This game is all about buckets - Bill Russell famously said in an Uncle Drew commercial. But before a bucket, there usually comes the pass. With sincere apologies to Oscar Robertson who we never saw play, to Mark Jackson who had over 10 000 assists in his career, and to Chris Paul who still is a Point God. Here are our picks for top five passers in NBA history, in no particular order

Who do you think the GOAT passer is?
Magic Johnson
LeBron
Me
Bron

John Stockton looks more like British Alternative-Rock Band lead singer than a NBA Basketball player.
But still, 15K assists, 3K steals, only miss 22 games in his entire 19 years career, that's record that never be broken.
@@chriswolf1089 uh lbj needs a other 1k steels and 6k more assists I don't see it happening
@@SaberFate Lebron fans think he'll end up with 50k points 20 k assists 20k rebounds 10k steals 10k blocks
@@chriswolf1089 Lebron is not catching him in any category. No one is. Stocktons records will never be broken.
very underrated player
@@hennylo68 Thank you for talking some sense. LBJ needs 5,782 more assists to tie Stockton. That's well over half the amount her currently has. That's cute of LBJ worshipers think he's going to do that.
Honorable mention: Rajon Rondo
what about jason williams
@@imnotverysmart2864 jason williams was flashy. But he was ineffective af. When magic traded him for bibby they became scary good.
only in his early career
He's a good passer but not one of the greatest ever. During his time in the Celtics he collected a lot of meaningless, ultraconservative assists which didn't really make too much of an impact in the game. Especially if you compare him to guys like Magic, Nash, Lebron and Kidd. I'm not too crazy about Stockton passing ability either. He was a very good passer but the I think the quantity of assists overshadows his passing quality, which was pretty conservative as well.
I’d actually swap lebron out for rondo. Rondo’s definitely one of the top 5. He might be the best tbh.
"He's not MJ He's LJ"
Both are different but both are greats

@@hristijandimitrovski8664 That sounds like you never saw him play, he was a legendary passer definitely top 10 as far as all-time passers go.
@@luke7277 i watched him, he is amazing passer, but maybe not in top 5
Hristijan Dimitrovski Bird is not only top 5 or10, he's second behind Magic, regardless of rebounding totals. Another great passer was Maravich.
@@madguitrst I don't think so, for me Larry isn't close with Magic when you talk about assists and yeah, for me Jason Kidd is better passer than Bird.
Thanks for giving Stockton credit where credit is due. Drives me crazy when he doesn't get the respect he deserves.
Its because he wasn't flashy. He is probably the best pure pg to ever play. I only liked kidd better. Payton and Chris Paul also.
@@jasonhendricks8587 Flashy is relative. I'd say 15,806 assists and 3,265 steals is pretty damn flashy. He's the true point guard GOAT.
Absolutely no one will catch Stockton’s all time assists and steals numbers. He doesn’t get the respect cause he played in a small market, he was stoic, partly cause he’s white, he didn’t do commercials, and the sports media just didn’t like him much. But he was a great guy. I’d much rather have him as a teammate than some selfish flashy player.
John Stockton was a "computer"...

Steve Nash looked and, in a lot of ways, still looks totally like a Red Hot Chili Pepper.

I know they mention magic, so that era is already covered, but Larry bird deserves to be on this list aswell
Another great video!
At this point Jokic might deserve to be here… the passes he’s been doing at the Center position are incredible.
Nah, he tops the list already. Only reason these guys are above him is because they did it for longer
@@cyruswang9354Bro has never heard of Magic 💀💀

No Larry Bird on the list?
He gave him a honerable mention
Can you make a Top 10 best passers in NBA history? I'm curious who you would put in the other five spots!
Thank you nash is so underrated
Where is Pete Maravich? He should share #1 place in every list along with Magic. Why is this so called "basketball android" so criminally underrated? He was an once in a lifetime player and he was pretty much perfect!
Agree. Glaring omission…as well as Jason Williams.
They didnt put Oscar Robertson on here either, or Bird (if they had, we would have heard a few unathletic white guy and looks like ....... (something derogatory) comments)

