- Flush coolant/antifreeze from your engine and radiator. Easy. Use your garden hose to create pressure and flush engine as well as radiator - forwards and backwards. Keep your radiator, heater core, and engine clean. Flushing your coolant is good for the cooling system to prevent rust and to stop your car from overheating.

I love old Toyota content because everyone else assumes it is common knowledge. Thank you the step by step. I just subscribed ❤
Toyotas just keep going man! :)
I have a 94 Corolla and just watched 4 radiator videos. This was the best one, including scotty Kilner. You clearly know what you are doing plus you did a masterful job at getting clear close up video shots of the procedure. I subscribed with pleasure.😃😃👍👍
Thanks Robb! :)
Today I've changed the coolant of my toyota ae101 myself. It went extremely smooth and easy. Honestly this video helped me alot..again thanks for the upload and for the information.
Cheers, Alam.
Good for you! Glad it helped. :)

Best video ever!!!!!!!
This is the best comment today!! 😉
Pleae do more videos like head gaskets and more overhaul content please
Hi, thanks a lot for your video, it's clear, helpfull and nicelly edited.
Could you tell me if it's necessarry to take off the thermostat during the flushing if we don't plan to change it ?
Best.
Nicolas, you can do it without removing it, but the flow is much better without it. If you keep it in you have to keep the engine temperature high so the thermostat stays open. I prefer it out. :)
@@Pen_Pusher did you use a brand new thermostat to replace the old one?
@@Centennialantennavision No, I put the old one back, since it was still in good shape. :)
Does this flush the heater core also
Which engine is that? my 1.8 vvti has the thermostat under the alternator on the lower radiator hose. Good video, thanks.
Hi Jove, this car has been sold. I know it was not a vvti, as you noted.
It's a 4EFE engine
There is a 14mm drain plug the for the engine block to the left if the oil filter. Directly below cylinder 1
Thank you Adam!
You don’t have take plastic out you can do so from top
I deleted my heater core and have a U hose at the engine side next to the thermostat sensor. If I wanted to do a flush like you displayed do I need to remove the thermostat sensor? or can I leave it in place while I flush the pipes?
I have also done that before. Later I reversed it and installed a new heater core. That is a big job! Anyway, you can flush with the thermostat in place, but make sure it is open so you can have good flow.
so to empty the overflow tank i need to remove it or there is also a drain plug?? i have the e11 european model, the bug-eye
I removed mine to clean it inside out, but you don't have to. One of the easy ways to empty it is with a turkey baster - just suck up all the fluid and remove it.
What is the refill method to make sure you get all the air out of the system? No one seems to cover that.
Here it is: czcams.com/video/pupAltgfhaI/video.html
Let say we take the thermostat out, then when we flush the coolant in the engine, will some coolant get out thru the hole of the thermostat ?
No, because it has a rubber seal. :)
What with water in heater ?. I've Toyota Avensis 4a-fe engine. I need to flush whole cooling system and replace whole coolant. I saw in my car that the heater is behind the engine bulkhead. It is lower than coolant hoses. There is no possibility to drain out at gravity. Have Sb some idea ?
Yes, the heater core is not in the engine bay, but you can drain it by using gravity. Here is a link to draining your heater core: czcams.com/video/FpCF1jTA0F8/video.html
@@Pen_Pusher How I can do that ? I told You heater i lower than coolant hoses. Gravity works downward, not upward
@@jezjezowsk4309 Did you watch the video I linked?
I understood now. It is not possible to drain it by using gravity. You must flush with water and add new coolant, but the water is pressurized, the coolant is not. How can I put new coolant inside?
@@jezjezowsk4309 When you watch that video you will see the place where the tubes from the heater core comes through the firewall into the engine bay. Once you have flushed the heater core you remove the clear hoses from the Heater core tubes. Then all will drain by gravity. Those protruding tubes are at the bottom of the heater core and will drain with gravity. After you have drained it you reconnect your normal hoses and fill with new coolant. Here is a link how to do that: czcams.com/video/vc9IZv3aqu0/video.html
what about the heater core?
It is a good idea to flush the heater core. Here is a link to that video: czcams.com/video/FpCF1jTA0F8/video.html
thats a blower I guess, not vacuum
Actually, it is a vacuum, but using its blowing rather than sucking function. 😉
Not in a proper way. Here is the link to the heater core flush: czcams.com/video/FpCF1jTA0F8/video.html
U crazy throwing that water in there.. it gotta be distilled water
This is not F1 racing. This car is more than 20 years old... :)
@@Pen_Pusher yeah seriously... he's just flushing it. no big deal
@@anthonywendt5834 My water is really bad...incredibly hard water. My grandfather apparently rigged the wash bay hose off the water softener before water heater. Otherwise, I hook up to the hot water.
Decent video tho. The title should say thermostat change or removal as well. Thx Pen-Pusher
Very good video Thank you
You're welcome! :)
