      I've an eGenius 700 tuned and flippin love it! Can go places I couldn't before with the (excellent) Shimano motor taking the sting outta the climbs so I can enjoy the rest without being in 'recovery mode' after a big climb. And for people saying its cheating and too easy - you should see my HR readings in Strava. FAR from easy - I'm just going much faster and further. :D

      No need to defend. First of all 9mph on single track is respectable. Then add the elevation. And for a first test you tried all of the modes? Maybe ECO the first time around ;-)@@ScottyLaughland

    I have a hybrid tourer with 300Wh battery but I ride with the assistance OFF on the flat and downhill. I use ECO virtually all other times with very rare use of TOUR, SPORT and TURBO and my accumulated range on a single charge is 90+ miles. However it is pretty flat where I live and I ride purely for exercise as I am suffering heart failure and spinal degradation plus I am 70 years of age. The motor is purely to help me if I struggle; it's my safety net if you like. If I were to use my old bike I simply like would nor dare not overdo it or get too far away from home. If it weren't for ebikes I doubt I would still be cycling, well not as I used to.

    Well Scotty, I'm just into my second week of ownership. I've done 5 rides and covered 100 miles. Battery consumption is averaging out at 25 miles before red light comes on and longest ride 30 miles. I was surprised at how easy it is to ride given the 52 LB weight. Lifting over gates and walls is a lot easier than I expected but that's probably because I'm buzzing all the time I'm in the saddle. Down hill she's like a missile only contained by my 57 year old brain. Thanks for the fantastic videos without which I'd still be scratching my bald head wondering.... I am absolutely in seventh heaven. Oh and now I've sussed out how to both create eBike Routes on Strava and find pre ridden routes in my area 'Life is Stava Sweet' n Just loving all these KOM's that keep popping up both up hill and down..... Not too shabby for "An Old Bloke just trying to keep fit and not kill himself in the process" as it says on my Stava Profile.
    Any time you fancy a day out around the Rochdale hills and tracks give me a shout. Theres room for an overnighter at ours if you fancy it. My next Big Ride has to be the 'Marry Towneley Loop' Once I've saved enough up for a spare battery as its a good 50+ miles.
    Well here's looking forward to your next instalment. All the best Raymondo.

    @AleksandarGospic Před 5 lety +1

    Got my 2019 Scott eRide 920 almost 3 months ago, so for those who are interested in battery life here's my experience so far. I never ride in Boost mode, that's too much assistance for my liking, I'm usually in middle Trail mode and sometimes in Eco, when I want to put more effort in and save the battery. Battery indicator has 5 bars, it usually goes 15-16km per bar, which is around 10 miles. If there isn't too much climbing I can easily do 70km per battery. In vertical meters one bar usually gets me around 120m of ascent. And I'm quite heavy, close too 100kg. Lighter people should be able to get at least 10km or even more. Because it's winter I didn't have a chance to properly test it in the mountains on more demanding climbs, so this is based on regular roads and not too steep fire roads experience. I'm curious to see if warmer temperatures in spring will give me more range, but for real XC rides I'll have to get extra battery in spring. I'm not happy to put that weight in my backpack but 1 battery is just not enough for the long rides I like to do. I hope battery technology will improve in not too distant future. If they will be able to squeeze 700-1000Wh in this same battery housing, so that you can use it in this generation of bikes that would be awesome. If they change battery housing design with every new advancement, today's bikes will quickly become obsolete, and they are too expensive to become obsolete so soon. I can't give this much money for ebike every few years, hope Shimano thought of that when they were designing this battery pack

      @megane230f1 Před 5 lety

      Aleksandar Gospić this is why i bought a focus jam 2 with added tec pack, 756 wh early last year, It is a bike that i have rode a 100 miles and still had power left on the tec pack battery, E bike manufacturers are making great looking bikes, But running well short on giving there bikes 700wh upwards of power, Nearly a year on after i bought my bike manufacturers of other e bikes are still building high priced bikes that are short on power, i think focus got it right first time round, it is both aesthetically pleasing to look at my e bike and fantastic for longer rides, Is still running long after 504wh bikes have packed up and run out ouf power.

    • @AleksandarGospic
      @AleksandarGospic Před 5 lety

      Yeah, that's a clever solution by Focus, but it was out of my budget. I don't know why other manufacturers don't use the same concept. Still I'd like if that was 2 500Wh batteries instead of 378Wh. But 100 miles is impressive, I don't know how that is possible even with 756Wh, you must be very light?! Ebikes are great but batteries are the frustrating part definitely, it's annoying

    • @megane230f1
      @megane230f1 Před 5 lety

      Aleksandar Gospić it is a bike that is easy enough also to ride switched off, i do think e bike manufacturers are holding back on longer travel batteries, and yeah im 74kg

      @megane230f1 Před 5 lety

      i rode 40 miles other day on my focus, on 378 wh, still had a bar left on it when i got back, In extreme riding cases i take the tec pack, For some strange reason i am getting a lot more miles out of my tec pack than the battery in the bike

    • @AleksandarGospic
      @AleksandarGospic Před 5 lety

      With my bosch I can easily get 40kms or 800-1200 meters of elevation out of a 500 battery, but with my heavy maxxis dhf's and dd/dh casing it's at least 25% less, thinking of buying a second battery for long trail days 👍😂

  • @danytheunicorn95
    @danytheunicorn95 Před 5 lety

    Rider weight, motor and terrain are so important when it comes to battery range. Since I am a little bit shy from 70 kilos and I love pedaling uphill my battery always seems to outlast me, so I am super happy about my ebike being so efficient and lasting so long. I have never managed to fully drain a battery but I calculate it has around 4 hours of use or around 100-150km depending on many factors but. These things just keep getting better each year but if you really love pedaling for more than 4 hours I advice getting a bigger battery than 500 watts. There are 620-720 watt options in some ebikes or you could just carry another battery but then again, I doubt you will be able to run out of battery that easily if you are a lightweight. My bike is a Haibike Sduro LT 6.0 with a Yamaha SE motor btw. And I love enduro, so I climb pretty steep terrain and descend it.

    Hi Scotty, Can't quite believe you hustled all 23 off KGs down those gnarly Dunkled single tracks. Well done. Having ridden in the Hermitage I can see lots of laps on such an e bike and lots of scope to improve downhill. I have these questions: 1. Do you know if the battery in the bike is susceptible to more rapid depletion in cold conditions, much like camera and mobile phone batteries seem to diminish more rapidly ? Have you found that to be the case in the first 6-8 months ? 2. I note you put it in trail mode for descending. Can it be switched to off for descending to save battery juice ?

    I was trying some other ebike with 500wh. I made 80km in mountains .Mostly on eco mode. I was charging twice in bars when was eating. I weight little over 100kg. I think that it is possible to run all day with new egenius with range extender. It is 1125wh. If you can quick charge on a break I think it is possible to spend all day with 625wh on eco and getting some boost on really steep climbs.

It could have 200m of climbing or 2000m. It could have been an hours ride or 4hours.
