It's so unfortunate that Nvidia took what miners and scalpers did to the 30 series MSRP and baked it into the 40 series and killing the hype for a new generation. I'm happy for the people that have 4090 money to burn, but hard pass for me

I can't say that I'm interested in any GPU that's MSRP is over $800 USD. I can only manage about $900 USD after taxes and shipping for a GPU every 5-6 years. @@jamescunningham8092 It was confusing because turbo was the default for processors and pushing the turbo button actually turned off turbo and put it into a cutdown mode closer to an older spec cpu. But you had to reboot the PC for it take effect. The reasoning was that back in the day, older software actually could crash when running on a cpu clocked too high, so being able to throttle down the cpu allowed older programs to be compatible.

All those cards hit the voltage limit so buy an msrp model, just do your research on the fan noise in advance and avoid gainward cose a lot of ppl complain about the noise

@02:40 Here's another secret, you don't even need to overclock it. As it will boost higher thanks to nvidia boost tech. You're literally just paying for two letters, O and C. That TUF non-OC will even perform on par with the much more expensive ROG strix, with the strix you're paying for the looks

The prices of these things in AUS is fkng ridiculous. I run Quadro's for quite a while as i did more work then play on the PC but i was considering putting a GTX alongside a quadro so i could pay less and get more game performance then buying a higher end (and equally ridiculously priced) Quadro... well thats out the window now as the gaming cards are taking the spot of the Quadro line in price. I can only imagine what they are going to charge for the Ada Quadro's.

As a 2080ti owner, and spending $1,100 on that card in 2019. $1,200 on 4080 seemed fitting for a nice upgrade and the same money I was willing to pay. Plus, the power usage on the 4090 is a little much for me. I know everyone hates the 4080 because of the price, but I got a Tuf 4080 for $1,199.(It comes in 4 days, I am excited).

One of the side benefits would be eliminating that unsightly video power cable.

The TUF Gaming is by far my favorite 4090. I love the understated looks with just a touch of bling.
I don't think they even launched the base version on the TUF Gaming 4090 in Canada. For that matter I didn't see any of the ASUS cards in Canada, I know there were some though because they're now in their hands of scalpers asking 30% - 50% above MSRP. Thankfully they don't appear to be selling. I've seen MSI and Zotac 4090s pop into stock at retail AIB prices, and they don't last too long. I'm in no rush at all, and I'm hoping the AMD cards are in a large enough volume that they're more available. We need this shortage sh*t to end, there's no reason for it anymore. If there's a shortage it's, by design to keep prices high. Otherwise I expect we will see better pricing soon.

@Jesse M yeah I ended up getting an MSI Gaming X Trio, but then the SUPRIM came into stock so I bought that too... My Trio should be here next week, but I won't get the SUPRIM until a week or so later.
I'm hoping the TUF Gaming shows up before I have to keep one of these. Then I'll order it and take back both the MSI cards. The sucky part is I missed a drop of the TUF on Dec 14th 👎😕
If I have to keep one of the MSI cards... I'll probably keep the SUPRIM, I think it's just a better looking card, I don't know I'll have to see them in person and see which one runs better etc...

@Jesse MM So my Gaming X Trio arrived a few days ago and I've resisted opening the box so that I could return it after the Suprim arrived. However, I cancelled the Suprim today because I was able to get the TUF Gaming when it magically appeared in stock! It's supposed to be here on the 3rd of Jan, and I'm a happy guy. I'll head out to Best Buy and take back the Gaming X Trio and with my $1,300 in gift cards in hand I'll apply them to the ASUS TUF Gaming 4090 to ease the purchase price of it a bit.
I'm pumped though, it was the ASUS was the card I really wanted, & I didn't really feel any excitement getting either of the MSI cards. This one though I'm really looking forward to getting it into my rig and gaming. I might have to take a couple of days off work 😂

A reason 4080 is a nice choice, is if you only have 400-500 bucks to spend, and sell your current card to make up the rest so a 1200 to 1300 card is easier to buy then cheapest 4090s which are 2000 to 2100

We really need better Colorful support in the US. I have been watching them over the past couple GPU generations. They really overengineer their cards with better design. We just cannot get them here without going through a third part of a third party. Making returns in case of defects just a year long endeavor. Hoping to see this brand pick up its support here in the states. We really need another high quality option now that EVGA is out of the gpu game. Hopefully Colorful's costumer care is as good as their build quality, for which I have no experience with.

If the 4080 is $1200 I would not be surprised if they charge 1k for the 4070ti. But what will actually happen is AMD's 7900's will force them to lower the price of the 4080 so realistically I think the 4070 will end up in the $700-$800 range.
