    I did this on my 2013 RS4. Worked exactly as you said. Sounds so much better and sounds like a V8 should....all the time. But not insulting and still quiet when cruising on highway. No code or warning lamp has lit up on the dash either. Much better than other options I read about too, like unplugging the rubber tubes by the exhaust and blocking them up with a screw or golf tee etc. Much easier to quickly flick back to normal as well, when the wife wants to take it. Absolutely recommended for anyone wanting to unleash the beast of your RS V8!

      Did you ever get any codes, is this okay to do? What happens if you get codes?

    Yep just did it on my 2011 RS5 Hardtop. You cant miss it when you flip up the boot lining.
    Great Mod and now it sounds amazing without having to be in Dynamic mode all the time.
    Thanks again for sharing

    I did this mod, exhaust sounds deep and throaty at all times!

    This is the best way to keep the valves open. It will result in a fault code (open circuit for the exhaust valve actuator) which automatically clears when you reconnect the plug.

    Just perfect. My flaps were stock in cloesed mod so i had to open them with a tool. But the car kept closing them everytime. Now the problem is solved and the car sounds so much nicer.

    You're the man! I was looking for a solution that would allow me to keep the exhaust valves open in Comfort mode on my 2013 RS5 and disconnecting that wire harness did just the trick!

    Am i right in thinking that if you disconnect this cable when the flaps are shut, they stay shut? So i need to make sure it's in dynamic and they're open before removal of cable?

    Does this only apply to non US models ? How would i manually keep the valves open prior to starting ? Going into accessory mode, putting it in dynamic, and then starting it ?

    I just bought a 2011 S5 and it apparently does not have drive select so I can’t put in dynamic mode. Do you know if this hack can be done on Audi’s without Audi drive select?

    • @mguytv
      @mguytv  Před 5 lety

      The RS5 wasn’t my favourite, the RS4 Cab was a better drive actually. C63 was a better car than the RS5...

    Hi simon! I’m looking to do with with my 2011 RS5. Have you had any error codes or other issues from keeping the valves constantly open with this method?
    Thanks!

    If i leave that disconnected permanently will i start getting dash warning lights coming on because of it eventually?

    • @mguytv
      @mguytv  Před 5 lety

      Unlikely as the valve is beyond any sensor in the exhaust system - but cannot guarantee...

  • @SlowRollCrawlin

    After i did this i noticed every once in a while my RS would have trouble staying cranked. It would start up then die 3 seconds later.. almost like it wasn't getting enough backpressure

    • @mguytv
      @mguytv  Před 6 lety +3

      Wow, that's interesting - didn't have any issue like that with mine. In fact, even with the cable connected, the valves would often be open at start (from the last shutdown) and THEN close after start... I guess it's an easy fix, just plug it back in again!

    Thats wrong ! After a while you get a failure message in the FIS. "Exhaust system failure" i tried like this on my TT RS as well later on my RS 5.
    You have to remove the vacuum pipe from this valve and closed the pipe with a screw that works. Or what i did later. I installed a remote system from Hella. And then i had the controll to open close the valve as i liked. Checked my videos

    • @mguytv

      a late reply here as well... But your experience may vary because I never got an error code after removing the valve plug on my b8.5 RS5.

  • @muckman5509
    @muckman5509 Před 4 lety

    Only reason I don’t recommend this is that it will throw a code and Audi’s do not like codes.

    • @mguytv

      It actually didn’t on my RS5, but YMMV...