Ricky Rubio, isiah thomas at Boston, underrated passers
Honorable mention
rajon rondo ( i think so )
Larry bird
Pistol pete
Jason williams
Isiah Thomas?
The guy who started fancy passing was Bob Cousy. He was about 6'1 but had long arms and huge hands. He was key in the championships of the first half of Bill Russell's career with the Boston Celtics. Top ten ever because of influence and winning.
Lenny Wilkens, Guy Rodgers, Norm Van Lier and Tiny Archibald all deserve a mention as well.
Where’s Pistol Pete?
Nvr rlly saw him
Good question. I was thinking the same thing. He was "magic" before Magic Johnson became famous.
Love that story about Stockton, accompanied by his own suburban dad home video, where the Dream Teams bus is stopped in Barcelona. Crowded by fans. They can’t get to the stadium. Stockton goes, “well I’ll be seeing you boys.” Proceeds to get off the bus and walk nonchalantly through the crowds. No one noticing him at all. Much less hounding him for autographs. He stops a random women wearing a Dream Team shirt with his video camera going and his kids in tow. “Who’s your favorite player?” He asks. Pointing at her shirt. His kid goes, “that’s my daddy.” Pointing at Stockton on her shirt. “Oh,” the woman says, “Are you on the team?” She politely asks. Clearly thinking they put towel boys on the Dream Team shirt for some reason. Lol.
Okay. thats just disrespect man. These stories sound so impossible every time I hear them.
Where’s Pistol Pete???
Magic Man Smiling, Making no look passes Clowning !!!!!! BIG up Magic!!!!!
I agree with everything on this list
Magic and Birds court vision and passing were second to none. Bird was a small forward so he doesnt have the numbers but only Magic was better than him. The rest on your list are still excellent and good picks.
Was gonna say. It gets forgotten because he was no Magic, but Bird was also a gifted passer; similar passing vision as LeBron.
Ummm John Stockton says hi.
Hey buddies, whoever your picks are it's worthy watching some top passes by Jason Williams - wanna call him, who I've been dumb enough to miss out till today, GOAT of back-hand passes. Big thanks to every one mentioning him here.
Pete Maravich deserves to be on this list
No, he's beyond silly lists.

Top 5 passers in my opinion Magic, Nash, Stockton, Kidd and Rondo.

Hakeem

Bill Russell is better at defense than them.
I miss Steve Nash lol

I Like this
Nice cook ever delicious food good bless all
He says Magic isn't a good shooter and then we see him also brick a shot so badly that it hit the backboard from mid- range. Still, a lot of respect for Magic. Obviously the greatest passer of all time.
Whenever Magic wanted to score he scored. Usually with power moves down low. One time Magic scored on a last second hook shot to win a championship. While being double teamed. Against the Celtics of course.
He is 6ft 9 and was a good hook shooter.
Magic became a better shooter as his career went on. And he was always a scorer. If he didn't want to pass, he could easily have averaged 5 points more than he did. But that's not the best way to run an offense. Magic was a few years younger than Bird too, so his MVP's came later in decade.
If your going to mention Magic as a great passer, Larry has to be in the same conversation cause he can pass as well as Magic
No disrespect but you’re wrong
@@tntcrewEJ how am I wrong? Larry Bird is one of the few players to throw a no look pass and he's able to pass the ball simply by tapping it off his hands. He's not known for passing cause that's not his role but he can. Not to mention he's incredibly court and peripheral vision.

magic johnson GOAT passer in nba history
How exactly? Since Stockton played in the league
I just named my top five on my channel. We agree on three. I have a few old school guys. You are more contemporary.
Top 10
Tim Duncan should’ve been in there, he was one of the sharpest passers of all time especially for a big man
I love timmy, but he wasnt a stand out passer like magic, stockton, kidd or bron

