Great vid man. I used it as a reference because I had to do the razerblade to remove the silicon. Dropped a good 30° with no load! Now I'm not hitting 100° on full load at 4.2Ghz but am running 4.4Ghz and peaking at 66°. Mind I did a 4790K
Edit: Also wanted to mention this was my first delid as well. Was quite terrifying tbh.

I'm Brazilian and thanks for the tips, especially heating (± 60°) the i7-4790K. This makes it very easy to remove the metal from the CPU. Thanks.

awesome tutorial pal liked and subbed also a quick question is the i7 7700k setup like this bonded with glue or is it solder as i have an old one laying around.. I stopped using the cpu for this exact reason was getting way too hot just would like to know if this method works with the cpu i have :)

Hey you still need to add thermal paste to the top of the IHS where it makes contact with the CPU Cooler 👍🏽

Of course you do, I did do that and said it too, I just didn't video all of the process. You can see the paste at 19:35 - after I have installed the cooler brackets when I mount the cooler properly. If I hadn't re-pasted the cooler then it would have still throttled, the first time I offered up the cooler was just to test fit and ensure the IHS was centered correctly with the copper plate. 😎

Nvm I rewatched it and you did, just missed it lol

In hindsight, I should have probably included that in the video! Haha.
I just noticed how long it was so tried to condense it when editing. Got a bit overzealous possibly.
      Thanks,

Great vid man. But I've heard that the TDP of a cpu doesn't necessarily mean that it should be performing at that wattage and its more related to heat dissipation. Could you possibly clear up on that since I'm having the same issue with the same cpu not going above 41W usage at 100% load (yes its also having temp issues)

I got a 4790k and a SMD capacitor is chipped off at the LGA area. lucky me, it is still there with the pads. I do not know the capacitance of that cap. If possible can you measure and let me know the value. Thanks.

You should use an a lot better thermal paste And re glue the ihs to the CHIP for gettin the 60c max them that is the normal max themp of
that processor. Until 8th Gen intel Processor they behavior its a lot diferent from the IHS all the 7th gen an Below

It’s insane (well not really) how badly Intel fucked up the launch and refresh of Haswell chips, it still is a pretty solid platform but it was absolutely soiled from the start and even 10 years on by its horrendous thermals all in the name of cheaping out and saving a buck/R&D time by not finding a way to keep those dies soldered. To compare, an OC’ed Q9650 from 2008 that also runs hot totally curbstomps any *stock* 4th gen i7 in the thermals department!! LMAO
