keep going
5 month old comment, how you getting on
I think he died trying
@@patrickbateman1132 probably xD
A channel called performance fitness and you can't do one pike pushup?
"drop the ego" thats the best and most needed thing to hear this year, I've always had the thought in my mind that if i keep testing my holds i will get stronger but thnx for giving me what i needed to hear all these years
Hmm, idk. Low reps are better for strength. (also short holds)
1. Practise hard moves before building strength.
2. Bad range of motion.
3. Using kipping and momentum.
4. Not using the eccentric.
5. Using too many exercises and changin the program too often
Thx
So do crossfit?
@raven's son sarcasm doesnt go well with youtube ;)
Thanks got this. This video is hella fluffed.
This is essential info.
Also, I wonder how often kids show up to the park and turn back around and leave cos the 'expressionless, well-groomed, muscly man' is training there again XD
Iâve never seen him there
More like the half naked muscly douche. Seriously. Whats the need to workout for 5 minutes, and then wonder around flexing, being loud, and shirtless.
why do you care? and why do you watch a clip of a topless guy? :)
LeXx0r because this guy atleast knows something, and we can agree that youtube fitness has a very high dependance on looks. And dont get it wrong. The muscly men didnt stop me from starting, and didnt keep me from continuing. But in public spaces, i think you should keep your shirt on. Seriously. The guys where i leave go topless even if its cold. Its evidently a vanity thing and the dudes are usually obnoxious as hell.
I agree with the first part of your answer and have diverging views on the second. He looks incredible which gives his statements credibility. Also he is one of the most consistent, knowledgeable and honest fitness youtubers, so kudos for that!
I see why the guys you refer to come across as douchy as they just want to show off... On the other hand I like the feeling of being 'free' and take my shirt of when it's warm enough and not weird. At home I also walk around topless, I'm just used to it, feels more natural to me.

Please, PLEASE start calisthenics with realistic expectations and easy progressions. I herniated a disc in my neck in August. I ignored it and tried to exercise normally, combined with bad sleep, overtraining and working too much, the herniation got so massive it was compressing my spinal cord. A "minor" injury turned into something that was disturbing my existence; it was destroying my energy levels, sleep and mood. Horrible constipation. Headaches. My whole right side was numb. Some nights I could not sleep because the pressure on my neck from the pillow. Some days I could barely walk.
The last 3 months have been spent focussed on recovering and realising I need to slow down. It is finally healing and I am functioning significantly better; I imagine I will be back to calisthenics in 4-5 weeks but when I do, I'll be starting with the utmost basic, stuff like wall pushups and EVERYTHING will be assisted.
This has been a learning experience for me; it has shown I need to care of myself, be patient. I have a truly unique appreciation for the human body and exercise; I lost 9 months of my life because of this. I am now looking forward to slowly sculpting my body.
haha thanks for the advice, I hope you recover completely and achieve your dream goals. :)
amatoxin hope you have a smooth recovery, and good luck
How did you know that you slipped your neck? Which exercises did it? Thanks.
Just discovered a herniated disc myself Thursday. I tried to convince myself that I was simply having soreness as a beginner. Definitely something that should be talked about more. Good luck in your recovery and hope you feel better soon!
Nice
500k madness....Definitely very well deserved for the amount of quality info you've put out over the years :)
Tom Merrick never forget all that time ago when you were following his body by rings program. Crazy how far you both have come!!
I just passed my certification exam for personal training and watching this makes me so happy! You go over some VERY important concepts that definitely have a serious need of being adressed in today's world. Also, please correct me if I'm wrong, but when working on pull-up and muscle-up skills to avoid the use of momentum, or kipping, one needs to first develope proper core stabilization in order to keep your form nice and controlled.
Your brutal honesty is HIGHLY APPRECIATED đŻđđŻ
This is just what I needed! I am starting my calisthenics journey and this really helps to understand where to start. No point jumping to the extreme and not building strength.
You got the best calisthenics channel, man. I love ur attitude to spreading the info.
You are rational. Calm. Highly experienced. Great example.
Take care, bro. Gratz on 500k
You and AthleanX are the only fitness advice on the internet I follow..
No ego, proper form, proper strength, low chance at injury!
Thanks so much Daniel, I feel that subconsciously I have been doing all of these techniques as I progress and become stronger. I'm 178cm and 73kg. I've had all these ideas about just bulking up and sacrificing lower body fat for increased muscle gain. The CZcams fitness industry so often misleads the masses and misinform (often for financial or social gain) in nasty ways. Your channel makes me happy, because there's someone out there who cares. You said "Lets face it, no one other than you truly cares about your results." I think you misinformed us, probably the only time ever, because I feel that you care about our results as well. You give good, honest, trustworthy advice about fitness. Long term mindset changes that benefits any person who coheres to the ideas they hear on this channel. My comment might not ever reach you, but I feel that I need to be thankful and make a point of it.
