SCP 923 is a satellite that includes a large, parabolic dish constructed of unknown alloys. SCP923 is capable of firing a beam down to anywhere on the Earth and the effects are quite dangerous, to say the least.

I like it sometimes when dangerous anomalies are classified as safe while harmless and even beneficial anomalies are classified as Keter, this show what the object classification is truly about how containable it is instead of how dangerous it is. That's what the color coded threat level is for.
Well there is also some that are falsely labeled with the label being it's containment.
I think some articles have added Danger classifications to make that clear as well.

not sure about different object's displacement and and spacetime(?) distortions, but I've heard the US Military came up with a directed weapon that uses bone induction to put words seemingly into a targets head at a distance... maybe it's possible to vibrate specific brain areas at resonant frequencies to induce particular mental states, such as amygdala resonance to induce a fear response, or even the visual area to induce hallucinations, such as of things moving around the room...

This is one of the most intriguing and scary SCP Stories I've ever seen. Things like this could give you paranoia. Well done Dr. Bob, keep it coming.
Especially when you consider the 05 Council is actively keeping this thing hidden and not wanting it to know it was never built by the Foundation. In a way, it is almost a mercy.

If the minimum intensity started at 26%, that means it was used extensively before that. Obviously this satellite came from an alternate Universe, where the SCP Foundation constructed it to deal with an XK-event and used it at an intensity level which caused reality-warping so extensive it sent the satellite to a parallel Universe.
It "terminated" 57 objectives before testing could begin.

That's actually a really good theory
My theory was that the Foundation used a type of anti-meme on it's construction, so that GOIs wouldn't try to hack into it's system and governments can't learn about it since it is a really powerful weapon. But then something went wrong, and the foundation itself forgot that they constructed it at the first place.
This SCP is one of the most fascinating and yet terrifying of any I've heard of. Yes, SCP 682 and 173 will kill you instantly, but this one makes YOU do the killing. Bravo to the creator, and to Dr. Bob for your excellent video describing it. 👍

The story from the beginning reminds me of the psychic drone event for the game Rimworld, an ancient machine somewhere whispers into the mind of humans and animals. Higher intensity drones tend to cause people and animals to go insane, as the whispers turn to screaming causing massive mood debuffs, it can challenging to deal with, and can cause your colony to become a bloodbath as people fly into a murderous rage, or just fall into a catatonic state.
not only are the effects similar to that of the drone in game, and some of the mental breaks that accompany it, but the ridiculous damage to individuals who fought each other also keeps in line with Rimworlds sometimes questionable damage system where squirrels can kill people in power armor. I wonder if Rimworld was a bit of an inspiration for this SCP.
SCP - 923 means its one of the older SCPs, depending on just how old it could be the other way round. Maybe the Psychic Drone event in Rimworld was inspired by SCP -923.
There is another similar story from one of the first Sandman comic series, where a man with boosted psychic powers took over an isolated cafe and tormented its residents for his amusement...
@Bo Ngoh It seems little town cafes are the ultimate hotspot for horror, the supernatural and absolute lunacy. I′ve seen multiple horror media and even a full-blown painting showing a small-town cafe with horror or supernatural elements.

This is similar to SCP-2820. A death ray piloted by an AI that kills its target by manipulating the environment and causing death through a series of coincidences.

In the first scene i thought for a sec that it was a graphic for some commercial. The entire video is very well animated and really impressive combined with the narration your videos are wonderfully immersive and interesting. Love your work!

I watch most of Dr Bob's videos, and I just wanted to say that the narration and animation on this one stood out for me.
Little details like the negative words "Smacking" into the back of the Job Seekers head were great for emphasis.

Out of all the SCP channels there are Dr.Bob has to be my favorite your art style the music the explanation it takes effort unlike the other channels with basically stick figures it takes effort to do what you do that’s why I love your explanations
I'm wondering if Dr Bob IS an SCP. He's unaffected by almost all of them and can basically tame or stave off other ones
He fired the Satellit, only O5 can this. Its unlikely hes an 05, because he spreads information. He is probably an extremly powerful SCP. Probably one of the strongest, because he doesnt get noticed, even tho he does stuff like that etc.
The going theory is that he's on the O5 council, and his job is to head the anomalous training department, like Dr. Pierre Chang on "Lost".
Food for thought: We've tested on the strength, effects and radius of the beam, but have we tested if we can interfere with the beam itself? If we can somehow manage to affix a mirror right in front of the blaster and ensure the mirror's reflective surface always faces away from Earth, and if the beam _can_ be redirected like normal light rays, then it'd effectively be contained as the beam will always reflect off into space and will never hit Earth unless the mirror detatches. And hell, if it hits an alien planet, who cares! It's not Earth.

Beam goes through walls and other materials perhaps they can see if the beam's effective range fluctuates with material(s) in the way of the beam.
If it is found that beam is absorbable by materials, it would be possible to nullify affected areas as well as stop a end of the world scenario from acourring.
Of course the beam might be capable of going through everything and the point of impact is always the subject's body(possibly head since termination has acourred via maddness).

Interesting the foundation can’t even come up with stuff like a simple self defense system without risking a anomalous copy from simply popping into reality and doing possible harm
I have noticed your animation has improved substantially and I love it. Fantastic work Doctor Bob.
But I must admit: the idea of a killer satellite that:
-Kills on Command by the 05 Council
-Was cancelled at one point but is somehow in orbit (Splinter timeline perhaps)
-Has a nasty case of Splash Damage that progressively grows in radius and intensity in accordance to the laser.
-A Death Ray that doesn't kill on contact, but instills hysteria, paranoia, fear and excessive rage
-And resulted in an entire site being locked off and is among the 7.5K satellites in orbit.
All of this is True Chaos
At least we can trust the 05 Council to make sure this thing doesn't show it's true colors

This is one of those SCPs that aren't too far from happening in reality. Now it's one of my favorite SCPs. I commend Dr. Bob's commentary as well, as another commenter noted, your tonality reading your dialogue is on point. 💯

I just typed in random numbers on google to find different SCPs, and I happened to type in 652 and I instantly fell in love with it.

Love how so many scps are basically just a normal day for me….I’m schizophrenic and this symptoms are quite common minus displacement and cuts. Voices, paranoia, sudden extreme aggression. Got it all baby! Don’t recommend it.
