  • The Onyx Boox Page is the latest device released from the company to replace the Leaf 2. it's faster and slightly heavier due to the larger battery.
    The Onyx Boox Page features a 7-inch E INK Carta 1200 display panel with a resolution of 1680×1264 with 300 PPI. The screen is flush with the bezel and protected by an AG glass flat cover lens. The colour scheme is piano black, with two manual page turn buttons on the right side. The back platting is plastic but has a neat design featuring little perforated book covers everywhere. The front-lit display and colour temperature system for reading day or night. The light produces both cool and warm lighting or a mixture of both. Slider bars in the quick settings menu allow you to blend the two lights together.
    Underneath the hood is a Qualcomm 2.0Ghz Octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. A MicroSD card slot has support for 1TB of extra storage. There is a speaker to listen to audiobooks, music or podcasts; there is also Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless earbuds or headphones. You can connect to the internet or browse the web, thanks to the WiFi (802.11b/g/n/ac) 2.4G + 5G chip. USB-C allows you to transfer content to your device or for charging. A microphone is available for voice communication apps, and a g-sensor will rotate it from portrait to landscape. This is perfect for left-handed people who want the page turn buttons. It is powered by a 2300 mAh battery, and its dimensions are 156 X 137 X 6.0mm, weighing 195g.
    It is running Google Android 11 and has full access to the Google Play Store. This is not an e-note but an e-reader; it replaces the Onyx Boox Leaf 2 but has better hardware specs. The Neoreader book reading app is excellent for people who have an extensive book collection, and it supports PDF, djvu, azw, azw3, doc, docm, docx, epub, fb2, fbz, html, mobi, odt, prc, rtf, sxw, trc, txt, chm, and ppt. If you don’t have a collection of books, you can download your favourite e-reading or manga app from Google Play and always keep them updated.

    What is the largest size of a microSD card can the Boox Page manage without glitches? Is it possible to mod the bootup animation? Import wallpapers or screensavers? Where can I find more "dare to dream" artist wallpapers?

    To be honest worth the price, size is slim, case is really nice (you can use it as stand in landscape mode, since the edges are not slippery much), light is smooth for reading at night. The built in reader is really adjustable (for me google translate was crucial, sets up in a few steps). The only minor thing to improve would be the speaker, since it's not super loud. Got it after watching many reviews and loving it!

    I know Boox doesn't claim the ability but considering the Play Store is a thing, could this be reasonable to use for note taking/journaling? Is there a stylus that could be used with it?

      I don't have this but I have an older onyx ereader and use Libby on it (I'm in the UK but I assume it's the same). The page looks almost exactly the same as mine in terms of UI so I think it would work with Libby.

    Not really an upgrade considering there's no sunken screen anymore. The Leaf 2 may be slow, but eh, I'm only using koreader anyway. The weight is also something I like about the leaf 2, sad to see it's going in another direction now

    • @oshiage_
      @oshiage_ Před 6 měsíci

      love my white leaf2 for its low weight. I also have the black one in my family which I don't mind, but I do prefer my gadgets as light as possible. The sunken screen isn't really a pro/con to me but I can live with it.

      @Spl4tt Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@oshiage_ Actually, the sunken screen is indeed clearer and even more paperlike than with the protective glass above it. I like it a lot more.

    • @YearNorth-io6yk
      @YearNorth-io6yk Před 7 měsíci

      I use the article mode under the "navigation" section to cut it into 4 pieces, and the experience is okay to me since the size of font looks normal on 7 inch screen after tailoring. Actually I think this is even as good as on a 10.3 inch ereader since you also need to cut two columns pdf into 4 pieces to get a normal font size for 10.3 inch ereader. The reflow never works nicely with academic papers because it can never format algorithm and math formulas nicely. So I just use the article mode.

  • @serhiirubets6630

    After 3 weeks of use, a dead pixel appeared on the screen.
    I tried to return it under warranty, but they said that the point was less than 0.5 and the device could not be replaced.
    I looked at reviews of other devices from Onyx, and many people encounter problems with dead pixels, but Onyx does not replace the device due to their “norm”
    Knowing before purchasing that dead pixels are the norm for Onyx, I would never have bought it.
    I do not recommend anyone to buy devices from Onyx

  • @fxaman
    @fxaman Před 10 měsíci

    Currently I simply can’t buy Onyx ereader. I wanted Leaf 2 white with indented screen but I hate the cheap case they are selling for it and I don’t want just 2GB of RAM. Page has magnetic case, which is great and more RAM, but no white version and indented screen. So both readers are compromises for me. Therefore I won’t buy any of them. Hopeful Page 2 will be better.

    • @YearNorth-io6yk

      I prefer flush screen over sunken screen but it is just personal preference. And it is the trend in China, where new released high-end ereader were all equipped flush screen.

    • @lutoph
      @lutoph Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@Shajirr_ Don’t disagree. But also paperwhite completely trivializes the oasis to the point where it wouldn’t shock me if they just kill it next year. The oasis can’t really compete in most cases even if it was updated given that it would just be the same specs with a more expensive price, so why would they bother?

    • @knotatraitor
      @knotatraitor Před měsícem +1

      @@lutoph The Paperwhite doesn't have physical buttons, though... Kind of a deal breaker, for me. I have the latest Oasis, from 2020, and I'm only looking for something that has faster interactions. Page turning is OK, but the rest is so slow... This Boox Page looks like it might be much better/faster.
