Everyone I see on booktube seems to think the only ereaders are Kindles. Thanks for giving other alternative choices some love. I have had a Kobo since 2017 and upgraded to a Kobo Libra 2 last year. I love it and find it very user friendly. In Canada, it links to my library so seamlessly. I will admit to having a Kindle Basic for books which are not available on Kobo but those are very few. I use the Kindle about 10 % as much as the Kobo. I am definitely in the pro Kobo camp. Happy ereading!

same! I know I said I couldn’t pick a favorite, but realistically it’s kobo. it’s just so good. I wish more people would try them out!

I use a Kindle Fire for my e-reading. I got one as my first tablet before I had a smartphone, and then got a new one when it got cumbersome to use. Now I'm actually back to using my original one because the newer one died. I don't need a tablet for anything other than reading at this point, so I've been thinking about getting an e-ink reader of some kind when my original Fire decides to stop working eventually. I assumed I would get some kind of Kindle (even though I didn't really want to) because change is hard and so is researching something like this, but your videos and people's thoughts on the Minimmersion Discord will probably change that. I still have time to do some research because my old Fire is still chugging along. (The Ipad mini screen reader function is an interesting addition to throw into the thought process.)

The e-ink screen is really great, I didn’t really buy that it would make that much of a difference until I tried it lol, but there are definitely advantages to tablets… especially when you already have one 😆 The kobo is a pretty seamless switch from kindle unless you already own quite a few kindle books.

Once you read from e ink you won’t want to go back to backlighting in Fire/iPad. I have a Kindle PW and Boox Palma and love them both.

I'm looking at getting a kobo for just library books as the ones I like to read are expensive on my kindle paperwhite. My mum says I don't need a not e-reader, but I do use borrowbox on my ipad mini 6 but the glare on the screen is so hard to read sometimes. I'm just thinking of getting kobo nia just for library books as I'm UK but everyone seems to slate that one as being a bad one to get. What do you think please? I'm just thinking of the price of it on Amazon prime at the moment.

I have definitely seen mixed reviews on the nia, so I’m not sure! They do usually go on sale when kindles do, though, so maybe for prime day you could get a better price? Good luck!

Thank you. Might wait for prime day then and see how much the Clare 2e goes down for. @@joreneereads

I think the exclusive listing is only 90 days. I have used on spare droid, and put kindle & kobo app & others and use only for ereading, gps, and can turn screen to grayscale only to simulate b&w like ereader.

It is the full time your book is on KU, the enrollment period for a book is simply 90 days (which auto renews) - if you want to sell elsewhere you have to unenroll and remove your ebook from KU. You can sell physical and audiobooks elsewhere, but being on KU as an author is inherently exclusive (I don’t know whether authors with publishers can get better deals or not, but it doesn’t seem like it.)
