In this video we take a look at a purchase I recently made on Facebook Marketplace of a "U Systems Home Server" for £50. This turned out to actually be a complete network/data rack cabinet with the contents included. The seller did not really know what it was and just wanted the space and this out of the way. The cabinet is a nice steel unit on castor wheels with locking doors and sides. They k...

In this video I show the repair process for a Shure PGX2 wireless SM58 handheld microphone transmitter with power issues. This involves complete disassembly and soldering a replacement mute / power switch to the main board. It's a relatively easy repair if you have reasonable soldering tools and experience. If not I would suggest finding somebody who does to complete the soldering step to avoid...

      Yes the price has gone up quite a lot since I purchased mine. It is probably the only item I have ever purchased in recent years to be worth more now than when I bought it. The mixing console alone these days is around £2600 GBP then The AR2412 is around £1300, Plus the flight case and such on top. It is kinda crazy. I actually want to buy an SQ6 and GX4816 but that is a whole other level of expense and money I don't have available at the moment. Those are about £3600 and £4000 respectively.

    Hi Nathan. I've had a pair of these mini LED moving head lights for many years, set as master-slave on sound activation (Srun). Having just seen your very interesting video I've now adjusted them differently (added rPan & rTil). Though I really want to adjust or modify the sensitivity so the music doesn't need to be as loud. I've added another amplifier wired to a pair of speakers in the roof cavity immediately above the master unit. Whilst I can clearly hear them inside the house through the Gyprock ceiling, the lights still don't trigger, even with the volume turned to max. I'm now thinking of experimenting with placing a speaker directly on top of the master, or cutting a vent hole through the ceiling, or possibly even rebating the base of the unit into the ceiling... Is there a way to make more sensitive? And do you know where the microphone is? (as I could relocate it into the ceiling by the speakers). I thought an advantage of a second amp would be that regardless of music volume (in the house), the lights would effectively have their own sensitivity via the second amp (as it gets it signal from the preamp RCA connection) Thanks, Brad

    • @bradc4892
      @bradc4892 Před 2 měsíci

      Update; I've dismantled my 'master' moving head and found there's a tiny electret microphone soldered to a PCB... but within the main casing, not externally mounted as expected. Of course this would be sheltered from sound, so I have de-soldered it and will get a larger electret plus about 1m of shielded cable tomorrow. I'll wire it so the mic can be situated in the roof cavity by the triggering speakers. Hopefully this will remedy my issue. If not, I'll need to purchase moving heads with a sensitivity adjustment.

    • @NathanPH
      @NathanPH Před 2 měsíci

      Indeed! As mentioned in the video and stated in the description this is intended mostly as a interim measure than anything. Like I said I have had it last sometimes for years in the past after adjustment, and other times just a few months. It lets you find out exactly what model laser is in the unit though and gets out of trouble while a replacement is put on order for future/when needed. 😎

    • @donkeytits1
      @donkeytits1 Před 2 měsíci

      @@NathanPH You don't really say that by raising the current is the cause of the reduced life though. You should also have a scope on the RF pin to make sure the eye is at the right level. Also, you fail to mention that laser power is the last thing you should adjust. Focus and tracking adjustments are much more likely to drift

    Awesome job! I appreciate that you went through it totally from start to finish instead of others doing you start here then 30 seconds later it's all apart. I got 4 of these speakers and only tested 3 but all have tweeter problems. Break out the meter and hope that's all with them. Well, out of the 4, 2 of them had the tweeter missing entirely and the other two did fail on the meter. I got them out easy enough. One trick I used this morning was with the black gunk on the screws, I hit them with a hot air gun for about 5 seconds at 200 degrees and pushed the phillips screwdriver in and came right out with no need for scraping. Once the screw is out, you can keep hitting it with the hot air gun and it'll curl right up and easy to come off.

    • @NathanPH
      @NathanPH Před 4 dny

      I had never considered that approach with the hot air. Great idea which I think I'll have to try out sometime. My only concern would be if the plastic was deformed as a result of the heat but in a short spell you'd get away with it I'd imagine. Glad to be of assistance though! --Nathan
