- Quick video showing how I modified my 1999 BMW F650 to have adjustable height rear suspension. You will need a welder to do it this way. Let me know if you have any better ideas or know of a longer shock that could be used. Thanks! `

Amazing, I'm 6'7" so this will definitely come in handy!
Good stuff, I'm gonna try something similar on my 99 funduro. Thanks for posting.
Sid C cool man ! Let me know what you end up coming up with and how it works out! Thanks for commenting!
Just bought this bike today , subbed for this vid ,Im 6'2 also so thanks
Nathan Bush awesome man! I have no doubt you'll fall in love with her! Thanks so much for the subscribe! And shoot me a message on here if you ever have any questions about the bike or and idea for a video that would help you out. Thanks
Brilliant idea. I may try this.
Nice work!!
Thanks for posting this!
loomspace no problem man! thanks for watching it and hopefully it gave you some insight and ideas
Hi ! You are amazing ! But i have a question please !
Does it any geometry changes , in special the rear braking ?
Thanks a lot
Perfect
Thinking about doing this - i dont access to a welder, could i do it with extension plates and if so, how exactly? Thanks in advance
Honestly I'm not sure about the other ways of doing it. Getting yourself a cheap welder and doing it this way I think is the easiest option
hi.once i do a similar thing in a yamaha xt600 i had,but i make a peace that fits in the original place and than the fork fit's on it.So that doesn't include welding. The moto was very high than the original, but i don't know if it's from the geometry or something else, but after doing that i was not able to fit the air filter. That is aluminion right ?
Michel Chambel that's cool. I used to have a 1983 XT550, and I loved it! this is steel not aluminum. thanks for watching and thank you for your comment! :)
How was the front after lifting the rear? Didnt you find it weird handling from the front being low compared to back? I guess you re adjusted the headlight?
Honestly I was a little worried about that but I didn't notice any change at all. Felt good to me. And yes adjusted the headlight
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Another option for those who dont have access to a welder is to use a Dakar shock up to 07. Its a bit longer which equates to about 40mm increased travel. But you lose the quick adjustment feature.
What tipe of monoshock is this? Dakar? You have a link?
Why didn't you just add extension plates to either side the bottom of the shock mount ?
I used the same method on my xl600r and I liked how it came out. I don't know, this is just the way my head thought up to do it. And I also like that it's very easily adjustable from positions. My xl600r has a pin that's spring loaded and you can adjust it on the Fly without any tools
But good question
lol
So, what is the increase of ground clearence?
Денис К 2"
NoNonsenseKnowHow not bad, going to try this too.
NoNonsenseKnowHow one more question, please. What is the length of the stock absorber? Tnk u.
Денис К honestly I don't remember off hand and didn't write any notes. I didn't say in the video?
How often did you do valve checks? Trying to decide if every 6k is really necessary or if 12 or 15k is ok
Honestly I only checked mine twice in the entire ownership of the bike. They were never out of spec for me. I think checking them every 12,000 miles is a good number. Or definitely check them if you ever happen to have running issues / tapping
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow ok, thanks!
@@roamingeagle no problem man! Good luck with your bike, they're amazing bikes! I ended up selling mine. Still kind of regret it though
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow thanks man! Its an Awesome bike, but i want more suspension because i ride it like a dirt bike, and i shouldn't, but i just can't stop. I swear - one last question- issues with chain roller / chain slack with the added ground clearance? I found out i can throw a gs dakar shock on to get ~1.5" more suspension travel and ride height, but am concerned with the chain and sidestand. Last question, sorry. I also threw on 1995 xr250r forks with air preload, so now i have 11" or front travel. How could this possibly go wrong. 😁😝
@@roamingeagle no problem man. I added an aftermarket chain roller. But no the slack was not an issue for me. And that's cool that you put XR 250 Forks on there. They bolted right up? I guess same diameter tubes?
Why did you sell the bike?
I always wanted to get an F-800GS and finally got one. I actually did a video about why I was selling the f-650 comparing it to my f800. However about a year ago I got the Africa twin 1000 and I absolutely love it. Sold the 800
Merika
Probably could of just made new dogbones to raise it up been alot easier
👍👍👍👍👍👍..................😜😜😜..........
Clever use of fork boots....do you happen to remember what type/model of bike these were made for?
Wouldn’t it not been better to just buy a larger shock??
Yeah. But I didn't want to spend much money. Or any money for that matter LOL
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow I am thinking to buy this model. Do u know what shock a can buy for it, or from what other model
Great bike to buy for sure. Not sure if you saw my other review video. But can't go wrong with one of these. Unfortunately no I'm not sure what other shocks would fit this
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow ty brother. I heard a ktm super moto inverted front end fits on it.
No problem man. And yeah that sounds like a pretty good upgrade if it fits
