Pretty much, as it was already shown that Vader doesn't care for the lives of imperials given how in The Force Unleashed he gave Starkiller permission to kill them while also letting him destroy an entire Star Destroyer manufacturing shipyard.

Anakin basically damned the entire galaxy in a desperate attempt to save his wife. It's hard to imagine what lengths he'd go to in order to save his son.

Even as a Sith Lord, there was a bit of Annakin left in Vader, the part that would fight his way out from the darkness too save the family he thought he lost.
I think finding out about Luke is what brought Anakin back out.
I mean, the emperror wanted luke alive as well to turn him to the dark side so was that really a sign of the good side of vader coming back or just making sure that palpatines wishes are fullfilled
@@aditomasik5933 At this point in the series Vader was very well aware that Palpatine was attempting to replace him. I think he planned to convince Luke to join him and overthrow the emperor similarly to TESB.
To be honest, I saw it more as using the darkness to protect his son as he kills the commander. Anakin is in the dark side but his humanity still lingers and would use it to protect his child.

Eh.. his motives were not necessarily that they were family and therefore luke shouldn't die... it was more of they were family so luke would have inherited the strong connection to the force and therefore could be a very valuable asset to him in taking over the galaxy.

Luke had the potential in the force his father had before his “barbecue accident”, so he might have let Vader to his own, knowing full well he’d protect his son, in hopes of replacing him with Luke.

The master knows that they need to keep training their apprentice who will one day destroy them, and the apprentice knows that should they not prove themselves worthy, they will get replaced and killed without hesitation, and if they ever replace their master, it is their obligation to look for a successor who will one day kill them as well.
@@madambutterfly1997 actually no. Palpatine was so sure he still had Vader under his finger, he missed all the signs of his impending betrayal. As soon as Vader found out his kid was alive and well, and that the Emperor lied, he was already starting to slip from the emperor's grasp.
Vader doing everything in his power to save his son and unknowingly, his daughter from death is just incredible (even if he did torture her, and cut off Luke’s hand lol)

To be fair, losing one's hand in the Star Wars universe, or any limb for that matter, doesn't really matter, considering how advanced prosthetics are in that universe. Heck, Vader is living proof of that, losing all four of his limbs and still being able to walk around, fight, and kill people.
I kind of like how low key Anakin is actually kind of a good dad once he finds out Luke is his son, really pulling strings and working behind the scenes to make sure that Luke is safe

So the best way to survive being an Imperial Officer is to neither be Too Incompetent or Too competent. In other words stay average and just avoid success or failure
also apply to real life.If you work too competent, likely people around you be jealous of you and then company throwing more work on you without more incentives.going too far with the extra miles sometimes hurt you more than it benefit you, but also you cannot be too incompetent to get fired.

Really recontextualizes the whole dynamic in Episode V. Vader wasn’t trying to get revenge for the destruction of the Death Star - he’s always been emotional and acting mostly in self-interest. His primary concern was always Luke in the movie.
Hence why he tried to get Luke to join him
This story shows vader is a true father. He wants to keep his son safe
The only thing vader still cared for about his former self was his wife Padme. Luke was all he had left of her.

I just realized that how much of a wild card anakin is, both when he was a jedi and when he was a darth.
The empire is just having a lot of problem with darth vader, just like when the jedi council had a problem with anakin.

Well, he was supposed to bring balance, it wasn't convenient for either side to have him as an ally for a long time, he could only put them in advantage to a certain extent, but not exceed it

Let it never be said that Darth Vader didn't care about his son.
The irony here, and it's very artistically worked into this story, is that Vader is like Kanchar to so many families that have lost loved ones who fought against the Empire. The emotions he feels in needing to protect his son is felt by him in the same way it's been felt by all manner of beings across the galaxy, Anakin is just so far gone that he doesn't possess the empathy to see others like himself, he feels he is completely alone in his suffering and can't acknowledge that he's the one causing all of it for everyone.
Those dad instincts took over without him even realizing.
I still love the fact that it was Boba Fett who told Vader about the existence of Luke. The dead silence followed by the viewing window Vader was staring through slowly starting to crack as he clenched his fists was as tense as any movie scene I've ever watched.
I love how Vader is sometimes, very rarely, an antihero. I wish a Vader series could portray him as being an antihero but he doesn't realize it, like how he destroys any chance for Palpatine to replace him many times. That saves the lives of some force sensitives in the galaxy.
In a rather dark way, its quite moving how vader protects his son. Despite his character, many fathers wouldve probably done the same thing.
I feel like Vader was a bridge between two worlds in StarWars, one of the only things that is agreed between legends and canon. He also with a few choices changed everything

I never realised that Vader truly had a connection and love towards Luke, even if it was a selfish motive. Maybe this is why Luke refused to kill his father, because, somehow, Luke new.

The thing about it is is that royal family did more damage to the rebel alliance than any other royal family and not to mention they almost sabotage the whole rebel alliance.

You'd think after a while there would be a mutiny against these commanders who kill their own troops and officers so happily. Like not doing it against Vader I get, dudes a space wizard as far as the average trooper knows, but like against regular ass commanders I'd think they would get tired off being executed so regularly.
Take a look at a real life example of an officer who frequently killed his own men, often for the slightest of reasons -- German Field Marshal Ferdinand Schorner. He had thousands of his own men court martialed and executed, right up to the very end of the Second World War in Europe.