1-Magic
2-Stockton
3-Kidd
4-Nash
5-Jackson
6-Robertson
7-Cp3
8-James
9-Williams
10-Thomas
An all time passing list without The Pistol proves to Me how much you Know about Basketball.
Bird was a greater passer than either Stockton or Nash imo. Like Lebron, he saw things before they happened and his height along with the ability to use his off hand allowed him to make passes that shorter players like Stockton and Nash couldn't make. Also like Lebron, he didn't rack up as many assists per game because he wasn't a point guard and he was a prolific scorer.
You forgot the original great point guard Bob Cousy.
What you describe these other players as he is. Great courtvision, knowing where his team mates want the passes and had all his team mates ready for all of his crafty passes.
Lebron not as great at passing as Magic, Stockton, Cousy, Nash and Kidd. Also Larry Bird.
His chemistry with his teammates is not quite as good.
Cousy invented showmanship and entertaining the crowd in real games (as opposed to Globetrotters style barnstorming)
Fun fact, a photographic memory has never been proven to exist, so saying "Lebron has a photographical memory" is just coffee talk
as someone with the alleged “photographic memory”, i feel like anyone who says it’s not proven or is in disbelief of the legitimacy, is just jealous they’re average or has such poor memory that they cant fathom being able to look at something briefly and remember most-every detail clearly and correctly.
My field of study requires having tremendous memory, so trust me, that's not the case
Can you make a video on how good was John Stockton
Honorable mention Jason Williams
Where's my man jason william?
For me Kidd, Scott Skiles, Nash, Magic and Stockton
A lot of names left off this list, Oscar, Cousy, Bird, Tiny...ahhhh kids.
Pete Maravich
Jason Williams is the Goat passer.
Rondo, Nash, Isaiah Thomas, chris Paul, Tony Parker, pistol Pete, Derek fisher.
Why dosent this Chanel have 2 mil followers
Isaiah Thomas being left out is a shame
Lebron for not being a point guard has great talent
Bruh because he make 10 assists per game this year?
His passes are not very Grazy like Jokic which is the only which have Grazy pass iq and Doncic becoming the next one
@@germanischerkrieger6018 it's not about how flashy the pass they make, it's about how good it is.

Lebron admits he doesn't have a photographic memory but his memory is super impressive
Shouldve been cp3 instead of bron. Not saying bron isnt a great passer but because we talkin about passing skill alone, cp3s assist turnover ratio is one of the best of all time and easily the best pure point guard of this generation
Jason Williams over Lebron

Putting everyone in this list besides of magic and not putting j will is the most disrespectful thing this CZcams account has made fr, this shit biased smh

