  • In this video I show how to install a cable activated internally routed dropper seatpost. This particular seatpost is a Bontrager, but many others such as the Fox transfer, KS, Thomson elite Etc.are very similar.

Hey Joey. I have the exact same seat post. I’m tryin to do some maintenance on it. I can’t figure out how to screw out plastic actuator piece (the piece where the cable slides into the notch at the bottom of the seat post) from the shaft of the seat post. Other droppers have an Allen key hole there but this one doesn’t? Any ideas? I hate to start cranking on that plastic with a crescent wrench trying to twist it out?

Honestly I can't remember if I've had this particular model apart before. The latest Bontrager models are pretty simple to disassemble and service. Just watching this video though, it looks like there is a C-clip holding the actuator base into the post? I'll look into it and see if we have one at the shop or see if I can find more info because I'm not 100% sure on this exact post. Thanks for the question!

Joey Mesa Thanks man. I found a maintenance video for a pnw dropper that looks exactly like the Bontrager. Looks like you do loosen the actuator end with a crescent wrench after all.

@@danstanley9341 Did you have to remove the c-clip to take loosen the actuator end or just leave it and loosen?

What Allen keys were you using to tighten the wire on the shifter

    • @JoeyMesa

This particular dropper lever uses a 3mm allen to hold the main part and a 2mm allen key to tighten the little grub screw,

Not at all similar to mine.
