I'm 76 and straight as an arrow....But....everytime I hear this song (and I listen to it often) tears come to my eyes...the lyrics, melody, and his voice make this song beautiful and taught me you can never stop learning about what's truly real

He is definitely years before his time and is as talented a musician as he is a song writer. He is surrounded by uber talented musicians. We've seen him twice and will continue to follow him and his band forever more. Keep it going Tyler!!!

My 32 yr. old daughter-in-law was dying of a brain tumor, I sent this song to my Son. It is a very beautiful song and i'm not sure I made him more sad. I just hope he someday get's past his sorrow.

Imagine writing such a good love song that you have someone propose to their loved one while you perform it. Now imagine that being at the grand ole opry. The most renowned venue in all of country music. I’m not sure how Tyler didn’t cry. I did. ^^
He should have been invited to play there a long time ago. I feel like the oprey is not held to the same standard it once was. Pretty sure jelly roll performed there before Childers like wtf? That’s just my opinion tho.

Tyler Childers, from the first song I ever heard you sing, I was amazed. I have never heard someone sing who can reach me vocally, lyrically and musically all at the same time. Pure Appalachia in your voice. You take me home when you sing.

I am not a fan of traditional country music, but I could listen to Tyler all day long. I just love that cry in his voice and his songs are so heartfelt and real.

@@sandyjuntunen4088 Ummm...yeah, that's why it surprises me that I actually like him, though I don't recall many that have the cry in their voice to that degree and who write and sing with the kind of passion he does. I do like Jason Isbell a lot, too, and I'd kind of put them in the same boat together. Both great storytellers, great lyricists who sing them with a lot of conviction. Some call it traditional country (including Tyler) and others have sectioned them off into the Americana category. Jason has won 9 Americana awards, to date, and zero CMAs. Tyler has won 1 Americana award (which he denigrated, but still accepted) and zero CMAs.
@@kindking8009 Actually, Tyler has won 2. His album Hounds won for best Americana album. Which is amusing since again, he shuns the label.
@@leslyb So he still shuns it even after winning 2 awards? Personally, I think it's good to have more types of awards. Country music has gotten too crowded and it gives more artists a chance of actually winning something instead of being squeezed out by the same megastars who win every year. What's he wanting, a CMA or a Grammy? Or does he even care about awards, he just wants to be known as a country artist?
@@kindking8009 I think it is more that he wants to be acknowledged as a country music artist and that pop country stars don't own the genre. By relegating him (and other artists) to Americana, the industry is saying traditional country isn't actually country music.

Love is love and love will always win. It can come with some troubles but it will always prevail. Songs like this reach people’s hearts bc we all want this type of love. He’s speaking to everyone who’s been thru heartbreak, who’s loved and lost, while at the same time he’s saying he will stand his ground for whatever may come. Powerful lyrics.

I remember the first time I saw him, it was here in Corpus years back. Never heard of him before then but when I say I was blown away at the way he could sing would honestly be an understatement. It was after that night that I knew I was witnessing a talent that the world hadn’t seen yet. As soon as I left I added every album he’s made lol. When he released this song I said, I never thought he could top his other songs and sure enough he did.

Tyler paints the most beautiful masterpieces with words. There was one other person in the 60s who never really made it cause he loved us wife so much he wrote a suicide note in a the way of song recorded it, went out and did it. His name was Jimmy Donnelly. Some of his music is now starting to show up on the internet ( Born to be a loser) in fact that is how found Tyler.
He sings that song so perfectly- the beauty of it just exudes from him.