MMM Player im a lakers fan for many years but there are so many great passers in the nba that's better than lebron like j will, rod strickland,rondo,cp3(although he has been mentioned in this video)and many more
I was born in 81 so I can’t go much further back than the modern era. But in my time it’s in some order:
Magic
Rondo
Nash
Stockton
Kidd.
Rondo doesn’t get talked about enough because he’s never been a “superstar”. But he might actually be the best all time. People that know basketball always bring up rondo in these conversations. He’s one of the smartest players period.
I’ve watched ball since 1979, when Bird and Magic started. I’ve seen some great passers since then and I don’t go by total cumulative assists, I prefer Per Game assists. LeBron averages 7.2 assists which is #24 on per game list; he shouldn’t be on top 5 list. In my opinion the top 5 assist leaders are (no order): Magic, Stockton, Nash, Oscar, Kidd. Honorable mention: Chris Paul. Rajon Rondo was a very good assist guy but he was a 7.92 assist per game. #16 on the list. I might put him in the top 12.
My favorite non-PG passer was Bird. He did those no-look touch passes. He could do all sorts of beautiful assists that’ll blow you away.
All of my favorite players I've watched over the years except Nash. It wasn't about Nash though, I just really disliked the D'Antoni system. But I would suggest young players watch Nash's youtube instructionals. I also like watching Chris Paul and Luka Doncic. Luka is going to be the future of this league.
The Suns were by far the most fun team to watch in the league from like 2005-2010. Playing that SSOL style of basketball. A lot of teams in that era played ISO ball and also just weren't very efficient or good from the three point line.
John Stockton may have been a 6'1 white guy wearing short shorts, but he wasn't unathletic. He had a quick first step, had incredible stamina, and was very strong. The man blew right by plenty of defenders including MJ on at least two occasions. His vertical wasn't anything amazing but overall his athleticism was at least average if not above average for a point guard.
Yeah, the casual racism and stereotyping bugged me. Seems almost standard these days.
Larry Bird??
John Stockton, the best point guard to not have a ring.
Steve Nash, 2x MVP, 0 rings.
Stockton will probably forever be the best passer in history. What a player!
Dude, how can you put Steve Nash, LeBron James, and Jason Kidd on this list but not Pistol Pete Maravich. Mind blowing.
agreed, but there probably isn't enough good footage out there of him. one of my favorites all time, but you have to remember he retired like 40 years ago. This list seems rather modern, especially with lebron being forced onto it when you have other great pure passing guards like Rubio, Rondo, etc. out there.
Pistol only averaged around 5 a game and was more known for his unique ways of scoring rather than his passing
@@iMarzie wrong
@@colewhitely5690 not wrong. He was a crafty passer that invented some new and flashy ways to distribute, but for his overall legacy he’s known as a dominate scorer. I mean he has the all time NCAA record for points per game and he was doing all that without an3 point line. And don’t take this the wrong way, imma huge Pistol Pete guy and think he’s been forgotten about.
CP3???
Where’s bird
Should’ve at least put J-Will aka white chocolate as an honorable mention or make it 6 all time because ya gotta put Rondo in there too
With nothing but respect to the legendary, John Stockton, you have to take them off this list and put on white chocolate Jason Williams, dude was ridiculous, he probably got left off the list because he wasn’t a superstar, never even an all star, but we’re talking the greatest passers, and it’s really hard to argue that anybody else was better
Man, how does Lebron got in, but chris paul and the Big O didn’t, outrageus
Lebron has a higher IQ duhhh
Rennard Mullins hahahahahha very funny, he is a good passer, so rajon rondo, but he is not a top 5
Luka Lay Donini wtf he’s one of the best passers of all time Cp3 and Rondo are amazing but there just right out of the conversation but they don’t facilitate the floor and capable of drawing enough attention at the same time for those passes to be made while always finding them as soon as there given space
Trevon Montes man, LBJ isn‘t one of rhe top 5, he is a scorer and rebounder, yes he‘s leading the league in assists this season, but only this season, he‘s a 7 assists per game in his carrer, and is a good passer, you can say that Lebron is a Top 10 all time passing, BUT TOP 5?????? This is so outrageus for guys like Mark Jackson, the big O, jason williams(wasnt consistent but a hell of a passer), cp3,etc. If he focused on passing in his career, he might be a top 5 but, that isn‘t the case. Top 10 all time passing.
1-Magic
2-Stockton
3-Kidd
4-Nash
5-Jackson
6-Robertson
7-Cp3
8-James
9-Williams
10-Thomas
Luka Lay Donini dude if your going off of things like assist per game then you would put people like Russell Westbrook and James Harden above a lot of amazing passers who didn’t average a ton of assists but I feel you on that but also know these are mostly people who are guards that you put high in that list and lebron used to mostly play SF and PF on his previous teams prier to the lakers so more assist would naturally come to these amazing passers who play guard positions you feel me?
2:18 "lebron is a hybrid between magic and jordan" bruhh hybrid between magic and karl malone u mean??
