Hey, great video! I just got one as well, and I was initially disappointed with the dictionary functionality -- specifically with romance languages that have more conjugated forms. I found a great solution though. With their newest firmware update, the built-in reader app allows you to set a 3rd party dictionary as the default. There's a great free one called 'Look Up - A Pop Up Dictionary' that has some great free options in Spanish. The 3rd party dictionary will open in a pop-up over the reader, so it's not disruptive.
hey, thanks! i did do that as well, but I haven't tried that dictionary yet, I will definitely try it out. i still am disappointed that it takes several clicks vs just highlighting and going, but it's definitely a good workaround!
oh that's so odd, i'll try the one you suggested. i set one as default and it did not come up first i still had to hit the dictionary button. On second thought I just don't think it set it to the default at all even tho it said it was... thanks for the info!
I think you did a very good job in giving an honest assessment of the Leaf. I'm glad that you were able to figure things out and get it set up in a way that works for you. Boox devices do require a person to not be inhibited by technology. I think the benefits of having an open system device like a Boox is way better than a closed system. Thanks for taking the time to review the device. I am curious if after a year you are still using and enjoying it?
@@philologus6577 yes! I got a kobo as a gift and I do reach for that more because it is easier to pocket or throw in a bag, but I still greatly enjoy the boox and am very glad to have it. Thanks!
For the kindle app, enable volume buttons as page turn buttons and make the page turn buttons work as volume buttons. Afterwards, the page turn animations will be very smooth
Saludos 👋
Hi, thanks for the review. I’ve been doing research for weeks on the leaf 2 ( white version I like so far) and have been wanting to order it but wasn’t sure since I’ve heard from others how fragile it is (I’m a bit of clumsy person 😓) and the mixed reviews I’ve heard as well about it overall. I was tossed between this and a kobo forma, but have been leaning a bit more towards the leaf 2 since i can have all the reading apps I need/ I’ll be mainly reading any how. But, thank you once more for you’re review, it helped me look at the leaf 2 from another perspective, that’s it’s not a perfect device but that’s okay because it’s not for everyone. However, I’m glad you like you’re leaf 2 and I think I’m gonna order it now since I feel a bit more confident about it ❤️❤️.
i haven’t really had any issues with speed. it takes a few seconds to open apps like any tablet, & then app speed may vary based on the app, but overall I find it really responsive so far. it definitely might change as it ages tho!
Awesome review! Just a quick question, would you know if this thing comes with a pen? Because I see a lot of people with the pen with it, but I didn't see you have one. Or at least would you know where to get one?
ok I bought it already several months ago and I love it! I recently downloaded some books, which I can't find anywhere else, on the Kobo site. I transferred the first book and I was able to read it all without problems a few days later I was leaving for a trip I tried to load the other books but the files are not read even if they were downloaded correctly. What can I do? Do you have a way? Where I went wrong is there a correct way? I already managed to do it once and it worked now with the same book already downloaded (which I deleted from boox to test) now it doesn't work anymore!!!😢 How did you download the Kindle and Kobo apps!!!???
Oh no! I hope you've figured it out, but I downloaded the apps by activating the Google Play store and downloading from there, here are the instructions I used (don't panic at the error message!) www.reddit.com/r/Onyx_Boox/comments/13fxabz/leaf_2_how_to_get_play_store_and_enable/
it does not have any pen/smart functionality, but “styluses” work - like the same kind of stylus that would work on a phone or any other kind of screen.

yes, I had the buttons enabled, the actual visuals glitched a little bit until I changed some settings tho!

Is the back of leaf 2 supposed to be flat? Mine is slightly rounded. Is it okay?
I wouldn’t say mine is 100% flat, but it’s not very rounded.
Hi! Can you sideload fonts?

Thank you 😊
Did you ever do a set up guide?
How did you make it so fast, i hear everyone complain its slow

it definitely doesn’t come with a pen. as far as I know, this model doesn’t work with any pen, I know their note models do?

Great review have you tried any PDF's on it? Apparently they have the best PDF software (so you can break the pages down into sections)...

yes! it seems to work the same plugged in as not
can you use a stylus with this e-reader ?

Several failure in the connector, is too tight , broken eventually

i wish they make the dictionaries better in 3.4. and fix the arabic language in engine v2 🥲