CONGRATULATIONS TO 500 000 SUBS DANIEL!!! ^_^
I am absolutely stoked I came across FitnessFAQs!!!!! one of my favorite youtube channels, thank you so much Micheal!!! There are so many other calisthenics channels that either don't cater to nubies or don't go into absolute detail, this channel does both of those things and more!
Wow no matter your level at calisthenics, you MUST watch this video. So much wisdom!
Thank you Daniel!!
From France
One of the best videos I have seen
Hey, just starting my fitness journey - so glad I found your content! Thanks for all the work you put in!

I am loving all ur videos! I jumped into weight training before I ever learned about form or body weight movements. Iâve been injured multiple times and recently understand that going back to the basics has truly improved my overall physique. Calisthenics are making its way into my workout routine more and more. My body has been thanking me
Daniel - we love your honesty, to the points, no bullshit/slacking approach - that is how a person should train and have a mind set of such to achieve greatness. Thank you.
Thank you Daniel for the HIGH quality of your videos and HONEST truth you are spreading.
Cheers for your 500k, wish you the best !
I feel like i needed to hear everything you said in this video. I'm always testing my strength instead of building it, and i need to stop that. Dropping the ego is very difficult for me.
really good video man. every calisthenics video is about super strength and not the base fundamentals. I learned a lot and appreciate it and subscribed.
Brilliant video bro,
Well informed and well explained!
Keep up the good work
Great vid as always. Love the new quality.
Also, half a million subs! You deserve another half. Cheers.
Congratulations Daniel for the videos you vw put week in and week out and for the passion and motivation you put into calisthenics.
I agree with you 100%. Ego lifting is one of the biggest obstacles to actual progress.
EVERY single word was detailed perfectly. Great channel!
Heck im early! Congrats on 500 000. Love the content! Keep it up.
Another great YT video Daniel! I really like the last months videos especially. Helping me get past the hardest points of specific exercises through your use of 'negatives' and other strength exercises has been super helpful!
Great video, I appreciate the info on the importance of eccentric movements. đđŒ Keep up the good work!
Been lifting weights mainly..and made some terrible mistakes just to get the weight up with bigger numbers. My mobility and form suffered big time. Now my joints ache.
Decided to go back to bodyweight training and bought 3 of Daniel's 4 programs. Just the absolute basics were challenging with good form. But the strength is slowly coming back. Thank you Daniel.
Programs were worth every penny.
Same as in practicing music... This is an important message
He's the only person that can be brutally honest in a kind way!đđŸ..good video by the way.
You are very honest.. the best videos so far I have seen.. thank you !
What a decent and humble man bravo đ keep going
Love the video and the point that doing more is not necessarily better or leading to progress. Keep it up! New sub
Thanks for making this Video super helpful! Keep up the awesome work!
You are so right with those ego's they hold themselves down and it even looks ridiculous. Being humble and honest is how to make progress. Always great video's, keep it up.
Excellent material.... Really great stuff man... Keep it coming
Great video, Vadnal. Well timed for my own training for sure. Bringing the focus back around to proficiency and not checking whether I'm ready for the next progression.
Your explanations are wicked my friend keep up the great work my gym is following your whole approach seriously keep it up!!!!!!!
Amazing video Daniel. Such solid advice. Really working on developing this mindset of dropping the ego for better form/lower progression if needed. I also started doing eccentrics with my 90 degree pushup training and I can now hold at the bottom, in the bent arm planche, for 5-8 seconds. They seriously are a game changer! Hope to have it in a few months at the rate Iâm progressing. Thank you for all the great infođ
True! The best information talked, great video Daniel!
When I started doing pull ups I was only able to do 2 pull ups, now 3 months later I can do 14 pull ups with good form and achieve the muscle up
I can only do like 3 at most so should i do 3 take a rest and do another 2 or 3? This is the only way I can do more than my max, by taking a small rest. How many should I aim to do daily? Like 20?
Mohamoud Mohamed get a resistance band, will help you get further ;)
Wow, great progress man!
I started at 0 literally, couldn't even pull myself up. Now, hardly a few months later when I got the pullup bar installed in my house, I can achieve 8-10 clean reps. No kipping, no half reps, pure clean reps. Now, when the gyms will reopen will add weight and try to increase my reps.
@@immersiveparadox how did you increase from 0 to 8 . please help me. I can't even do 1 . how can I start?
You never disappoint. Am trying to build strength.
I needed this video... I've been working out 2 months now and I got impatient with my workouts trying to do new things.
Time to go back to basics.
Love this. Great info, Daniel!
