  • Guys, watch the whole episode, BEFORE you disassemble dropper post on your bike. It is a Merida Expert model, with internal cable routing, very similar to other, cheaper posts.

Thank you so much for video. It was very helpful for how to remove the seatpost out. My seatpost wasn't the same as video on my Trek rail7. But the job done pretty smoothly.

I have the same dropper but when I assembled everything I can’t tighten the nut because the cylinder is turning. You have an idea how to fix this?

Great video, thanks. Very complete guide. Can anybody give me a link to buy that cool bottle cage at the start to the vid? I really need something like that.

This seat post is identical to the Lapierre post I’ve got. It seems the air cartridge is non-adjustable - mine has lost its pressure after very little use and won’t stay up when you sit on it. Pretty junk seatpost unfortunately.

hey mate could you help me quick, I have a similar Merida dropper post, and it started leaking oil from the bottom of my frame, where the cables come out, which im confused as its not my brakes, and my dropper is cable, there is no tension on my lever. thanks

    I literally kill my dropper

Just got mine from grinding back to smooth. Unscrewed the seal part, cleaned the seal and Teflon bearing. Lubed both sides with silicone grease and TF2 Teflon lubricant. Now smooth as silk. Thanks robodude.

I just serviced and had to replace the cartridge in my dropper after only one year. Granted I put 1500km on it and used it throughout the winter on my fat bike. I don't think Canadian winters play nice with droppers in general. Riding in very low temps probably plays havoc on the seals and fluid inside.

And now, stick a knife between the seal and the stanchion xD

the seal you didn't know about has to be in the groove below the threads on the seat collar

I kinda got scared when you were forcing the stanchion out, you might have created the stanchion. You could have removed the bottom part first which is the actuator then unscrew the seal cap. Also, those brass keys can be removed that way you can take off the whole seal cap and clean it properly.

This is where the seal comes from, the bottom of the thread. Check in very very slow speed:
