I'd love to see a video on what to prep and prepare during the summer! I'm starting my first year of teaching, (as a 1st grade teacher!), this August and could use some tips! Thanks! ☺

  • @TeacherInspirationStation

This method makes life easier. I have my students just put their work in the "finished work bin" but then I end up having to sort their work. This method saves so much time! "Hot mess express"...LOL! Thanks for this! ☺️

Hey! I finished my first year teaching firsties this past year. I AM very excited to start this procedure next year! This will save me SO much time... not having to file papers myself! I've also been struggling with, 1. the best way to handle UNfinished work. You know you always have those kiddos who are distracted or work a little slower. 2. What to do with papers that you've checked and need to reteach or have them try again? Thank you for your videos! They are life savers!

I am ready to implement this system right away! Thanks for all of the phenomenal ideas that you share with us!! Currently I have a crate like this and it is entitled Our Work Portfolio. I have been using this only to collect a variety of work samples. However, I would like to move over into the way you use the crate. How often do you empty the finished work bin? Do you change it out every quarter? Do you send most of the work home at the end of the quarter and keep a few for documentation? Since you are the binder queen, do you place the work that you would like to keep in plastic sleeves and place them in each student’s binder?

LOVE all your ideas and this procedure! I teach 3rd and managing the paperwork is always a struggle. I'm concerned about the amount of work that is done and having to sort through by subject, but like having it all in one place. Any suggestions? Also, I could use ideas for unfinished work and make up work/absent work. My county levels students and I teach on level and low level together. Therefore, my kids are consistently pulled for ESOL, speech, OT, RTI/EIP support. It makes keeping up with their work a real struggle. I'm grateful for any advice you may have. Love your videos! You are such a blessing and I have learned much from you! Thanks so much!

Great idea! No more sorting by name. Do you have mailboxes that are used to send papers home? I thought I remembered these from a tour video? I love your series! I’ve been teaching awhile now, but it’s wonderful to get new ideas. Thank you for sharing! ❤️ and hugs!!

    • @OneFABTeacher

Those mailboxes are used for their take-home items and homework folders. So any papers that I need to pass out to them go in their mailboxes. Thess file folders are just for their finished work for me to check. THANK you so much for always being supportive. ((HUGS))

One FAB Teacher I meant to add in my previous comment, I really like how this cuts back on the unidentifiable papers when kids forget to write their names on their paper. This past year I was using a tray for finished work and it seemed there was always at least two papers with no name. In many cases, I was unable to identify which paper belonged to which student because the assignments involved little to no writing (multiple choice). This approach would really cut back on -if not eliminate- that problem. Take care!

  • @alisgravenilx0

I love love love your videos! Thanks for sharing all your tips. Do your students ever grade their own paper with you and then take them home? Also, how do you manage when multiple kids are done and want to put their work away? I can imagine my students trying to race to the crate first! Thanks! Blessings!

    • @OneFABTeacher

Sometimes...They've graded spelling test. I just teach the procedure of how there shouldn't be many people turning in work at the same time. I also STRESS how I could care less about who is done first. Once you teach the procedure through and smoothly it shouldn't be an issue. ((HUGS))

I love you Miss May. I have a daycare ( even though I have a daycare, I teach the children their colors, numbers, ABC's, etc so those who havn't been to school yet, for those who are already in school, we do home work and work on their age/ grade level)and I have some of your techniques, like for example ; bucket fillers, (I love bucket fillers)I have the storage bins for the crayons & pencils, we have a "post office"( it's like your mailboxes in your classroom, with the child's name on them) I place all their homework from their school in there for their parents, any work they do with me, newsletters from me, & anything that's going home gose in their mailbox " Special Delivery" 🙂📝📬. I have " Reading Rainbow" library, Word of the day with word girl( yes, word girl from pbs kids For the kids that are in school ) For the the ones who are not in school I have Martha Speaks.( She's also from PBS kids) I use CLIP art for my bulletin board with the
    word,
    how to pronounce it,
the description ( noun, verb, adjective etc.)
And I use it in a complete sentence.
The little babies I do ABC's, colors, I read to them, I pick up the skills their parents have already started with them at home ( if any) Even though they cannot talk yet they still are learning.
Miss, May you are awesome. Thank you for being you! 🙂😃
😘 You have inspired me so much.