I must say thank you. This video is awesome. I needed it. Iâve been weight training for the past year and lost a lot of body fat. I never really enjoyed it but it was effective. I found out about calisthenics about two months ago and Iâve been pushing myself too hard and maybe doing one or two reps of a exercise. I really needed this âslap in the faceâ to wake me up and focus correctly.
Daniel could you please do a "My first year of Calisthenics" where you set out how to train on a weekly basis, the most important movements to master eg the pullup and how to get there from absolute beginner to intermediate.
If there are any other ancillary movements to build strength please include those also.
whoaa new achievements Daniel! 500.000 subscribes! congratulation bro!
Thanks for your video †Basics are definitely key
Thank you so much, I really appreciate what you do. I have no one to learn from and this gives some so much confidence to believe in what I do and in the process of progress, even if it sometimes doesn't feel like I'm advancing much. You are an inspiration! :D
Just starting my training, and I feel bad doing weak exercises at the gym. But thanks for your knowledge. Iâll stay home with my knee push-ups and workout for me. I really appreciate your video
Love the vid! Definitly going to check out more! Been doing calisthenics for almost a year now. Lost 50 pounds and gained quite some muscle. But being unable to progress is a common frustration so this vid is a big help!
Thanks a lot bro for your great advice!
Awesome video Daniel. As always. Much very good advice here. I have experienced the saam kinds of flaws in the past, so know exactly what you are referring too (with the exclusion of kipping.. SKIP THE KIP!).
Thanx for the material!
High quality content video once again. Keep it up!
Fantastic set of knowledge being passed on here, listen up folks this is pure gold.
Always always always a pleasure to watch Daniel!
Congrats on your half million subs!
I really love your ways of explaining things. I have been lifting for many many years, got "stronger", went from 45kg to 85 kilograms. But last year I injured my back lifting heavy. I took this time as a positive experience and started watching Ido Portal, Movement, Calisthenics, and Dr. Stuart Mcgill who is doing research on the spine...etc I completely left lifting weights and started movement and calisthenics. I could squat 170 kg, but can't touch my toes and do easy pistol squat. I could bench but can"t even do a pick push up. This injury was really an "kick in the butt". Thank you for your videos, taught with clarity and humility (i find), you would make a really good teacher!
Great advice! Thank you Daniel!
Your videos are awesome. One of a kind. One of the best.
Awesome video as always. Thank you.
Honest talk. Hell yeah! You finally learned how to do kipping pullups, congratz Daniel.
Well said! đđ Nice park setup too!
Another helpful and quality video. Tip #1 is a game changer for me. Taking my time with easier progressions isn't sexy but it helped me unlock the pistol squat and will apply it to muscle ups now.
one of the best fitness channels on youtube!
Dan u should do a video regarding how to fix muscle and strength imbalance!!!
Thankyou so much! I started doing 4 second reps and full range of motion and had to fall back to the very basic movements because it became so hard haha, but now I can feel that I'm doing things properly! Amazing video, great tips :D
Your best video yet, Daniel. Two thumbs up.
This is super video!!! Great job bro !!!!!
love the way you say "schtrength" and "schtrong"
love the way your head gets as read as a tomatoe when working out
love your videos
Great video bro totally true glad i found ths channel cheers
Awesome video as usual Daniel... thank you....
Great video man. I can definitely relate
Thank you my master for another awesome video!!!
Wow finding your channel is incredible, thank you so much
Great information! Thank you sir!
earned my sub, thanks for the real honest wisdom
I might be obsessed with fitness but this has to be the best informational youtuber out there.
Great video man
Thank you!!! I just started and these bits of info will help
Thanks for the video..Very Informative.
Agreed 100%! Made the same mistakes myself back in the day. Slow and steady is the way to go, and you'll get the results a lot faster if you patiently and consistently do that, than if you try and find "shortcuts" that don't exist and jump straight to a variation that's way too hard for you.
Love your content as always Daniel.đđđ
500k đȘđȘđđ
Congrats Daniel for 500k, you deserve more for that knowledge you share ;)
And where can we get these parallel bars ?
Bro that was a really great advise. Thanks alot.
The first video I watch of you and you are spot on brah....subbed-
Great video and perfect form .
Very good educational video! Really love your content!
Much appreciated advice overall! A little unclear however whether the push-up sequence at the end of the video is an example of changing exercises constantly or an example of mastering the push-up in all varieties/progressions before moving on to a harder skill such as the one-arm push-up.
Great point and motivation.
congratz on half a million subs bro! đ
Evkas Evkide tanki online :)
Great video. Glad I found your channel.
Congratulations Daniel you rock :D now you are half way from Cali Move keep the good work!!
that little park is so cool, I wish I there was one I could run to and from near my house. nice tips as well
